Good boots -
After these boots are broken in, they were the most comfortable boots I've worn in a while.

Boots -
My daughter loves the boots. It just takes her forever to lace them up!

I purchased these for my husband for christmas, but quickly exchanged them for the more expensive 20 eyelet smooth, no steel toe, Dr. Martens boot. The leather was soft and probably wouldn't have taken as long to get comfortable, but the steel toe looked terrible from the outside, you could see the bump on the toe were it started because the leather was so soft. The fit was different then other Dr. Martens boots I've purchased as well, the shoe was much taller through the foot bed and when laced on my husband's foot, the first few eyelets practically overlapped.

Personally, I didn't like them...
...but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't get them. I bought them in Jan 2004 to compliment my 8-eye Docs that were 3 years old. I thought that they would look really good with blue jeans and other casual pants. Unfortunately, the look doesn't make the chore of lacing and unlacing the shoes worth it. If I was a woman and could wear them with a skirt or tight pants tucked into the boots, I would keep them. However, I think I'm going to sell them on eBay. (I barely wore them.) Will buy more Docs in the future!

These boots are garbage. The leathers are not cut correctly; just look where the toe meets the shaft leathers, and you'll see a one inch gap that doesn't close when the boots are laced. When I walked in these, this gap caused my toes to repeatedly hit the steel caps, which quickly caused significant pain. Furthermore, the leather is exceedingly cheap; I was horrified when I removed them from the box, thinking I bought plastic boots! The leather is thin, with inconsistent tanning. I owned three pairs of Dr. Martens before this pair, but I will never buy another pair of their boots. The next pair I will buy are Grinders brand; they are a little more expensive, but of much higher quality. If you still love the look of Docs, then consider Solovair brand.

I would have liked to wear these shoes, but was forced to return them. I'm really not a heffer, but I have what a perv in the 1890's might have called a well turned calf. So the boots even though they were huge on my feet did not even come close to lacing up at the top. Bottom line - if you have toothpick legs get the boots, if you've got some nice big calves, pick something else.
