When I first got the green boots, I'm afraid I thought they seemed a bit cheap and plasticky; however, once I began to wear them, they became my daily shoe. I walked to and from work in them, for 2-2.5 miles per day. The looked good, and I got a few compliments on them. Unfortunately, a crack developed in the green surface at one point, and the darker material underneath showed through. I took the boot by the local Doc Marten store to ask if anything could be done to fix it, and I was told it was unlikely and reminded that the shoes needed to be treated regularly--which I'd been doing. I don't wear these anymore, partly because they now have a defect, and partly because I don't want to make the defect worse. It's a pity they didn't remain in good condition for more than a few months, but I suppose they probably were made to look cool more than to endure a lot of mileage.

These Docs are a classic and fit perfectly as usual. Prompt shipment and great service.

Great boots! I had a pair back in the 90's that I wore for 2.5 years straight and decided to try my luck with them now. I cannot tell a difference in quality if there is one. As for fit, I ordered the US size 9 and they are great (I wear an 8.5 Extra wide). Break-in was easier than I thought based on some other reviews and is nothing more than to be expected from real leather boots. I've already worn them for a week and a half - every day and I've gotten more complements on them than I ever got with my other boots! Insoles are a bit thin/lack arch support, but they are not 'uncomfortable' - just added a little bit more padding and I'm all set.

I have been wearing Docs for years! I just bought another pair. But that is after I about four years of wearing my last pair. Docs have always lasted a long for me. I wear them all the time.

I have to agree with others that the quality on the leather has gone down. Size wise, I wear a 9.5 US, I bought the UK 9 and added the inserts and they fit perfect. So, if you are a US size, order a UK size 1 smaller, if you are a half size, add the inserts and you will be set.

Love Dr. Martens. Great boots that last for years. Comfortable and great looking. As always, Zappos makes buying shoes as painless as possible. Great shipping from and to, if for some reason you're not happy.

Love the look of these boots. Solid looking. Took a few days and blisters to break in. Got a size smaller and they fit great. Only thing: haven't even worn them a couple of days and already the leather is peeling and flaking. They are cheaply made uppers even though they have a solid sole wish I would have went with another pair because of the flaking, peeling leather.

There is a seam that runs along the top of the shoe that cuts into the top of your foot (front of ankle). It would be a great shoe with the exception of this. It is extremely painful! Don't think it would be possible to break in, seems like a defect.

The size is true to spec. I am a US size 10 and based on prior reviews to buy a size down as it comes oversized, I did. But I had to exchange it as it was now too small.

AWESOME Customer Service! I had to exchange for a different size and my boots were out of stock. Zappos let me know when they got them back in and sent me my new pair before they even got the originals back! Everyone I spoke with there were very personable and bent over backwards trying to help me.

I purchased these for my 15 year old son. He is very happy with them. It took a few days to break them in, but he wears them everyday. I like them because they are appropriate for most occasions and they can easily be cleaned. He wears an 11 in running shoes, but we sized down according to reviews and they fit.

Honestly, I've avoided most boots due to comfort issues for years now, but these break the pattern. Took very little time to break in, and now that they're soft and pliable, it's almost magical walking around in them. Even though they aren't the UK version (Mine are from Vietnam), the construction seems tight. My only note on these shoes is that I originally bought a different pair which were supposedly my size in the US (I wear a size 14US/13UK), but they were cramped and seemed a half size too small. I bought these in a 15US/14UK and though they are a bit big/loose, it's still super comfortable. Compared to the other sizing comments, I'd warn anyone who wears a 14 to buy a size up, specifically.

This is my 3rd pair of black 8-eye Docs (#1460). Love them. Fit well, seams are solid. Leather is good quality.

Very frustrated to have had these Doc Martens for a year and see both shoes have their soles begin tearing away from the bottom of the shoe. And, after really only wearing 2-3 times per week. Not happy to have to have them re-glued. I hope they last, but will reconsider buying Doc's in the future.

I've been a long-time Dr. Martens 1460 wearer over the years, and these are no different. Consistent fit and quality are what keep me coming back, although you won't have to that often since these boots usually last a good 5yrs+ when cared for. I chose the Grizzly color for a new office/shop environment which works well without having to switch to full-dress shoes. All-in-all a great boot with no-frills.

Normally wear a size 10.5 or 11 but these run a 1/2 size big the 10's fit me perfect. After a week of breaking in these are the most comfortable boots I have ever owned.

Like them. These were a little stiff to break in and took a little time to loosen up. They could use a little more support. I recommend buying insoles.

For people commenting on the poor quality, Doc Martens have not been the same since they started making them elsewhere. One can still order boots directly from the original manufacturer and get better quality but they cost more.

Great color and quality but way too big! I am not going to return them since I have already worn them on the farm, thicker socks will suffice. They are very comfortable.

Hooray for Docs! Get these and you won't regret it, but be prepared for a slight break-in period (well worth it). I had a green pair about 20 years ago and the sizing and styling are still true to form. Can't go wrong as style never goes out of fashion!

Nice boots for casual wear. Definitely not for real blue collar work or long periods of tramping about. I have a low arch and these are very comfortable. Also I wear a D width and they fit loose without and insole. The leather requires little to no break in time. Size 12 slightly big.
