Awesome shoes!
I love these shoes. I wear dress and causal pants. I even stick them on with jeans. These are the perfect all-around shoes to wear with anything.

A Good Shoe for A Good PRice -
I ordered 2 pairs of Doc Marten's for my nieces who attend private school children in New Orleans, LA. The price through Zappos was the best I could find ANYWHERE! The nuns require the girls to have these shoes...any shoe required by a nun has to be good!

I love these!
I had a pair of these that got lost, so when I found these at Zappos, I thought I would try them again. The first time I wore them I was worried because they felt tight and uncomfortable. The second time I put them on, they were like finding an old friend. I travel a lot and always wear them because they are so comfortable. The service at Zappos was great too!

Very good Docs -
These shoes are so good to me. I have worn the wingtip style for years and a a pair of the boots, and I now have just purchased a pair of these and worn them for about a month or so now. I love these shoes because they look so cool. My girlfriend has told me they are "hot" so thats fine with me. They are also very comfy and are tough as hell. The stitching looks cool on them I think thats why I love docs so much. They also go through all kinds of weather and they have the padded collar that feels more like metal for the first week but then it breaks in and becomes the best part of the shoe because it softens up like a pillow. Would reccomind to anyone for work or play. :)

Extremely comfortable and durable -
My girlfriend convinced me to spend the $130 (retail in a mall) for these shoes, saying they would last a long time. That was 4 years ago and the soles barely show any signs of wear. Some conditioner every 6 months and the leather is looking better than the day I got them. Finding them at Zappos.com for nearly half the price is simply an outstanding value. These shoes truly will give you many years of use and comfort, and I don't give out recommendations like that lightly. I can't comment on any quality issues relating to the move to Chinese manufacture, mine are made in England.
They don't look as comfortable as a pair of Nike's but they are, and maybe more so. The padding around the ankle is key - other versions don't have it but appear similar to this shoe. Don't be fooled - spend the extra for this one. I've never experienced any sort of foot discomfort or fatigue wearing these, as I have with other shoes - even Nike's.
For whatever reason, they never smell bad like a pair of sneakers will. Not that I have stinky feet mind you.
I wear a size 10US in Nike and a size 9US in these Dr. Martens. I hear Nike's run small.

Good Shoes - Made in China or Not!
Well, I was reading the reviews for Shoes Doc Martens 8053's. Well, yes it turns out the shoes did begin to be made in China. The old English tradition was nothing different - shoe wise - except for the indent on the sole and the heel pad that said "Made in England" They are the same shoes. The craftsman ship and the good looks and comfort has not changed - only the location of where they were made. They fit the same, no matter what the people said - and they don't SCRAP OFF PARTS OF THE HEEL WHEN YOU RUN YOUR NAIL ACCROSS THEM! GOD! That is what the long "Dr. Walmartens" review is about. Not true. It is genuine leather, and it takes everything like troopers. The shoe can go through anything and they don't even feel it. Just take five minutes out of your day and smooth on DM Wonder Balsam (Doc Balm) and they look good as new. Stitching get dirty? Just mix up some oxi clean in a small cup and dip in a toothbrush and scrub away. It takes any kinds of stains off.
I'd also recommend:

Zappos.com Is The Cat's Pajamas.
The only part of my wardrobe that I care intensely about are my shoes. Now, given, I have exactly three pairs of shoes. A work pair. A pair of brown Penny Loafers. A black pair of Oxfords.
Two belts. One brown. One black. Typical male closet.
Shoes are the one things that I will splurge on, as long as the quality is there. About a year ago, a pair of black Oxfords that I had worn for about three years finally had had it. They just disintegrated, and fell off my feet. I buried them in the back yard. So, it was time to get another pair. I went to the local shoe store. After walking back and forth several times, I ended up with debating over two shoes. One was a high priced Bass shoe. The other was a shoe from Sketchers.
I said that I was willing to splurge on shoes, but the Bass (who I've been completely happy with in the past, and which was the shoe that I was trying to replace) was $ 120. Holy cow. The Sketchers was $ 40.
Well, you get what you pay for. I bought the Sketchers shoe, and within three months the "leather" was peeling off and sole was separating from the shoe.
Like a stupid consumer, I say to myself, "Maybe I just got the one bad shoe from the factory that day. Hey, it happens." And I went out and bought another pair of $ 40 Sketchers shoes.
Present day, four months later. My second pair of Sketchers shoes is again falling apart. The seams are separating. The "leather" is falling off. The sole is separating.
So where do I stand at this point? I have spent $ 80 in the past year on shoes, and need to get another pair. If I had paid the $ 120 for the Bass shoe, it would probably show very little, if any, signs of wear at this point.
Now, I had a pair of Dr. Martens some years ago, in High School. I remember that they weren't my favorite pair of shoe ever, but they were tough as Hell. I ended up losing them in a move before they showed any signs of wear. So, since I was back to Square One anyway, and I knew that a Dr. Martens was going to run just as expensive as the Bass shoe, why not give them a try?
That is when I found Zappos.com. Fabulous site. Simply fabulous. I type in Dr. Martens, and am instantly displayed their selection. I easily find the exact black Oxford that I am looking for. I check the price. $ 90, but minus the fact that they were on sale, they were only $ 70, and free shipping. Hoohoo!
So I read the testimonials for this shoe. I know what my size is, which they conveniently give in UK and US. A good portion of the comments are saying how the shoes felt a size too small. Hmmmm. Okay, so I order a size larger than what I normally wear. I plug in the credit card number, and three days later, the shoes arrive in a shiny new box.
Alas! They feel like they are a size too large! Ugh. I reversed the Reverse Psychology, and ended up reversing myself into a larger size.
So, I sheepishly take the receipt to my computer and go back to Zappos.com to see what their return policy is, and how many limbs I have to sell in order to get the correct size. The Cookies remember me, and I am taken right to my order. Immediately, and I mean Immediately, below my order is a link that says, "Would you like to return or exchange this shoe?"
Why, yes, Mr. Zappos. I would. I click on it. I answer a few simple questions. Next thing I know, a UPS label is printing out of my printer. Along with a piece of paper that I have to include in the box. It simply is for me to fill in the action that I would like taken. I say, "Sorry. Based on the testimonials, I ordered a size too large. Please exchange it for the same shoe, but a size smaller." And I check the "Exchange" box.
I tape the UPS label to the box and drop it off the next day on the way to work. I should get the correct shoes within a week.
Zappos.com, you are the Cat's Pajamas.

Long term shoes -
I have had a pair of these for almost eight years now and they are the best shoes I have ever owned. They took a while to break in at first, but once they were they are like a good friend, great in the snow too! My soles are pretty worn now, and sometimes I'll slide on slick floors but then again, after eight years it's amazing that they still are in one piece, (they have even survivied a brutal attack courtesy of my girlfriends German shephard). I have worn them in a casual office environment and out during the weekend and they are as durable and comfortable as you could ever want shoes to be. A great buy!!!

I'm pleased.
I never write customer reviews (enough out there already), but I'm impressed. While my Doc's feel a little tight, they fell great. On top of looking nice, I didn't mind the fact they came in in less than 24 hours. I wonder how Zappos pulls this off.

Zippy Zappos -
I walked out of my local Doc Marten dealer fed up with a slacker sales staff & very little inventory.
I turned to the web, found Zappos, saved $30 & the shoes were on my doorstep quicker than I expected.
The shoes themselves are slow to break-in but well worth it in the long run. Beware: shoe sizes run at least a size smaller than marked.

Still Going After Seven Years -
I have a pair of these on my feet now that I've had for seven years. They have stood up to a variety of poor conditions (working in a manufacturing environment, Mardi Gras in New Orleans) and still look good with very little upkeep. They did require a longer-than-usual break-in, but since then have been the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. The only drawback was the lack of half-sizes: until I'd worn them for about a year they seemed to crowd my toes a bit. The only reason I'd consider replacing them is because Dr Martens doesn't resole shoes (as far as I know) and I wouldn't trust them to anyone else; but I still have at least three or four years of tread life left in them. Overall an absolutely great shoe.

It's no wonder why "dance club kids" from Atlanta to Santa Barbara wear these shoes. Comfort and looks and durability. My second pair, 1st pair lasted 11 years!

This is the first pair Dr. Martens shoes that I have purchased. I am very pleased with the look and the feel. I am conservative and work for a fairly conservative industrial company but the shoes (although not conservative) look great with a business-casual outfit. What is even better- it appears that the soles can withstand a very aggressive shop floor (ESD flooring). What surprises me the most is the comfort of the shoe. I thought that the Dr Martens were mostly style and not comfort; these are probably the most comfortable shoes that I have worn in 10 years and I have tried them all. I am sold on Dr. Martens and on Zappos. The online reviews really helped me understand that these shoes sere about comfort, durability and style, gave me the courage to purchase, and I am glad for it. Also, Zappos’ customer service made me a believer in them as a supplier. I'll never got to a shoe store again! The multi-view option let's you see exactly what you are getting, the reviews help you select the right shoe and size, and the availability of large sizes (13-plus) make it the place for me to shop. Go 1 size bigger than you usually buy!

I've ordered 2 pairs of shoes from Zappos and both times I received upgraded shipping. The sizing was pretty accurate and the coloration of the leather was exactly what I was hoping for. Zappos had the cheapest price online and the same price as some local stores.
All in all, Zappos was cheap with quality. Absolutely no complaints.
