Wish they made them like they used to - These shoes are pretty good, particularly at this price, but they used to be made better and were more comfortable. There is less cushion in the step.

Exactly as expected - Great shoe - only negatives that prevent 5 stars are the very thin insole and lack of half-sizes (I'm right in between...) I personally love the traditional sole on this shoe and the 0939 boots, etc. - not so keen on the "new" grooved design.

Very Comfortable and Durable - Only took a couple of days to break these shoes in. They are very comfortable. These are about 80% as good as they were when they made these in England. For the price though you can’t beat these as an all around comfortable shoe.

Was a great shoe - I have owned many pair of these shoes over the years (in fact I wore only Docs for years and years). I must admit, this is the first time I have ever been disappointed. While I ordered them in the same size I have always worn, these were quite narrow and not true to fit. I have had (in the past) Docs made in England. Honestly, I would not mind paying more if they would make them in England again. If you normally wear an 8 in this shoe, I would recommend sizing up to the 9. I plan to soak the shoes in warm water then put on 2 of my most fluffy socks and wear them till dry. Maybe this will help.

Still good, but could be better. I have the original of this style in distressed brown. That was when they were still made in England. I have noticed a difference in the fit now. The old styles (made in England) fit better and were more comfortable. I still like Doc's, but am disappointed.

Very comfortable but still have to be broken in. And those also look very good.

Need to be broken in... There is nothing more uncomfortable than a NEW pair of Docs. The leather is stiff and there is far too much sole. I feel like I'm walking on stilts. That said this is my third pair since there is nothing more comfortable and versatile than A WELL BROKEN-IN PAIR of Docs. At the moment though, I'm avoiding wearing these shoes since they are not yet broken in. It takes deliberate effort.

Good shoe, weird sizing - Overall I have been happy with this shoe. I normally wear an 11 US and the 10 UK is a little snug, but I am afraid the 11 UK would be too big. After a week or so of wear the shoes have seemed to stretch some or otherwise broken in and I forget they are on even after 12+ hours. Definitely recommended.

Width could be a problem - I had never ordered shoes without the one-half size option before and I ordered a size down as it suggested the translation of UK sizes to US would be fine. And the length and where the shoe hits the arch of my foot are just fine. The width though seems just a tad narrower than a US medium. The difference only shows up after walking quite a distance and they may stretch with wear. Speaking of wear, they wear like iron. How does one polish or treat the "greasy black" finish though? Just wondering.

Gotta love the 'Doc' Always great quality, always great looking. Requires a considerable amount of break in, but worth the wait. These are long wearing durable shoes.

Overall good shoes - This is my fourth pair of Docs that I have bought and the first that are made in China, they still look great with everything, jeans, slacks, can be easily dressed up or down. However they do give me blisters, maybe after breaking them in they may be better. However my real complaint is that they stain my white socks after a full days wear. Haven’t had this problem since I wore Eastland’s back in my junior high years. Overall good shoes.

Pinches the toes a bit, looks great! These shoes leave me highly conflicted...they look great, they break in quickly and nicely, they are a bit too narrow at the shoes (pinch my toes), and they feel unsupported in the arch. The more I get used to them the better they feel, but my pinkies are pretty calloused at this point.

First pair of Doc's - I first ordered a UK 9 (US 10), and the shoes definitely felt tight. I usually wear a US 10 in everything. I sent these back (great return process) and ordered a UK 10 (US 11), and they fit just right. I agree with everyone else in that these are very stiff out of the box. I have been wearing them now for about a month, and they are finally getting soft! These do not have much cushioning in the sole, so I ordered a pair of Doc Marten insoles from the Doc Marten website, (they're not sold at Zappos, not sure why). That did the trick; they are now much more comfortable. If these last as long as the reputation says, then the breaking in period will be worth it. I have been through 3 pairs of Skechers of similar style, and EVERYONE of those pairs developed a giant crack within 6 months through the entire sole of the shoe right across where the ball of your foot is. That is unacceptable and the reason I bought these for 2x the price. I really like the style of this shoe and hope it lasts a long long time!

Shoes 8053 - I have an 8 year old pair of 8053's and reordered the same ones. My new pair caused a blister on my right foot but should loosen up.

Sizes not accurate- These UK10 shoes feel too snug on my small toes. (But my old UK10 Docs fit perfectly, even from the start.) I am returning them and ordering UK11 (one size bigger than my actual shoe size.) I suggest you do the same, if your foot's width is even remotely wider than normal (which is likely, if you wear a UK10.) The one-width-fits-all "M" width is just not sufficient for the larger shoe sizes.

Dr. Martens shoe - I have another pair of this type of shoe (different color, they are awsome when finally broken in but it takes a long time to break them in. During the break in period (a few months) they are tough on the heel and back of my foot.

Good looking shoe - Excellent looking shoe, goes well with everything. Comfort is a little sub par, though I have yet to break them in very much. I was very impressed with Zappos' quick delivery. I am an 11 1/2; had to get a 12, but they fit fine.

Ouch - I actually really like these shoes. They look great. Unfortunately they are very stiff. I can only wear them a couple of hours at a time. I am sure they will break in eventually but until then...

Break the Doc's In - As I have heard about Doc's, they require quite a breaking in period. I got some nice nickel sized blisters on each of my heels and some smaller ones on each of my pinkie toes after taking my dogs on a couple of mile walk. Now my blisters have healed and my shoes are starting to break in, and they are great. One more word for you if you buy your first pair of Dr. Marten's - moleskin.

Almost completely satisfied... If it weren't for the fact that they are no longer made in England, I'd give the shoes an overall rating of five stars. Zappos does have an insane delivery time. It's as if my shoes ran to my doorstep the next day. That's scary.

Dr. Martens's 8053 Series - These shoes are a little big on me so far, but then I just started wearing them so we’ll see. I like them so far, and hopefully I’ll like them more when they’re broken.

I still haven't worn them out of the house as they don't feel that good. I'm giving them some time as I've had them before and they've been great.

Docs rock - The shoe is very comfortable. I wear a 16 and was told for years that Docs only went to 13. I walk on concrete all day and with the help of an insole these are like walking on air. They are clunky which took some getting used to and they are wide shoes (I am a narrow). Also, the color I got, greasy black, collects dust throughout the work day, but it is easily washed off with water. So, a couple of drawbacks but the comfort makes up for them.

Decent Shoe. Comfortable Sole. I needed to order a full size larger than what I normally wear.
