I have had success with Florsheim shoes for years...but the new item I just received is terrible. The sole material is so hard it will not flex at all and the interior forward of the arch is rough and hard. The outside appearance is good. Overall not what I expected for the price.

Ordered this pair after ordering another pair, but different brank. I ordered the same size as before but when I compared the two bottom to bottom, this pair was 3/4 of inch longer. Also, very stiff.

I buy this shoe because I have a hard to find size and this shoe comes in a 13-B. However, the last two pairs I purchased the outside of the left shoe the leather has torn/cracked and opened next to the ball of the left small toe area. The last pair did this after only three weeks of wear. I do not put a lot of wear on them. I am a businessman that operates a wedding business.

Looking for a full leather sole, stylish, keeps its looks, shines.
Couldn't believe the price for this shoe. However, it is extremely tight in the standard width. This will be the first time I've ever had to buy a shoe in an E width. Also, the E width is "not in stock" (at this time ?).
Florsheim has a good brand, and this is my first purchase from their website. Again, could not believe the price, but you usually get what you pay for. I hope they are true to their reputation and my past good Florsheim purchases (through local retailers).

I have a very wide foot and Florsheim is the only place I can find EEE shoes. I usually don't have a problem with Florsheim, but the shoes I ordered the leather was very stiff and couldn't walk in them. Felt like I had on snow boots. Had to send them back. Will look again for something else.

Bad sizing -
It seems typical that Florsheims shoes run larger than indicated. After wearing for about two hours, the shoe slipped up and down as I walked. Can only wear them as a casual shoe and not for business dress.

Very nice shoes, but the wide width is not nearly wide enough. Disappointed that I had to return them.

Had to return this shoe, although this is a beautiful looking shoe & I really wanted it, there is no liner inside so the stitching from the sole is exposed and that makes wearing & walking in it totally impossible as received. Upon inserting a store bought liner the shoe was too small to fit the foot, therefore it was returned.

Regarding my purchase of Richfield shoes , I have been a customer of Florsheim for many years. Their products were always the highest quality and were sized to perfection. But , recently , all of the purchases , that , I have made , resulted in returns. The Richfield was such a comfortable shoe to wear , they were my favorites !!!! But , the recent purchases including the Richfield , was sooooo NARROW. I had to return it The Florsheim company , must check the specifications sent to the manufacturer , and correct the discrepancies .

The shoes were delivered on time and the product looked very nice. I ordered a 10 3E, but because of my high instep, the did not fit. I returned them. I probably need to only get lace-up shoes due to the instep. Florsheim is one of the only manufacturers that makes very wide shoes, so I will look to purchase again from Florsheim.

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
My husband has worn Florsheim Ritchfield slip-ons for many years because they provided good support. He has worn a 3E for most of his adult life. The last time we ordered these in a 3E width, we thought they seemed more narrow than previously ordered shoes. So naturally he wore the tight shoes thinking they would stretch out. They didn't....they split out in no time. Being hubby's favorite dress shoe we decided to try them again but in a 5E width. What a disappointment. These are marked 5E but are more like a medium width. Hubby couldn't get more than his toes in the shoe. Sorry, these are going back and will try a different brand.

It feels as if one shoe is a different size from the other. Hard to believe. I plan on returning them.

I really like this shoe however the last pair of Richfield's that I ordered I had to stop wearing them because every time I took a step, there was aloud clicking sound on the left sole of the shoe. no matter what I did, the clicking on the shoe would only get louder every time I took a step. I have not worn them because of that.
These are the only shoes that come in "B" size and that's one reason I order these shoes...

Wore these shoes for about 4 months before they cracked at the sides. The shoe is marked as leather, but it is vinyl. Took the shoes to a shoe repair shop and they were amazed that the shoe said all leather upper in the shoe when in deed it was not. Will not buy this model again, but LOVE Zappos and will be a customer for life...

I have bought Richfields for 30 years. I typically get 7 to 8 years service. On the current pair, the leather is cracking after 2 1/2 years. I have a pair of Royal Imperials that is over twenty years old and the leather is fine.

You state the "W" is the same as "EEE." I bought three pair or shoes from you....this one was extremely uncomfortble and not properly rated. Not good for something being bought on line. I am returning for replacement with 5 E and pray that works.
The other two pair were fine!

After gently wearing this pair of shoes about 2-3 times a month for 3½ years, the upper on the right shoe started separating from the layer underneath. It was obvious to me and my shoe repairman (who couldn't repair it) that the upper is vinyl or some kind of plastic, not leather. The shoe was mislabeled "Leather upper, quarter lining and sole. Balance man made. Made in India."
The shoes were fine until they started coming apart, but now these falsely labeled shoes are worthless. I wouldn't recommend them at all.

What is the life time of a pair of shoes? I would say shoes that are not worn everyday & only on special events & taken well cared of, should still be in excellent condition after 5 years. My second & now my third pair of this shoe have not stood up well. The "leather" peeled on both pairs. The second pair were graciously replaced by Florsheim. Now, for the third pair, we're told by a Florsheim rep that the shoes are over 5 years old & suffering from "dry rot" & there is nothing they can do. I have been wearing Florsheim shoes since I was very young, as my parents said the poor & middle class should only buy the best as they would last. But when I brought this pair of shoes to the shoemaker to have them repaired, he said there was nothing he could do. He said the uppers were not leather but vinyl over rubber. This was a big surprise to me. Last August 2009, I purchased a pair of "Como" & read some of the reviews recently. One of the complaints was that the shoe wore out too quickly. If this is the case, I say that Florsheim is using inferior quality goods & I will be looking for another shoe company to purchase my shoes from in the future.

These are the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever owned in my life.
They felt fine at first, but within a week I could barely walk. I get the feeling that they will be sitting in my closet for a few years and then donated to Goodwill, although I'll feel slightly guilty for putting someone else's feet through the same torture that mine have been through.

I first purchased this style shoe twenty years ago. My first pairs lasted over ten years, with fairly regular use. I resoled them four times. They lasted well. My second pair lasted only 3-4 years, wearing out the uppers. These last two pairs that I just purchased exhibit much thinner uppers, indicating that to save costs, Florsheim has scrimped on material (as well as apparent labor - the stitching is inferior to what I have known). I am saddened by this, because I thought the shoes were among the best I had ever owned. I would rather pay MORE for quality, than scrimp on cost for a shoddy product. I have since moved onto another manufacturer, who can still provide quality.
