Very disappointed in the color. I have the smoke old town and love them. Super comfy, broken in, wear them almost every day. Just bought the tan because I wanted them in a different color. When they arrived, I placed the two pair of boots side by side, and my kids said, mom, why did you buy the same color boots??? the Tan color of the boots I received is not like the color that is in the picture at all.. ugh

Originally ordered shearling Vanessa Frye’s & they were a whole size (or more large) based on reviews ordered these in Smoke Old Town 1/2 size smaller 7.5 - my usual size 8 (considering the ‘Vanessa’ boots are enormous). HUGE MISTAKE! DO NOT SIZE DOWN. Couldn’t get my foot in 7.5- Zappos sent me an 8 (next day) perfect! I’m a consistent 8 (unless it’s a tiny designer Italian boot then 8.5). You won’t be able to get your foot in a smaller size & it WILL RUB! These are ‘cowboy’ boots so shove your foot in & let them conform to your foot. Heel slippage is normal - they are comfy & wont fall off- I wear them riding my motorcycle. Perfect. Very Durable. Stylish. Color is dark dark brown. Save yourself a headache & get your normal size!!!

I seen other people’s comments about people get 1/2 size smaller and I did and perfect fit.

Okay so I was so excited when I got these boots yesterday II Brown pair I got it an eight and they were perfect I read the recommended size reviews that suggested that the person wore an 8 and they went down a half size and it still fit. Unfortunately, that did not work for me at least at this point. I wore the boots to try to break them in and I am going to try them for another day before I hopefully I won't have to return them I used to wear a seven and a half before I had kids now I wear an eight seven and a half eighth so I'm hoping that these boots really stretch to a comfort level. the heel width is fine, it's the wide part of my foot and the initial putting on. I think I should have ordered a 7.5 wide I think that would have made the difference.

I ordered and returned several pairs of these because I kept receiving ones that were scratched up, or had black marks or glue on them. I have given up and will try ordering directly from Frye. Bummer, because I usually have great luck with Zappos shoes. On the upside, they seem like a great pair of boots. I agree with the suggestions to order half a size down (unless you have a very wide foot, in which case that probably isn't a good idea - they are a bit narrow near the toe).

These were nice boots - I got the 8R instead because the 12R hit just a little too high on my calf. Not an issue if wearing it with bootcut jeans, but didn't like the look as much in skinny jeans.

I normally wear a size 9 in boots. I own a pair of Harness 8R and they ran big so I ended up with a size 8.5. For the Harness 12R, they ran even bigger and I bought size 8. The Harness 12R also ran more narrow than the 8R. And for both the 12R and 8R I had to buy multiple pairs to find both a left and right foot boot that fit the same. I'm amazed that Frye does not have better quality control on sizing. Now that I have matching fit for both left and right boots however, I love these and they have been comfortable to wear all day straight out of the box!

Beautiful boots but I had to try 4 different pairs before I got the right fit. I think because these are hand made each pair fits a little bit differently.

I wanted to love these. The quality craftsmanship and slightly more versatile tread are fantastic. I wear a 10 or 11 and have medium width and arch. They went on with an easy tug and really fit like a glove (not easy for a pull-on boot, but I loathe zippers in boots!) My calf measures 15 1/2” and these left enough room for leggings or skinny jeans. But there was a faux silvery finish on the heel and around the sole I didn’t like. It may wear off over time but at this price point, I’m not keeping them unless I loooove them. Also, the squared design of these (while comfortable) made the toe look too long for my taste. Plus these wouldn’t be “every day” boots as the climate here is too warm. I will try Frye again for sure, when it makes more sense to invest in a great boot.

When will manufacturers realize that not all of us have toothpick legs? I couldn't even get my foot into the foot bed of this boot. After reading all the stellar reviews that claimed it would stretch and it was the go-to boot for everything, I was looking forward to giving it a try. Since it's a very thick leather, good luck with that whole stretching thing. This is definitely a boot for skinny legs and narrow feet. Once the boot is on, I imagine it is quite as difficult to remove as reviewers claimed.

Love these boots. Comfortable from first wear. Lots of compliments. Casual to dressy, soft durable leather, will be with me a long time I can tell.

I bought these boots 10 years ago as a loving gift to myself. I still wear them regularly. They are very versatile and very comfortable. I get lots of compliments on them every time I wear them. I often wear them with skirts and dresses, when traveling, as my warm and cozy shoes for going to the movies or other air-conditioned places… other leather shoes fall apart in a tropical climate but these seem to be standing the test of time. They are not moldy, they have not delaminated, the heel is not made of some mystery plastic that eventually crumbles and dry rots... I am starting to believe that Frye products are worth their premium price. I would probably work my sheep ranch in them based on their durability and comfort, but given the price (they’ve gone up $100 since I purchased them) I tend to want to save them for ‘town shoes’ to make them last as long as possible. Highly recommend this purchase!

I really wanted to like these boots. They are so stylish! However the shaft is really wide and floppy--much wider than the same boot in brown I had tried on. I was amazed at how poorly these boots were packaged. I have ordered a lot of boots at many different price points and these had less packaging than any others I have seen and it was quite disappointing to see a $300 pair of boots basically all wadded up when I got them. Going back.

I purchased 2 pairs to replace mine that are more than 10 years old. These boots are the best made...period. They only get better with age and scars.

I have loved these boots for years and finally purchased them . I absolutely love them . I wear a seven and ordered a six and a half and seven as a lot of the reviews reported they ran big . Both fit but the seven was not tight in the toe and yes both pair the heel moves but this is normal for this type of boot . The tan was perfect thought it was going to be too light it is gorgeous. Timeless boot which will last a lifetime for me . Not heavy at all and very comfortable. Love Them !!!!

Major heel slippage especially on my left foot and the pair I received had black lines on the sides that did not look like normal imperfections. Almost looked like black magic marker lines. For the price, I returned them May re-order a half size smaller.

Awesome boot, but not comfortable in size 10 that I normally wear.

A boot to forsake all other boots. You won’t be sorry.
