Super weird. I ordered some and hoped I could use with my custom orthotics. They came and the insole wasn’t removable. So they were too tight with my orthotic. I returned and ordered one size up and the pair that came did a have a removable insole, so now they were too big with standard insole taken out and mine installed. They also fit weird with both the insole and my orthotics so I returned both. Wish I could try the smaller size with a removable insole but there’s no telling if it would be removable or not.

I actually loved this boot and was excited to have another pair (used to have a pair from the 90s). However, a grommet that the laces go through was defective and not even installed - it was just hanging there. Given this, I sent them back. I really wish they were still made in England! You can tell the quality has gone down.

Bought these for my husband's birthday, at his request. He owns 3 pair of Dr. Martens and has had one of the pair of boots (also 1460) for 20+ years. When I saw the pictures that others had posted and read some of the reviews I was skeptical about the quality, but bought them anyway. I told my husband about what I had seen and read as he opened the box and told him I thought they were being manufactured overseas. He said, "they make them in the UK".. well, he was wrong. Lo and behold the tag on the inside says Thailand. The quality seems really lacking. The leather (we bought Napa leather in black) was cheap and flimsy. We cannot justify $145 for a pair of cheaply made boots. Back they went.

Been wearing these boots since the '80s. This is the only style I ever bought until recently? I bought a pair of Chelseas (which I love). These boots have been great for decades. I love them dearly

I like the actual boots, but was not happy with the generic box they came in. I want the original Dr Marten Box not some plain cheap looking one. If that’s the case they should have been discounted. I am a shoe collector and enthusiast and yes the box matters.

The new 1460 do not have a removable insole. Sooo if you need an orthotic like i do youre out of luck. These have a sewn in leather insole overall not bad but..

I’m a 10.5 and previously had a size 10. They never felt right; too tight at my big toes. I tried an 11 but thought they were too loose in the heels. My wife suggested trying keeping the 11’s and try some dr. Scholl inserts. I did and they fit perfectly. I was always bummed that they didn’t make 1/2 sizes, but now that I’ve found the fix, I’m thrilled. Love these boots.

I’ve always liked Doc Martin boots and these are no exception. Solid boots, although not the most comfortable, these ones are a step up with the softer soles. I like them a lot.

So first things first. I have a 9.5 shoe size and Docs don't make 1/2 sizes. I ordered a pair of Docs in a size 9 and they were just too small, so definitely order a 1/2 size up. They now fit perfect and if you know about Docs, you know what you're getting. Still cool as can be.

Ouch!!! This is possibly a torture chamber for your feet. Unless you’re into self mutilation choose anything else. It cuts across the back of the ankles like a dull rusty axe.

Can we talk about these iconic boots? Super comfortable! These bad boys can be worn for hours and still feel great! These Dr. Martens stay true to their historic roots of being durable and edgy. Punk-rock meets fashion. Thank you, Dr. Martens!!

I sent these back so this review is just to give any future shoppers insight into sizing. In 'normal' shoes I wear a women's 7.5 and in boots and running shoes an 8. I ordered these in UK6/M7/W8. Length-wise they fit. And the insole was comfortable - had a fair amount of cushion. However the part around the ankles was huge. If I tightened the laces as tight as they could go the two sides met or even over-lapped. So there was just too much fabric (leather). I don't have especially skinny ankles either so I don't know what I could've done except wear super thick socks which would've made the foot too tight. I also tried the women's 1460 and it had the same too-big feeling around the ankle but also it felt narrow to me around the toebox. So I'm bummed but I couldn't get these to work. I used to wear them 20 years ago but I guess then I didn't care so much about comfort and just wore thick-thick socks and they were ok.

The upper felt plastic, immediately decided to return them because of this. Terribly disappointing.

These are my first pair of Doc Martens. I went with the size suggested for me and I'm swimming in these boots. If you are a first time Doc Marten buyer I would consider going a full size down as I wish I would have. Other than the sizing they are a nice and comfortable pair of boots.

Hideously cheap feeling boots. The "leather" looks and feels like plastic. Multiple manufacturing defects per shoe. I don't blame the Vietnamese laborers for not caring too much given their wages. I wouldn't buy these if they were $20 at a discount store. Wow.

UPDATE to my review of June 22, 2018 (filed as "Zappos Reviewer"). It is hard to express how furious I am. The quality of Docs continues to descend into nothingness. This pair, which I received on April 24, have failed. This after under three months of wear-and-tear at a desk job and minimal wear at home. The first two pics are from today (7/18/18) of this pair demonstrating what has happened after less than three months. The other two pics (9/30/17) are of my last pair, which had the same failure as the pair before them. With my previous pair, they generously offered me the opportunity to ship them to corporate for an examination at my own expense. If they found a manufacturing problem, they would replace and reimburse. Otherwise, I could have them back (a few weeks later) at my own expense for shipping. A more expensive product. A warranty that comes at cost to the consumer. What happened? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me thrice, lost a customer for life. Doctor Martens. Once a great, high-quality boot. Now more overpriced crap. After more than 25 years of loyalty, it looks like I'm punching out on Docs and looking for something new. Any recommendations?

always a great boot. color is great, makes a beautiful oxblood, very subtle effect. size is spot on. just needed about 2-3 days to break in perfectly. i just got them wet and walked around all day until the dried. 2 days of that, night time i rubbed the oil on them. on the third day, i turned them oxblood and they fit like a glove. this is my 4th pair in 20 years. love my docs.

I wish I could write a better review. I've worn Docs daily for over a quarter century. And in that time, as with so much in life, I've seen decline. These boots, while they have the same style and the same initial comfort, do not have anywhere remotely near the durability they once had. Back in the 90's, I owned two pairs. One got me through high school with daily, hard wear. One got me through college. I retired each pair when the waffle simply wore out and the soles turned wholly slick. They were never retired for poor manufacture. They never fell apart. They never broke. They retained their style and charm. Over the 2000's, though, despite my daily wear getting lighter as I got older, they wore out more and more quickly. I'm not down to each pair lasting me about 12 months of a desk job and light weekend wear while I run errands. And all of this while the prices go up and up and up. A pair of black nappa 1460's cost me about $104 10 years ago. My latest pair (April 2018) cost me $154. That's a 50% price increase for about a 50% durability decrease. The typical problem I have is that layers of the sole de-laminate. They crack apart and insole padding starts slipping out. (Just this morning, a colleague and I were chatting and he mentioned the pull tag coming right out of his part; his being only about a year old.) Decreasing quality and increasing price is, in a word, unsustainable. I buy them out of habit, but the decline has me, sadly, looking elsewhere. It's tough to be a loyal customer--if not devotee--when you feel repeatedly screwed by poor quality. This may be my last pair of Docs.
