I have bought these types of shoes for years, love the style hate that the soles wear out to quickly. In less than a year the soles just behind the toes and before the arch always wear through the material! You have a habit of not replying to my complaints on shipping! Need to ship directly buy UPS and drop the turnover to the USPS. USPS lost my shipment for over a week and I asked for your help with your reply was we are not UPS!

Shoes look fine but unable to use them because the insole cannot be removed as I was told it could be by an online customer service agent. I specifically asked for help finding options for loafers where the insole could be removed because I use special shoe inserts. The online chat person was very helpful....or so I thought in identifying options. The only problem is, the key wording they mentioned (I believe it was permanent insole or something like that) that would tell me the insole was NOT removable did not work. He told me any shoes that didn't say that the insoles were removable. We avoided that wording...but still I would have to destroy a brand new pair of shoes to use my inserts.

Disappointed. I had a pair of these over 10 years ago and they were sooo comfortable. That's why I decided to try them again. Big mistake. Seems to be no padding on sides or bottoms inside.

Unfortunately, I have found that there is great variance in this particular shoe. I have Wide feet so I need the 5E, but sometimes the shoe is longer, wider, etc. One order will be more comfortable and the next, not so much. I also wish it came in Brown. Joe Miles

This is the second pair of these I have. The soles of the first pair literally disintegrated. They fit so perfect and were so comfortable after 7 years I bought another pair. My shoemaker said the soles could not be repaired.

I consider this a dressy enough shoe to wear with a suit or sport coat and purchased two pair, one in black and one in brown. I rarely dress up enough to wear them so they only get worn on special occasions or on formal nights when cruising. The black pair has held up fine. The sole on the brown pair literally cracked and chunks literally fell out of the shoe while wearing on a cruise. I'd say they have been worn maybe a dozen times over a seven year period. I really thought these would last forever. The soles have no wear, but just fell apart. Very disappointing.

I ordered the exact same shoe I wore for a year. The old ones eventually fell apart. I don't know why this new shoe didn't even fit on my foot. Maybe different materials? I will have to go into a store and try some on before ordering new ones.

I bought my first pair of this Florsheim style in 1985 and wore them them right out of the box for a 17 day trip to England and Scotland--- lots of walking on the TWA tour. Loved them and they lasted for several years with everyday use. I am now on my 4th pair, but this last pair only lasted about a year. The soles have worn through on the right shoe and the left one is now making my feet very sore---- particularly the big toe which appeared to be infected. I quit wearing the shoes a week ago and started wearing slippers. It only took 7 days for my toe to heal. The Rivas went in the trash. I yearn for the comfort and durability of my previous pairs of Rivas. I'm reminded of the TV ad that said, "Where's the Beef?" Now I'm saying "Where's the quality (of Riva shoes) ?" I will order another pair, but with guarded optimism that I just bought a lemon and the next pair will have the old quality to them.

I've had several pairs of Rivas over the years and I have found them to be very comfortable and the upper leather is very durable. However, the soles of these shoes tend to develop "cracks" after a year or two of use (as the "rubber" dries out), and more importantly, unlike Florshiem's leather-soled shoes (for example, the Como), these soles cannot be replaced (as you can with leather soles). None of my local shoe repair stores are able to replace the soles, and when I contacted Florsheim about getting soles for refurbishment, they indicated that they do not provide replacement soles. So, be forewarned...

I bought this shoe a few years ago and went to put them on and the heel completely broke into many chunks like it rotted. I will never buy these or recommend them again!
I'd also recommend:

I saw the shoes. I bought the shoes. Comments are not needed. I did't realize that Florsheim was so insecure that they needed 'good boy' praises

I've worn 6 - 8 pairs of Rivas over the years, and been generally pleased with them. However, on the last 2 pairs the soles have been defective, that has never happened before. As they aged, the soles developed cracks, then split, then chunks of sole begin to fall out under the ball of my foot. The salesman told me "the sole will never wear out, it will outlast the uppers." Not true! 8 - 10 years ago that was true, but you must be making the sole differently now, they are not as durable.

Wore 91/2 ordered same which was too small. Returned easily got ten which is too big. Unlike the three bears, nothing is just right. Returning the shoes. Disappointing, as I have an eee foot and this model usually fits.

Attractive shoe, until you slip it on your feet, and you discover there is no foot bed liner, and your feet are resting on the stitching around the sole. Gets uncomfortable real fast! Since "imported" is the way of the world I wish you'd indicate WHERE they were imported from. I have many "imported" shoes, but this is my first, and last, shoe made in this specific country that I will knowingly purchase.

My feet swell during the day, and by the evening these are the only comfortable shoes I own. My single issue is that the sole separated from the body and were unable to be worn. A shoemaker said it would be too expensive to repair, about $75. For $100 pair of shoes. I wonder if Florsheim repairs their shoes. In the meanwhile I am ordering another pair.
