Bought these as a gift for a friend. The classic style is timeless and it's a very versatile boot. He needed them for work since he's on his feet all day and wanted decent ankle support . He said they definitely needed breaking in , so don't expect to wear them for hours straight out of the box. But they seem to be well made and are otherwise comfortable .

I've been buying Dr. Martens for going on 25 years now and have never been disappointed. The boots look fantastic and, once they were broken in, feel great. The best part is knowing that with Dr. Martens, you have a pair of boots that will last a long time.

I've been wearing Docs daily for a quarter century. The 1460 is still comfortable, still looks great. My beef is that they simply do not last like they used to and the price keeps going up. Looking back over our (mine and my wife's) Zappos order histories, the 1460's are 50% more expensive over the past decade. Meanwhile, each successive pair lasts a shorter amount of time. In the 90's, I think I bought two pairs of Docs that lasted me the whole decade (my teens and twenties). They went through hard wear. I'm now older, slower, and work a desk job and don't put these through nearly as much on weekends. Yet on each pair, the sole splits apart between layers after about 10 - 12 months, tops. Stretching out each pair gets harder and harder each time around. I don't want to change up my brand. But if this pair doesn't last... I just may have to. tl;dr: Still a comfy, good-lookin' boot, but it'll only last you about 10 - 12 months of every day, light- to modest-impact wear.

These gave me a blister on my right ankle. They provide medium arch support. However you can buy high arch dr Marten insoles that provide excellent arch support and once they are broken in you can put them in your boots. I don’t know how long it takes to break them in as I’ve only had them w couple of days. I have a similar pair in the Virginia style but they didn’t require breaking in.

So disappointed in the low level of quality in recent years. Bought a pair 9 months ago (July 2017) and after daily wear the leather cracked clean through by the toes of both boots,, letting the lining show and water get in. These were to replace a pair bought a year and a half earlier (April 2015), and that pair stood up to daily wear for only a year and a half before a sole cracked clean through. The soles were better quality back when they were made in the UK. They used to last at least 2 years before either the leather or soles cracked. Not these days.

The color, looks black on your site, but brown, wrong color.

I’ve fallen in love with the Docs brand! I recently ordered the 1460 Boot and can now see what all of the fuss is about! This is a great Boot! The universal sizing is a plus since I wear an odd shoe size: 11.5, but the size 11 fits me perfectly with room to spare!

These boots are awesome. I bought them in 2009 and have worth them about once a week since then (12/2017). They show virtually no wear whatsoever. I’ve worn them hunting a number of time and walked through creeks and everything. Love these boots.

Just viewed them outside of the package and thought there is nothing feminine about them. They just look like ice skate boots without the blades. I know these are popular but not my style. Returned.

It's a classic. You really can't go wrong with the 1460. I've been a fan of the black greasy since back when they were all made in England. Still, a solid choice and last for years.

These felt and looked great. Wore them out for Father's Day, walked all day and my feet weren't hurting like I thought they would. Great buy.

Quirky, fun style and image on high quality Doc Martin boots. I was afraid the design would rub off over time, but thus far, they still look great. Little big (wish there were half sizes) but adding the Doc Martin shoe inserts snugged them right up. Love these boots - they get lots of compliments and attention!!

Great boots! Easy to wear with anything and like more leather boots the more you wear them the more comfortable they are. Highly recommended.

This was my second pair of Martens and I could feel the crappy Chinese quality coming through the shoes souls. The pair of boots were uneven, one fit well and the other was just was horrible. It was as if I was wearing two different pairs of boots. I gave them some time thinking it was just me and the boot break each other in, nope wrong again. The left boot nearly cut into my heal, it wore off the skin of my left heal after wearing them all day. I'm seriously just considering getting a refund, I expected better quality.

These shoes are perfect for rainy weather. They do take a while to break in so I recommend putting a tennis ball inside each shoe for a night or two for the leather to stretch. Once they're broken in they are much more comfortable than they seem.

Where do I begin with one of the most famous and classic boots of all time? I'm happy to say that these are my third pair going, and my first Made in England pair - I got the cherry red (now called oxblood). And I'm completely happy so far. True, you do begin with a bit of hell as you need to break them in, but that's a trademark quality of, well, quality leather boots. But then, you're rewarded afterwards with not just heaven, but heaven for a lifetime. Two years down the road, the toes have very visible creases already (I'm a very abusive wearer, apparently, and I always tend to tiptoe or bend my feet), but zero signs of deterioration, and the promised heaven of comfort. Not only are they tough and comfortable, they're really handsome and timeless-looking, but with a modern twist, owing to its dark red color rather than the more traditional brown. Unlike many Docs fans out there, I wear mine mostly with the pants down, as I reserve them for rather smarter get-ups (for purely casual, I turn to my Timberland or Caterpillar classic boots), but I have also tried wearing them with skinny jeans either rolled up or tucked in, or with shorts, with equally happy results. My only complaint, which I notice has happened to ALL the 1460s I've owned, is that the laces on the right boot tend to get undone, even with the most proper of lacing. I've remedied this by lacing them non-traditionally - I lace up to just the 6th or 7th eye up, wrap them around the back of the boot, then just do a double knot. Not only is it more secure for me, it's a versatile look I can rock regardless of how I wear them. I did say that these are made in England, which is perceived as being of superior quality to made in China - so far, none of my MIC boots have failed me, so I can't speak about it, though I DO feel the boots are a lot less flimsy. As such, while it's been two years, I expect two and twenty more of long-lasting use - and by then, I'll replace them with yet another pair. Perhaps a black one that time.

Finally writing this review 7 years after buying them. Great boots and they look better with time. I wear them daily as a motorcycle commuter and they've held up well. Highly recommend these boots!

Love these boots. Everyday wear until I broke my wrist and tieing laces became impossible.

I really liked these boots at first. They were good looking, waterproof and seemingly durable. After a year and a month they are completely shot. The leather has holes in it where the boot flexes as I walk, the tread has worn out, and the left sole is cracked. I work in a retail environment and walk about a mile a day 5 days a week. I kept up with the polish and use a boot dryer, but it made no difference. In the future I know to look out for cheap materials like this and I will be purchasing higher quality boots even though it will mean paying more.

LOVE love love the pattern on these boots! Fun, funky, wild. I get tons of comments every time I wear them. I typically wear a 6.5, these were a bit big, so I added the Dr. Marten's insoles which snugged them up to be more comfortable. Hoping that the pattern doesn't wear or rub off over time, but otherwise these seem to have the standard high quality of Dr. Martens.
