Love these boots. I have another pair I bought years ago and they still look great. They are comfortable and cute.

Love these boots. I've had them for about a year now. They look great and were comfortable right out of the box. I went on a long hike in the mud and rain last week, crossing creeks and slogging through mud and they performed very well - just rinsed them off when I got home and they were as good as new.

I saw these boots in NYC a week before Halloween. Husband and I wandered into a shoe store in the West Village, because he wanted to look for a pair of biker boots for himself. I saw the woman's model, and I immediately fell in love. The store had them in burnt red and plum, as well as the traditional black and brown shades. I decided that I wanted the red. Because Zappos doesn't carry the red, I purchased them from another vendor. I had to do a couple of in-person fittings of this boot and other models before finally determining which model/size worked best for me. Fortunately, I live near NYC and I was able to go to the SoHo Frye flagship store. I tried on the Harness 12R, Harness 15R, Carmen Harness Tall and Short. I ended up going for the Harness 12R after all, in the burnt red, which was the color I originally wanted. I usually wear a size 8.5, except in certain kinds of heels/pumps, in which I wear a size 8. When I tried the Harness 12R in the 8.5, the toe area felt good, but the heel area was way too loose. The 8 was a good snug fit in the heel, but with some minor pressure on the outside of the big and little toes. Since they are leather, and have a reputation for breaking in nicely, I went with the 8. The boots fit nicely, and they have now developed that "soft as butter" feel on my feet. I still feel the boot touching the outside of my toes, but it doesn't cause discomfort. It's more like a glove hugging my toes. They fit well with thin and medium thickness socks. I don't have enough room in them for a heavy winter sock, but I only wear that kind of sock with snow boots, not with regular fall/winter shoes. If I had bought the 8.5, I would need to be correcting the fit with orthotics or insoles. This is a classic and attractive boot. It looks great with straight-leg and bootcut jeans over them, as well as with skinny jeans/leggings inside them, or a miniskirt and tights. I haven't tried them with a more flowing skirt or dress yet, but even with the "non-neutral" red color, I can make them work with just about anything. I really wish Zappos had carried the full color array in this boot. I love the company and love giving them the business, but the color was non-negotiable for me. After wanting a pair of red boots for a decade, I wasn't going to compromise.

My new Frye's came today! I was very worried about the fit because I have done alot of research and everyone has been telling me to go down a half size. I did not do this. I wear a 9 and that is what I ordered! They fit perfect! I am guessing the ladies that go down a half size successfully may have a more narrow foot than mine. I have an average width foot. They are a little hard to put on at first so use the pull tabs! This is my fourth pair of Frye's and they become easier to put on and take off. They also break in very beautifully! Great workmanship!

I love these boots, I feel I will have them for a very long time. They are a little big, so order a 1/2 size down for sure, because the leather will stretch. Pricey but definitely worth the money!

I've had my boots for about a month now and absolutely LOVE them! I read the reviews and worried about what size to order. I went the half size smaller and it was the the right choice. I wear an 8.5 and went with the 8. They are perfectly snug and are starting to shape to my feet. Even though there isn't much padding, none near the toes, they are still really comfortable. I also worried because I have fat calves but they fit in the boot perfectly! Zappos also did an awesome job packing them and they arrived within a week.

I have been in the market for good everyday fashionable boots. I wanted a pair that will last me a very long time. After tons of research, picture searching and review reading I settled on the Frye harness 12R. I normally wear a size 7½-8 so I ordered a size 7½. These I wanted the smoke old town but all the store had was tan. I am very happy with the tan instead, they are the perfect shade especially after you treat them for waterproofing. I have been wearing these everyday for about a week now and love them so much. If I could wear these to bed I would. They are comfortable, still stiff being new but not too stiff that it hurts my feet. They are a bit pricey but once you wear them you will know why. I already love them so much that I plan on buying another pair next year in a different color. These boots feel as though they were a perfect fit for my foot. We order all of our shoes through Zappos because it is a great company. We have never had any problems and its crazy how fast Zappos gets the shoes delivered to you. I absolutely love these boots as well as Zappos!

These arrived today in Dark Brown Crazy Horse size 6½. Let me begin by saying they are gorgeous! The picture does not do the color justice at all. Unfortunately, they will be going back because while 6½ is my size in the Frye Engineer, it looks as though I will take a 6 in the Harness. I am normally a 7 in all other brands, so be aware if you are trying to choose a size. Zappos, as always, is the most awesome retailer in the world and I am expecting the smaller size to arrive any day now. Thank you!

I really like these shoes. I wore them and they were very comfortable. I had a pair of similar boots that I wore for 10+yrs. It was time to replace them. I'm very happy I did:)

I'm so happy with both my boots and Zappo's costumer service. The boots are comfortable and very well made And the free shipping (both ways) was great and very easy to use. The boots wear a little bigger than the usual, I got a 7 instead of the 8 which i usually wear for all the other shoes. I'm very satisfied

I have had these boots for over 12 years and love them. I get so many compliments it is amazing. From men and women. They may pinch a bit at first but you must work them in. That is the price you pay for good boots. The older they get the better they look. I ordered a pair for my boss and my hubby said he likes mine better (that is because they are all worked in!). Don't be afraid to work and play in these! Rough 'em up! They look better! You will not be disappointed. Wear socks. You may have slippage at first in the heel; however, that goes away. You learn how to walk in them...the Southern folk will tell you. The slippage is part of the whole cowboy boot thing...they all have it at first. So deal with it. I did. Now it's gone. I don't know how, when, or why. Just love these boots. I am a 7.5 or 8 with a regular foot (not wide) and I am wearing an 8. They are quite narrow I must say. So I have to return these for my Boss because I just found out she has a wide foot! I ordered her a 1/2 size larger and there is no way she will get her foot in. So I am ordering a 12R wide in Mens for my other Boss that just went crazy over my Frye boots today!

I am in love! These are absolutely amazing. I dropped a few hints and received these boots for the winter! I read so many reviews of others owning this particular style for over 10 years so I went with my gut and a classic! I searched high and low for quality leather boots that were going to last me a long while (now I have high hopes of passing these boots on to my children!) I am most surprised at how quickly my boots are breaking in, but how awesome the leather continues to look as I do. The comfort is outrageous too! Make sure you get half a size smaller or your normal size if you only ever plan on wearing thick boot socks with your boots. These are great mid calf boots. They are so worth the price. Save up, beg, whatever you have to do - you need these boots (or at the very least a pair of Fryes)! I cannot wait to wear these out hiking as I live in Colorado and then am moving to Washington.

I recently purchased these boots and was a little worried about them fitting after reading the reviews, but I have a fairly small (7 1/2) narrow foot and these boots have turned into one of my go to pairs. They actually fit my foot.

Bought a pair of Frye high-heeled boots...4" with a platform. They are beautiful with great hardware on them, but I tire of wearing that heel! Then along comes my love...the Frye harness boots. Well, needless to say, I've kicked the high-heeled boots too the side. I'm in love and not going back. Love 'em so much I got them in tan 8R and black 12R. I like the fact that they are 1/2 size too big. The same Frye quality and craftsmanship. That company has unsurpassed quality...and on top of it they are made in the USA!

I love these boots! I always wear a size 9 but, after reading all the reviews, I ordered an 8.5 and they fit perfectly. I have bunions on both feet and there has been no pain from them at all in the smaller size. I bought them in Charcoal Old Town. They were so gorgeous the first time I put them on (with no socks and also a good suggestion) that I admired myself in the mirror about 20 times that night. I called Frye directly to see if I needed to treat them with the Weatherproof Dressing and they told me yes, absolutely. I did so and it changed the beautiful charcoal gray to all black. So head's up. I was pretty disappointed but the boots are still awesome in black and now presumably they will hold up better in the Pacific NW rain. Don't hesitate, ladies: Order these for yourself. You deserve them!

My almost 16 year old niece got these boots for Christmas last year in tan, and I have been in love with them ever since (I'm 34). I ordered them for myself last February but it was late in the season, and I couldn't decide on a style/fit. I really wanted the Harness 12r but because they were so tight/hard to get on, I also tried the Harness 8r and the Cavalry, thinking that they might fit my wide foot & muscular calves better. None of them did so I sent them all back & decided I would try them again this Fall when I actually had a whole season to wear them & break them in. Anyway, that brings us to today. I ordered the Harness 12r again last week. I'm normally a size 7.5 or 8 so I actually ordered both sizes at first. My foot is wide so I normally go up to an 8 to compensate for the width in narrow shoes (and I thought maybe the extra room would make it easier to get my foot in). The 8's were too big, however, and did NOT make a difference in the ease (or lack thereof) of getting these boots on. The 7.5 is definitely the right fit, once the boots are on, but getting them on was a real task at first (it literally felt like I could not or would not ever get my foot in). I wore the boots around my house for about 4 days trying to see if they would stretch at all. I also read literally hundreds of reviews & even Googled articles about whether or not Frye boots would stretch. I was just terrified of keeping these boots (after spending so much money) & realizing that they would never stretch or really fit me properly. If I was going to shell out over $200, I wanted to absolutely LOVE these things. Just this morning, I read a review that said to use the "loops" to put the boots on rather than just pulling them on or trying to squeeze my foot in. It may sound dumb that I didn't try that before, but I used the loops today, and they went right on! Much easier! Also, today (after about 4 days of wearing them inside), they felt great! I even ventured outside of the house in them for the first time. I can already tell a difference in the fit in the toe bed and the calf area (the calf area was one of my biggest concerns bc I have large calf muscles due to being a soccer player for many years... these boots were snug on my calves at first). So, bottom line, they defintely DO stretch. If you love them like I did, but are afraid of the tightness at first, wear them inside until you get used to them & break them in. Also, USE THE LOOPS to pull them on! These look & feel great... you just have to give them time. I promise!

Buy the Boots! I love them. I put them on this morning, wore them everywhere today Christmas shopping and still have them on 12 hours later. After reading other reviews I contemplated wearing them shopping before breaking them in but am so glad I did. I wear a 6 1/2 but ordered a 6 and they were a perfect fit thanks to the reviews. I had a hard time deciding on the color it took me days and I finally went with the more traditional tan that looks great with denim or black leggins or just about anything.Zappos had them on my doorstep in 2 days. I always shop them first for their wonderful service.

Just what I wanted. Had to look everywhere for a site that had them in my size. Zappos came thru. I agree about needing a 1/2 size larger. Good advice.

These boots had been on my wish list for several years. Finally, I had the opportunity to treat myself. After reading the other reviews, I purchased a pair in my regular size 10. They are perfect in every way! I wear them from morning until I go to bed. They are always comfortable and they look great. Just putting them on lifts my spirits!

Great boots! I looked at a few different styles and liked the look of these. I thought they would be too narrow for my feet but decided to give this style a try since it was the look I preferred. They fit great. I usually wear 9.5 and got a size 10. A bit snug at first but still comfortable. Have stretched a little over the past 4 months but still fit although I wear thick socks with them. Wore them walking all over Manhattan on a visit and they do fine here in SF too. I sprayed them with a waterproofer and they have been very dry in our misty to heavier rain too.

A friend turned me on to these boots a few years ago. I bought the black in an 8 and normally wear 8.5. Fits great. I just ordered the tan. I love these boots and can wear them with anything. The only thing I don't like is polishing and my husband has been sweet enough to do that for me. Other than scuffs, the boots have held up great through all seasons of wear. Highly recommended!

I love these boots I feel I can throw them on with anything and it gives me edge but sexy at the same time! At first when you get them they look bulky but once you put them on your in love for life. They are made so well they I'm sure will last for a decade. Worth every penny.

I just received my first pair of Frye boots earlier this week. I have read what seems like hundreds of reviews and ended up ordering half a size smaller than my normal shoe size, in the Tan color. I love them. I wore them all day yesterday (11 hours) and ran a few errands on my lunch break. No blisters, pinching or being uncomfortable. I had just ordered a pair of Born boots at my local department store. As I was leaving, I saw a woman wearing the Frye boots. I asked her where she got them and if they were Frye. She said she has had them for years and they are like wearing slippers to her now and have always been very comfortable. I went back to the shoe department and cancelled my other order. I love these boots with leggings, skinny jeans or just with a regular pair of bootcut like I am wearing now. I know the quality of the brand and I have no regrets about the price. I am sure this will not be my last pair of Frye boots and will most likely purchase from Zappos. Fast and free shipping, who can complain about that?
