I've worn work boots all my working career and
Dr. Marten's boots have been the best boots I've
ever worn. I think the reason I like so much is that you can't wear out the soles. I have worn more comfortable boots on occasion but nobody sells those type of boots anymore.

I only have one complaint and that is on my left heel the boot had dug into my heel causing blisters. The right one is fine. I'm just weird. Other than that they are great and I have never had a problem with them before, these are my second pair. The other pair lasted 6 years!!!

I am a printer and on my feet 10 hours a day. It seems that the Doc Martens hold up a little bit longer than my Red Wings did and at about 20 dollars cheaper, I buy two pairs a year.

This boot fits great. Only complaint I have is that the heel loop broke on the two pairs I've bought, (the original AND replacement) Definitely get the Docs from England. Zappos service is excellent. Very helpful/informative.

I think the Euro/American sizing charts need to be reviewed for a better size comparison. My shoes are at least a full size too big. Overall I am happy with my boots, though.

Worth shopping online -
The shoes we bought turned out to be a great value. The same shoe at the mall was $40 more and still wasn't exactly what I wanted. The shipping and time of arrival was exactly as stated on the website. I ordered right before Christmas and had no problems.
My only issue was the box arrived damaged and very dusty. Also the shoes had to be cleaned before they could be worn.
I would definitely order from Zappos again.

When Irish eyes are smilin -
Recently purchased a pair of these black greasies
for a trip to Ireland, loved the look, but found I needed to add a pair of insoles for all the walking we did. They definitly kept my feet warm and dry. Recommended with insoles.

Soles stink -
I've had these boots for a year and a half - they're very nice looking, match well with casual wear pants. One thing, the soles suck... I'm having to get both soles completely replaced because they're worn through after only a year or so. Doc Martens needs to take after Timberland and put some decent soles in their boots, especially since we're paying $139 a pair for these!

Myth or reality?
No doubt classic style Dr. Martens look ultra cool and it is no surprise that people really like their old Dr. Martens. Recommended, but with a couple of things to be aware of...
I don't know if some of these reviewers have had other expensive boots or shoes, but Dr. Martens don't really last all that well compared to other 100+ shoes and boots, in fact the leather tends to crack and the soles may split when used as actual work shoes. Nor are they all that comfortable. I know I'll never wear them on the job again.
The unlined leather takes getting used to, and the soles may hurt your feet if you have problems. There are no removable insoles in these shoes, and the sizing is hit or miss. Remember, no half sizes.

The stlye of this shoe is great! I have owned these shoes for several months trying to break-in the shoe but the back strap on the ankle still hurt my feet. Would return but have worn shoes trying to get them to "break-in". I would recommend wearing with heavy socks and laces loose.

Disappointed.
The leather is nice and soft and these had the least break-in time of any Docs I've ever had, but the sole has started to split after just a few months of on-and-off wear. For this price, I expect much, much better quality and I even got one of the last Made in England models. This has happened to a few of my Docs, so I'm pretty sure this isn't just a defective pair.

These shoes look great, they are my 5th pair of Docs. This is the 2nd time I have bought online, and I don't think its a good idea for everyone, but luckily they have free s/h and free returns. This shoe was a little too big for me and made annoying scratch marks on my upper heel as well as the top of the front of my foot. It takes a while for Docs to break in, but these have to go back.

I don’t know if my feet have blown up like balloons, because I’ve recently retired a pair of Doc Martens I had been wearing for 5 years...but the pair I received recently were ok lengthwise but were narrow. The Zappos sales person was excellent. I just wish they would make these shoes in wider sizes...

Read all the reviews and bought the 939 Aztec Crazy Horse. Eagerly awaited...just arrived 5 minutes ago...put them on and...a no padding, too wide work boot that I couldn't cinch up to get tight enough. I bought the size UK 13/14 US made in China.

I like the look so I ordered them. I tried them on and was suspiscious of the comfort but who can tell walking around the house (especially carpeted). The real test was a day on the job (concrete and tile). After the first day my feet, knees and hips hurt. No support, no cushion, NO WAY. Unfortunately, the leather (that is very supple) wrinkles as soon as you wear them for any amount of time and Zappos has a policy that they must appear unworn.

I bought this pair of boots from Zappos online because I could not find this style in the store. I originally ordered a size UK 10, which is the same size as a US 11. Well the shoe was way to small! So I ordered the next size up a UK 11, Which is a US 12. This one was way to big! I tried wearing two pairs of socks and insoles to make them fit, but it was no use. Dr. Marten just doesn't make this boot in my size. I was shocked because I have a pair of Docs that have lasted me for more than eight years and were the most comfortable boots I ever owned. This pair that I ordered was the closest match I could find to the style of my old pair. I am extreemly disapointed!

I've heard so much about how great this particular brand of shoes is. I ordered my shoes on-line (can't find this model in shoe stores I visited) and had it delivered less than a year ago. I tried using it a number of times thinking that, maybe, it needs some "breaking in" before I can be comfortable with it, but unfortunately it just got worse. It's very uncomfortable and gives me so much pain in my foot that I don't use them anymore. I tried using sole cushions but still: the same result. My feet start to hurt within a few hours of using it. It's the only pair of shoes I have that's giving me so much discomfort. Looks good, but it sucks!

Not up to the name...
My son wears a size 16 in these boots and he is on his second pair. On both pairs the rubber at the toes have peeled away from the toes. With the size of the shoe, the leather is not very supportive and looks sloppy after a few weeks of wear. My son has been more without these boots then in them with the time it takes to ship and reship...
