Best pair of shoes I've ever had - I bought these 5 years ago and they're still my favorite pair of shoes. I wear them to work all day and then in my workshop the rest of the evening. I don't go home and put on my most comfortable shoes because I'm already wearing them. I do use a sorbothane insert which makes a lot of difference.

DOC'S ROCK! I purchased a pair of 0939's back in 1992 and still wear them all the time. They're super comfy (were from the beginning/no break-in period), look great, and are absolutely indestructable! I need a new pair only because these have lots of scuffs from all the wear. I figure the next pair will last at least another 11+ years! No doubt the best shoe purchase I ever made! Sincerely, Melissa Blankenship

10 Years of Abuse and a Good Argument to Show Your Parents - I've had my boots for over ten years and still wear them almost everyday. The leather is cracked and the soles are almost worn smooth, but they're still intact and wearable. These boots have been with me longer than my husband. He wants to get me a new pair, and that'll be fine, but I won't give up this pair! These have been to the barn, rain or shine, and the acid in barnyard soil will really eat most leather. They've been stepped on in mosh pits and by horse hooves and they're still going strong everyday. I'll get a new pair to wear in public, but I'm keeping these for everyday wear. Only problem I had was needing to put an insole in the boots when I first got them. My foot is narrow and the boots were too roomy without the extra padding. Doc's are expensive, but if you break it down it's only $10 a year at this point. Try finding a decent shoe that will stand up to 10 years of torture...

Fantastic - After a period of breaking in, these boots are just the best. I recommend you wear thicker socks for a couple of weeks, as they're murder on your ankles, but after that, they're just amazing. They last for ages, and even when they're completely worn out, you just use them as work/gardening boots. The best $100 you'll spend on boots, ever.

They look and feel better the more you've worn them! I bought a pair about 6 years ago and they have worked out great. They look even better after they've been worn......I use a little wax to clean them up every so often. I wear them everywhere....wet, cold, dirsty, sunny.....you name it. I getting a new pair because I want a new color and my current ones have lost a little of their soles after the last few years. I'm getting the new color so that I can now where the two of them....they are not being retired!

Love these Docs I bought these boots 8 years aga and they're still in service. I use them for yard work. I've worn them all over the US and in Europe, with shorts or jeans. They're totally comfortable. I own 5 pairs of Docs and a pair of Grinders (yes, I DO have a boot fetish), but these brown Docs have been my favorite. I'm set to buy a new pair!

Totally Abused! I bought these boots 8 years ago. They have been to Amsterdam twice, England, Scotland, Montana, Cali,Nev,Az.,Nm.,Vt.,Ga.,Nc.,Mardi Gras,D.C. The soles are still in tact. Stitching A O.K. Uppers still in great shape. Best Docs I've ever owned. Buy Them!

Needs break in time....... I bought these and on the strength of the reviews I wore them to work...not a good idea. I can tell they will fit fine after a few weeks of wearing them around the house, etc but for now it is an experiment in pain to wear them for more than 2 hours at a time.

Made better in England - Overall, people who buy these shoes buy them all of the time. I was surprised to see that they are now made in China instead of the UK. I've been buying this exact model for 15 years now. Maybe once every 4 years. Every other time that I have bought these there was virtually no break in period. I normally use a separate Dr Scholl’s shoe insert to make the fit perfect. In this case, the sizing was off and the insert didn’t fit properly. Also it took several wearings to get the shoes to break in which I'd never experienced before when the shoes were made in England. The leather in the beginning was stiff and not soft. After wearing the shoes for several days, the leather is softening up and feeling much better and overall the shoe is much more comfortable than when I first tried them on. It has been 2 weeks since I bought them and they are nearly 100% of what I expected. I think with a few more days of wearing they will feel great.

0939 Big Review - Great looking shoe but lacks support in all areas. I would recommend ortho inserts and thick socks...They make all the difference in the world. NOT a hiking boot!!! However, with this knowledge, I would still probably buy these again.

I just got these, so have not worn them outside or for an extended period of time. Since they don't make half sizes, I'm at a disadvantage - I usually wear a 7.5 (US). But I really need something with a traction sole for the winter, so I think I'll stick with the UK 6 (US 8) that I ordered. I'd rather go too big than too small. I put in some over-the-counter orthotics and wore a really thick sock, and that helped a lot. These boots don't have much inside padding at all.

Ed from California - The look is killer but shoe not wide enough and felt a half size smaller than marked. I like my Dr. Marten 8287 much better. I would always buy from Zappos.com. They have great service and match competitor pricing. The shoes show up the next day! I don't know how they do it.

The classic - This is the classic Doc boot to own. I've been wearing them for twelve years. The only boot you can wear out of the box without having to break them in!
