I love these boots. They are great skinhead/punk boots and the steel toe can really give you an advantage in a rumble and are great for those pesky rednecks. I own 187 pairs of docs and these are by far the best!

Great looking boot, but looks can be deceiving. I had highly anticipated getting these and was happy when they arrived. Unfortunately, I had to return them due to an annoying creaking noise, every step was creaky where the sole and the leather of the boot meet underneath. I am just wearing these around the house to break them in. Very annoying, and considering how much I paid for these boots, I was not willing to take the risk of seeing if the creaking would go away or not. My guess is the type of leather that is used. I called Zappos and the exchange was not a problem. I now have the 1919 which is what I exchanged the 8761 for, and now the heel is creaking in the 1919. I will probably be returning these also. I do have the 1460 which is probably what I will stick with, no problems so far.

Ow, I hate to be that person, but the old Docs used to be the most comfy thing ever. The new ones hurt too much to give a good review. They fit right and look good like they should and I am still giving them a chance to break in (so long after). Too late to return though, but I'm kind of disappointed. Cost vs comfort is quite inequitable. Hate to say it.

Stiff boots - If you don't like to break your boots in, then these aren't the ones for you. On the other hand they will last forever! These are great looking but very stiff and uncomfortable for a while until broken in.

Did Not Fit! US Mens 8 was too large and a US Mens 7 was too small. To bad they don't offer half sizes. Tongue design of the boot is very bad. It is sewn right to the sides of the boots instead of free floating. This caused the tongue to bunch up inside the boot and created a sore spot on the inside of my foot.

Three years of wear later and these boots will be my last pair of Dr. Martens. Visually the oxblood look over the old-style sole lured me in and as this was my fifth pair of Dr. Martens I was rewarded with glove-like comfort after a break-in period. My issue was the sole and its durability. Slowly, gradually, almost imperceptibly a hairline split developed in the instep along the ribbing. I discovered it when slush and water found their way into the boot last winter. Almost eight months later the same horizontal split along the ribbing of the instep developed in the other boot. There was a time when I was an evangelist for the durability of the Dr. Martens product line...now, they've been delegated to fashion status in my mind.

Don't waste your money. Worst boots of all time (at least now they are). These boots are so painful... I can't imagine trying to "break in" a pair. Docs sizing charts are completely off; all of sudden I wear a UK 3. The materials used are of the cheapest variety, yet still command a high price. Hope you have a good podiatrist to assist with the breaking in period. Horrible. Sorely disappointed...and I've been a Docs enthusiast since the '80s.

They fit well and look great on. I had stopped buying docks in the past because they never lasted long Ive had several pairs over the years. These seem to be well constructed.

My favorite boots! Wear them all the time, love them. So much that I don’t look forward to the day I have to replace them.

I wear two models of Doc's, this one is the one I wear almost daily. I ride so the steel toe is a plus. The boot is roomy, I've never had an issue with the fit. For first timers I'm sure you'll be whining during break in, these may not be the choice for you. For those who are accustomed to wearing this model you'll be happy you stayed with the 8761!

Best purchase I've made in a while. I'm a life-long fan, just never had this boot before. For me, needed an insole, as me foot is quite flat...but otherwise fantastic. Short break-in time (I'm on me feet hours on end...) and now delightfully comfy. An excellent boot for workers!

I am a 10½ but I ordered down because I heard Martens run big, especially the 8761. I have a 10 and have been wearing them with inserts (I always wear inserts because of my high arches) and I found that they definitely do stretch. I could not imagine that a size 9 would have been better though. I had a size 9 in wingtips and it killed my feet. If you are interested in these boots then size down for sure. Even a full size if you are not within the half mark. They are good looking boots. I have been proud.

I got these for my son who is a freshman in high school. He loves them and wears them everyday. He has a wide toe area, but his biggest issue is that his foot is very thick, so most shoes do not fit him. These fit him perfectly with room to grow. Nice quality, they still look brand new after a few weeks of wear.

Zappos delivers once again! These Doc's are difficult to find! Overnight delivery and a perfect pair of boots! I'm a happy customer!

Docs are a solid buy. They will last you a long time. Most people that would buy these are looking for this style already. They take a little while to break in but are well worth it.

I have owned a pair of these boots for almost 3 years now. I keep them shined and try to maintain the leather. I use them for city wear (I probably walk a mile+ a day) as well as work and theater work and yard work and anything where I need something sturdy. They are my go-to winter boot when I don't need snow boots, meaning they do get some salt abuse etc. Pro: they keep a shine 3 years later. The steel toe is good enough for the work I do (although I know it's not safety-rated.) They're comfortable and I can dress them up or down because they take a shine. Con: after 3 years, I've had the soles replaced twice and had to patch by the ball of the foot twice on one shoe and once on the other (and have another split developing.) Vibram soles made a big difference in the longevity. The toes also gashed up almost immediately. I guess after 3 years a fair bit of abuse is to be expected; I wish they lasted forever, like everyone says docs used to do. But these are still great shoes and I will probably one day order them again (although I might just patch the leather again and keep on keeping on.)

Dr. Martens's 8761 Series - I've owned quite a few of these pairs of boots over the last 20+ years now. They are BY FAR the Best Boots that Dr. Martens make. Steel Toe, at that!!! They last forever! I Love These Boots! They take a few days of wearing in for them to become one of the most comfortable boots on the planet. Wear a couple pairs of socks the first few days and they'll mold right to your feet! They're sooo comfortable! These are what Black Rugged Boots should look like!!! On top of that, Zappos offers the best prices and the shipping is unmatched!!! :)

Just What the Dr. M. Ordered - I'm glad I read reviews before I ordered these and got them a full size smaller. Indeed they are very roomy once your foot's inside. I have to loosen all the laces to get my foot through, but I hope once they're broken in, that won't be the case. If you are a small girl who is not afraid of big clunky boots these are perfect. For no other reason than above- and -beyond service, Zappos upgraded my shipping so the boots were here in a few days. That was a nice bonus since I expected to wait a week or so. I would absolutely order from this company again.

What a great company - So I ordered these boots on Monday. Already know they fit great. Got the tracking number and all that. They have free 2 day delivery so I kept waiting for updates from UPS. Nothing. Called them today and the person I spoke to said they're doing some work to the warehouse and my order might not have shipped. So she enters an order for my boots to be sent today NO Charge. Told me if the other one's show up to just call them and they'll issue a tag to send them back. Well, finally got an update from UPS that my boots were out for delivery. Quick called customer service and had them cancel the other order. Bottom line is you CAN'T BEAT THIS KIND OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. To do what they did is incredible. All I can say is if they got the items you want, don't waste time anywhere else. Just buy from Zappos. I did, and I most definitely will again. Thanks Zappos for making this punk rocker happy.

Dr. Martens 8761 Series - WELL WORTH THE MONEY. Since purchasing this boot, I have received nothing but compliments. I wear these boots while at work, standing for periods of up to twelve hour shifts. Extremely comfortable boots. I am not insecure about my height, but I do enjoy the fact that I stand 2" taller while wearing them. I notice the height difference more when I switch back to Van's type shoe. These boots do take a few days to break in. From then on, they are the best. I had to put insoles into the boots. That is the only down side, to me.

Gotta Love the Docs - The boots are by far my favorite docs to date. They take a little while to break in, but it was worth it. The steel toe is great, really helps the boots keep their shape. Zappos gets major kudos for shipping these out super fast. Will continue to buy docs and shop at Zappos.
