Disappointed that the classic "sand" color is no longer available. The Oakwood Suede looked like a close match in the photo, but was much darker in person, more of a chestnut color. Quality seemed more-or-less the same as in the past, but my husband will only wear these in the classic color, so we had to return them. A note about sizing: my husband normally wears 9 in leather shoes, 9.5 in athletic shoes. The size 9 desert boots fit him perfectly, he couldn't even get his feet into the 8.

Great shoes, but be sure to order a size down from your normal fit. They tend to run a full size large. I usually wear a size 13 but had to size down to a 12.

These boots are amazing. I usually wear a size 12. I went true to size, they were a bit too big, but I will manage. I ordered the all black suede boots. They go with anything. I was interested in these boots for a while now. I kept hesitating on ordering them, but I am glad that I finally did. Thanks, Zappos!

Everyone is right about them being sized large. Order 1/2 size down as I did and they should be fine.

This is a shoe that should be a staple in every mans wardrobe and is IMO one of the best lkg casual shoes, especially with jeans. The beeswax leather is favored more in the colder climates where things regularly get wet, however they can be a bit hot on the feet when it's warm. Personally I like the look and fit of the suede. It was in fact what the original Clarks desert boot was designed with. Here in Southern Calif. and other warmer areas you will see much more of the suede not just because it looks good but cuz it's much more comfortable. As for 'color', what's displayed on the Internet is not all that accurate. The taupe distressed is in person not light at all and is flat out gray if that's what you are lkg for. The best shade IMO is the Oakwood suede. It's not 'orange' at all as some pics depict and is a really nice light brown that looks awesome and goes with everything. I don't go out of my way to keep them looking perfect. In fact they look even better with a bit of wear. Go down a half size for a perfect fit.

These are just good looking shoes. The only downsides for me is when the sole wears down you can't replace them easily, and the shoe laces break very easily.

The shoes are great, as advertised. It seems like the sizes run big, so I had to do an exchange for 1/2 size smaller and Zappos made it very easy!

These are great shoes. I love the feel of them. They are very comfortable says my college aged son. The only issue is that we had to send back two pairs because they were too long. He typically wears 11½ but ended up with 10½. The company is great to work with. Every one on the phone was so fun and nice. Also shipping back is easy.

Definitely a good buy. Style looks great, but the fit is about a half size too big. Shoes do take a bit of breaking in especially around the ankle, but were good after a day of wearing them.

These are just your basic Clark desert boots with a leather upper. They are well made and comfortable. They are great with jeans. I wore Clarks as a young man and have gone back to them. I also have a pair of suede ones.

I wanted to reiterate what another reviewer said. You have to break these in before making your opinion on them. Also, they do run about half a size large. I ordered them, same great Zappos service, to have for a trip to Europe after my deployment. When I first got them, I thought about sending them back because they were a bit tight and not very comfortable. After reading the reviews here about breaking them in, I wore them every night for short walks after work with different types of socks, about 5 to 10 minute walks, about five walks total. By the time I was ready to leave, they were a fantastic fit. My true size would have ended up being way too big. And the more I wore them the more comfortable they got. I got beeswax leather which tends to show scratches and scuffs, ordering a suede pair today because I like them so much.

Very comfortable. They run a little large. Ordered two pairs and kept the pair that were 1/2 size down from what I normally wear. They are a little lighter in color than the picture but darken some once worn.

Teenage companion. Living in Lagos, Nigeria in 1971, these were the only real quality shoes you could buy. The only other brand was Bata. I thought they were the ugliest, but had a lot of teen "firsts" while wearing them. They held up extremely well in the tropical heat and downpours of equatorial Africa. My dad and brother wore them too. Our "dessies" felt right at home when we were in Kenya's Tsavo game park sneaking through the red dust and acquiring its color while trying to photograph rhino. Their last encore was dinner at the swank Dorchester Hotel in London where strangers of equally swank pedigrees complimented us on how well one of their national icons fared in a posh setting. Years later, in 2001 I renewed my bond with them and still attest to their comfort and classic styling and compliments received even though my safaris are limited to the hot and dusty streets of urban America. Cheerio Your writing is eloquent...as a child growing up in Trinidad & Tobago B.W.I 1960's we wore Clarks & Bata shoes to school and church. It definitely was the status symbol of the day. I will also renew my bond with the brand for myself and grandson age 9...his first pair. Thank You for the memories.

I made the mistake of not checking reviews before purchasing these and ended up buying a pair in the size that I typically wear for other shoes. They ended up being enormous, and I exchanged them for one full size smaller (10½-9½), which have fit me much better. Overall, I love the look and feel of these shoes so far!

Great boots, completely misleading color. The Taupe Suede is *much* lighter than the picture and almost gray with a hint of brown. Applying Scotchgard made the color a bit closer to the picture. Extremely comfortable. They do run a little small.

These boots are great. I have a number of Chukka boots including Red Wing Heritage and J.Crew Seude. These are my favorite for a number of reasons - they're comfortable, the leather breaks in nicely, and they look terrific. Can modify and individualize them pretty easily with various shoe-laces. I recommend these highly.

These are "classic" Clark Desert Boots. I purchased my first pair in 1958 and wore them for a three month track through Europe. The new pair that I just purchased are essentially the same as the ones that I bought in 1958, except that they are now made in Vietnam instead of England, and a size 10.5 is now what (in the old days) once was a size 11. The shoe runs a little larger now days. Arch support in this type of shoe is rather scant, and for real walking comfort the addition of something like a Dr. Scholl's arch support is a good thing. The width is accurate. Overall a very nice, classic feel and look.

I have a fairly wide foot and normally wear size 13's. I accidentally ordered size 14's instead of 12's and I can confirm that these shoes definitely run large. In size 12 the leather will stretch out and fit quite comfortably after wearing them a few times.

Got my first pair last year as a summer boot to wear without socks or short socks. They are unbelievably soft and comfy from the moment you take them out of the box. Coming from the Red Wing family for winter boots, these had none of the break-in period. They're ready to look cool and stylish and feel worn-in from day 1. I got them in the light Sand Suede after ordering the darker tan and some other competing brands for comparison. These felt like the lightest summer color that could look relaxed but styling, with that perfect timeless feel.

I should start by saying these are awesome boots. I've been eyeing these for a while and finally bought myself a pair. Heeding the advice from previous reviews about sizing, I sized down. I wear a size 13 sneaker (Vans, Adidas) but I usually wear a size 11-ish in boots. I ordered a size 11.5, and they fit perfectly. I would definitely recommend ordering a size and a half smaller as these run big. With that being said, they fit very comfortably. I feel like I'm walking on a cloud, I swear, they are so comfy and lightweight. Apart from this, they look real nice, and they pretty much go with any type, color, and fit of jeans. I'm a big fan. As always, Zappos rules.

Just as many reviews I viewed before buying. These are the originals in looks and comfort. Just like the pair I had in high school too many years ago. I have had many people ask where I found them.
