I've owned these a number of times. I think it's terribly misleading to call them just "leather" when they are kidskin. I understand that it's a type of leather but the thickness of goat skin vs cow skin is vastly different. That said I would not wear these as formal shoes because everyone complains about the creasing. I think the creasing is great but 1) it does require a different level of care to get a lot of time out of them and 2) I wouldn't consider these formal in any way. They're great casual boots. For the fit - if you are a heel stander like I am, these shoes are VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. When I had jobs that required me standing, I would be in pretty nasty physical pain after a shift. I found that most insoles were too thick to insert, as well as most heel gels. I found some very thin ones that helped a bit. Cant recall where from. Other than that, they're great for my rake shaped feet. Pretty standard through the arch but wide ball and toes. These have a PERFECT toe box for me where many other shoes are a little snug at the ball and toes but E/EE are too wide heel to arch. I can't scroll up on mobile to edit, but I wanted to also add that I had a pair of these that I resoled three times before the upper finally let out. They're fairly sturdy if you take care of them apporpriately. They last me about a year if I don't bother treating them well. I haven't tried the wolverine or red wing heritage styles because I fear they'll be much more bulky than these.

This is a good looking boot that has been made for a very long time. So long that mens foot sizes have changed. They size a little long and a little narrow; they are also a a bit tight across the top of the foot. I have returned three pair to find the correct fit.
