Normally, when you think Dr. Martens, you think the classic 1460 - combat boots for civilians, if you will. But I push for the 0939's to join the DMs hall of fame in timelessness - it's also a classic, but in a work boot style. Consider them the Docs contribution to the world of vintage masculine or dapper boots. They're durable (my Made-in-China boots are still going strong more than 4 years later without so much as a scratch - and at this point I do still have hope that MIC is just as good as MIE), they're comfortable (classic Docs comfort, less the breaking in), and they're stylish (giving the Red Wing Beckmans a run for their money, quite literally, as it's about half as pricey). Mine is the gaucho with crazy horse leather - a naturally-distressed leather that only adds to the classic handsomeness of the boots - and I sometimes like to spruce it up with the brown-and-yellow laces the Timberland classic boots are so known for. I always pair these with jeans - can't have it any other way - whenever I want to dress up a little more smartly, and they do the job really well. I usually wear them with the pants down for a more "conservative" look; the trademark yellow stitching is a big giveaway that they're Docs, but I'm proud of it all the same. They're a pleasure to walk and drive in, and of all the boots I own, these are the most timeless addition to my wardrobe so far.

Dr. Martens 0939 Black- I received a couple of weeks ago; they fit well, are pretty comfortable right out of the box, and look perfect. My only negative feeling comes in comparison to my older pair of brown boots (that are the same style) which were made in England, not in China as these were- my old ones feel much more substantial than these China made ones and they came with better laces too. I think that basically my new black ones are going to be fine, but I think that quality has suffered a smidge with the Chinese manufacturing. I'd still recommend them, and I can't wait for the black pair to get a more beat up look (like my brown ones). *** It goes without saying that Zappos has fabulous customer service and shipping- they rock!

DOC Martins- These boots are comfortable besides the fact that they cut into the backs of both ankles. I would recommend wearing two pairs of socks in order to avoid cuts to the backs of your ankles. Maybe I just need to break them in, but these things hurt my ankles.

1st pair of Dr. Marten's - These are my first pair of Dr. Marten's and I think they are great. The quality is terrific along with the comfort and style. Their customer service is 2nd to none. The boots are great, thanks.

Nice Shoes - This is my 3rd or 4th pair over the last 10 to 12 years. These boots are great. I have a pair of black and brown and basically only wear them. they are nice enough to wear with dress clothes if needed and also for everything else. I only get new ones when I wear the old ones out (usually after 2 or 3 sole changes). I always get my $$ out of these boots.

Great! These boots feel a little cramped for me on the sides but after breaking them in they are getting more and more comfortable. The shipping from zappos was fast and the order arrived ahead of schedule! Thanks!

Dr. Marten's - I ordered these shoes for my son and was surprised that they arrived two days after the order was placed. I cannot say enough about the great service at Zappo's. This is his second pair of Dr. Marten's, the previous pair having been worn daily for over seven years.

Try insoles - I have a size 9.5 foot. This has proven to be quite a pain when fitting shoes/boots that do not come in half sizes. In Birkenstocks, 42 is slightly too small and 43 is slightly too big. In the Doc Marten's I ordered a size 9 and though they fit in the length well enough, I could touch both sides of the grommets when I pulled the laces tight. Too high a volume in the mid foot, too small a volume in the toe box. A pair of blue superfeet insoles solved the mid foot volume problem, but tightened the toe box even more. Fortunately, the boots do stretch a bit in the toe box and conform to the ankle area over time so that after having worn them for a couple weeks they are comfortable. As far as looks go and construction go, they're sweet.

First timer with Doc's...had heard a lot about them. The style/functionality is perfect for why I bought them (construction manager). I was expecting to be wowed by the "bouncing soles" but was not. Don't get me wrong, they are comfortable, but I thought that some Timberlands and Wolverines that I also tried on at a local store had more cushion underfoot with each step than these. Not a big enough deal to be unhappy with my purchase though.

My expectations have been met - I have never owned a pair of Dr. Martens shoes but I tried to duplicate a pair that I have loved for many years and finally wore out. They were White Mountain. I hesitated to order a pair from the internet not knowing how they would fit or feel but this is the first time that I have bought a pair of shoes that fit like a glove and are as comfortable as my last boots after being broke in. I know that I will enjoy them as much as the last pair and am glad that I took a chance. Thanks for your speedy delivery since I needed them as soon as possible because of our snowstorm. They came so quickly for no extra charge. It was a great experience and I thank all those involved.

Big Shoes - My son likes these shoes. We have a lot of trouble finding large sized shoes and your service was great. Walking on air - I worked in retail for 6 years on my feet, the mid-cut boot here is the greatest $100.00 I've ever spent.

A Great Boot - I have had this boot before and it lasted me 4 years of pretty continuous wearing through long winter seasons in the Idaho mountains. I appreciated the comfort and the durability. I work at a school and it looks nice enough to go with my clothes. Works well on the ice too!! I hope they keep making this model.

A great feeling and looking shoe one thing I would add to this shoe is foot pades for extra comfort this shoe is 9.99.

Good boots - Tough to get broken in, but very comfortable afterwords. Easy to clean and look great all the time. Very comfortable.

ICON - Most comfortable boots I have ever worn, bar none. The look is never going to die and the shoes are built that way, too.

Cool look and comfortable! Bought this boot for my boyfriend and he found it comfortable, and I liked the old school punk "Doc Martin" look. The only downside is no 1/2 sizes! I got him a size 12, he normally wears a size 12 1/2, the lenghth was good but it was a little too wide so he wears thick socks.

Last You A Life Time - I have owned these boots for a good 5 years. I just started buying from zappos and decided to write reveiws on the books i own. These are the oldest pair that I have and they still feel brand new, very comfortable and very light. Plus to me they go with everything.

Good boot for the money - This is the same as the first pair of Docs I ever bought. Still have them even though they no longer have any traction on the soles. I have tried other styles but have finally come back to this one as I feel it wears better and lasts longer, putting up with more wear and tear of everyday use.

0939 series - The black 0939 are very very comfortable. They broke in very fast. I wore them the first day. The brown pair were a little harder to break in there getting there I'm injoying them The black pr. I 'll rate the best.

You can not just go buy a size 15-16 shoe anywhere. Have found a good product that holds up under the abuse of a teenager.

This is the first pair of Dr. Martens boots I have ordered. I have worn several pair of the 4 hole shoe that looks basically the same. They are as comfy as the shoes are after a couple days of breaking in. I would definitely order them again.
