These boots were just what I expected and I highly recommend them! They are comfortable, though the toe seems a bit narrow at first. They improve with each wear.

Like walking in cement blocks! Two years later and still stiff!

I have somewhat wide feet and a high instep, so I tried a half-size larger than my normal 6.5. Try as I might, I could not get the right boot over my instep. Argh! But then I thought, given Zappos' generous return policy, let me just try my regular 6.5 and see if there is a difference. Voila! The right foot still sticks a bit when I put the boot on, but once it's on, it's like the boots melt to fit my feet! Moral of the story: don't be dissuaded if one set doesn't fit. Another set might do the trick.

I love these boots so much I bought them in brown and black. They\'re very comfortable to wear (but I do need help getting my foot out of them). Big plus, they\'re made in the USA!

Great boot! I ordered this boot in my regular size and I think it fits fine. A little tight to get on to start, but have already loosened up after one or two wears. They do move around quite a bit at the heel, but that's how I expect this style boot to fit, and they don't blister or rub at all! If you were only going to wear with very thin socks or tights I can see that you might want to go down half a size, but I wear mine with heavy socks. My only off comment about these guys, they sure do smell like leather, and the smell is strong. Almost stinky. Generally not a big deal though!

What can I say? I am in LOVE with these boots! A few months ago I purchased the harness mule, and being of those blessed with larger calves, I didn't think these mid calf boots would fit. Much to my surprise they fit perfectly! The distressed leather look (that is in fashion right now) makes these look nicely weathered. They are fit well under boot leg flares and look great with a long skirt or leggings. But be certain to get a good knee sock as the leather may rub your calves a bit. The soles look like they will last for quite a few seasons. I am very pleased!

Yes, yes, yes - I am not usually a person that gushes over material objects, but these boots have changed my life... OK well, I love them, anyway. They do sort of change how you walk though 'cause they are heavy and force your heel down first. Plus, they fit me perfectly, so I don't understand how they can fit others well as I have a low volume foot.

These are cute but not as cute as they looked online. A bit bulky in the toe area. The size was a little short so maybe order a half size larger. The heel was too stiff and rubbed me raw just trying them on but I have a narrow heel and a regular foot so it’s not uncommon for me. The calf size was great and they are easy to put on/take off. Seemed warm.

One Great Boot!! I really love this boot. It was comfortable on Day One and gets better every day. I have a narrow to normal width foot, it fits perfectly everywhere. If you are normally between half-sizes, go with the smaller size.

I love these boots! I am 54 and my 27-yr old daughter has these also. Comfortable and stylish for any age. Have gotten many compliments when wearing them (from people of all ages). My daughter and I both had to exchange the first pair received for a half-size smaller; therefore, I would recommend ordering a smaller size than you normally wear.

Frye harness 8RWboots - These boots are perfect for jeans and weekend wear, a bit casual for work, I feel. They aren't uncomfortable (feel a bit like cowboy boots), but I am learning what works and what doesn't. I have a wide forefoot and a narrow heel. I also wear orthotics. I found that with a lightweight sock and the orthotics, the boots felt fine. Last week I wore a heavier wool sock, and my feet hurt after a while. So I will go back to the lighter socks. Zappos as usual, very timely delivery. I totally love the look of these boots, and it's true you do feel like strutting when you wear them! They take me right back to my college days!

Even better in person - These boots are even better looking in person. I have skinny legs and was afraid they'd be too chunky, but in fact they are more delicate looking in person due to the beautiful leather and slender footbed. I think they run large though as I am a 7 1/2 or an 8 and the 7 1/2 I got is too big and I have a size 7 on its way to my house as we speak. The toe bed is narrow though so beware, although I think for average width feet you'd be fine.

FRYE is FABULOUS! I love these boots. Ordered a half size up, and with socks they're just perfect (I work on my feet and definitely need a little room). Can't say enough about the quality of these beautifully made boots and love the cool, rough finish. And as usual, love dealing with Zappos. If only everything in my life could go as smoothly!

Love 'dem boots! Got a pair for me and my husband (so we could be "twins"). Boots are a little too big, especially around the heel, but they were still comfortable. I bought a leather foot bed insert which makes the fit just about perfect. Once everything is broken-in, I think they'll fit like a glove.

Great boot, weird fit. I love the casual, kick-butt look of these boots. I bought these as my everyday boots. My biggest problem with any shoe is that my wide feet are often swished in most shoes. I originally ordered these in the 12 inch height and went up a half size due to other's remarks. Well, they sloshed around on my feet and the heel slipped a lot, way more than I could stand. Also, the shaft was so wide that they would even look silly with my jeans tucked in. So, figuring I would only wear them under my jeans, I ordered these in my normal size 6. The heel no longer slipped, but my toes were cramped. I figured they would stretch, so I kept them. After wearing them a week, I realized that the left boot conformed nicely to my foot, but the right boot was still super-tight. I used some boot-stretch spray, and then shoved a small plastic cup into the end of the boot overnight. It worked; my boots fit great now, and I know I'll be wearing them more than anything else I have. Great for a narrow foot, but will conform to a wider foot with some effort. Unless you wear thick socks, I don't recommend going up a size, that's when the heel slippage thing acts up.

Comfy and Cool - I ordered my usual size 8 - at first I thought I couldn't get my right foot down the shaft (I broke my right foot years ago - it's a little larger than my left), but after a few wiggles, it slipped down easily. The boot was comfy, but too long. Could I use a half size smaller? Zappos arranged the exchange and the NEXT DAY I had my 7 1/2. I still had to wiggle to get down the shaft, but the fit was perfect with just a little extra in the toe. I was so surprised at how very comfortable and stable this boot feels. I'm still wearing them inside only for the break-in period. It's just the perfect heel height, perfect toe shape, perfect looking under pants - both dressy and casual. So I would say to anyone - don't be put off if you can't get down the boot shaft at first - wiggle down with just a stocking or barefoot and wear around the house. I was surprised at how fast these boots felt comfortable. I guess the only drawback is the price, but I think they can really be a shoe/boot that goes with everything. Great color, too - it's kind of neutral to match all your wardrobe.

A Classic - Wonderful classic look. Will only get more comfortable with wear. The lower height of the boot itself makes it so versatile. Highly recommend this boot.

Frye Harness 8R W - I love these boots. They're great looking, and quite comfortable. The heel does slip a little, but I don't mind that. They were a little narrow when I first put them on, but after a couple of wearings, they felt fine. I bought mine in the size I normally wear, and now that they've loosened up a bit, I think I might have been better off with a half size smaller. No biggy, I'll just wear thicker socks. These boots are so pretty and my husband loves them on me.

Oh my gosh! Very comfortable from the first time I wore them. I just hate wearing socks, so I actually wear them without socks, no problems at all. Extremely stylish, very cute with either skirts or jeans, toe is not too narrow. I have never owned western style boots before, so don't know how the heel is supposed to fit. The heel does slip on these, but the rest of the boot fits so well that it is very comfortable--although my heel moves as I walk, there is no rubbing or chafing. I have large calves that have trouble getting into boots-- although I have the 8 inch boots, I think even the 12 inch would fit over my calves comfortably. Definitely worth the money!

Should not have waited. A little heavy, but gives great support. Runs a little big, so fits best with mid-weight socks. Got tons of compliments!
