Love the color and square toe

I ordered these boots in the size 10 , but didn't realize they were a wide (missed the W in the title). They were too big, even though 10 is my regular size. Of course there was way too much heel slippage with the wide and the 10 just seemed too big all the way around. Also, the tan color didn't appeal to me. It was very one-dimensional and had a rough dry feel to it. It appeared that for once, the recommendations regarding ordering 1/2 size down might be prudent. Well, the 9.5 R fits perfectly and the Dark Brown color is much prettier. The brown leather is a smoother softer variety that I really like. These are perfect. The left boot is a little hard to pull on, but I'm sure that will improve. I'd be more worried about the heel slippage (just a small amount with these) if not for the many reviews I read. Apparently, if you wear these around enough, the boot will mold to your foot/ankle and mostly eliminate the slippage. I feel confident this will happen because I wore the larger size around the house for a day and the slippage seemed to diminish some, even with the too-large size. My feet are narrow with almost no instep to speak of. I cannot imagine anyone with truly wide feet or a high instep being able to wear these. It seems like they would be excruciating for a foot with a high instep, just saying. These boots are gorgeous and so well constructed. The look and feel like they should last a hundred years!

These boots are beautiful and so well crafted. They are the highest quality. I mean, Goodyear soles, seriously..... and they look and feel like it to. I can't say enough about the quality. Frye's been doing this for over a hundred years and they've got it down. I ordered the tan color because it was a little cheaper, hoping they'd be closer to brown. I do like the tan color, which is actually closer to light brown, but I would prefer real brown. Frye labels their colors a little differently than others, so it's not always easy to know what you're going to get. Not only that, each product varies from another same product quite a bit sometimes. Now, the tricky part, about the fit. I always wear a size 10, on the rarest of occasions a size 9.5 or even 10.5. I have a narrow foot and heel (even though I'm not narrow at all) and no arch to speak of. After reading all the reviews and decided to go with my normal size because that usually works best for me when there are all sorts of contradictory recommendations. I put them on immediately and easily, no trouble getting my foot in at all. This is probably due to my narrow foot with almost no arch. Unfortunately, the narrow heel is my biggest problem and these boots slip like crazy. I gotta say, if you have a high arch, or maybe even a normal one, I think these would be very painful. The boot seems to be the right length, although a half size shorter could work. I was about to pack them up and send them back before I started reading more reviews about heel slippage. Quite a few people claim the boot will mold to my foot and stop slipping if I wear them for a while. I'm trying that around my house (about a day) and they do feel a little more secure. I tried them with a sock and they definitely feel/fit better (still heel slippage though), but I really want the no-sock option. I'm hoping they'll "mold" and allow for that. I ordered the size 9.5 and I'm going to keep wearing them around the house until I can try those. I'm hoping the 9.5 will be the perfect fit. If they're not perfect, I'm probably going to keep these because I do love them and I want them badly. They're super practical and versatile. I like the added height (with so much stability) and the boots look fantastic.

I ordered these in my regular shoe size after reading several reviews. As other reviewers noted, they are very stiff and hard to pull on, but thanks to the people who gut through the initial discomfort I knew I could do the same. After a couple days of wearing them (one in the house only) the leather has started to give a little and the heel slippage is decreasing. I anticipate getting many years out of these shoes and I'm sure after another month they're going to be the most comfortable shoes I own.

Loves this style of boot! I have them in the gray and I'm keeping the brown did not like the tan flat sued like boot not worn at all. A must have for the winter.
