I have ordered three different size for this shoe and am finally settling on a half size larger than my normal Frye size. I wear a 7&1/2 but am keeping the 8. The toe box is extremely narrow and on my right foot, my toe next to my pinky toe is bigger than on my left. So my left foot is about a size 7 while my right is a size 7&1/2. The 7 in the harness boot were way too small on both feet. The 7&1/2 probably fit my left foot perfectly. The 8 fit my right foot perfectly so I am keeping the 8. These boots will not stretch out and you should always order your shoes to fit bigger than smaller. Unfortunately through exchanging three different pairs of shoes I have noticed that the quality control for Frye isn't very good. The first pair I got were perfect but too small for me. The leather was jet black and stiff. The second pair was still too small but was very chalky like the white paper liner they were shipped in had rubbed off on the leather. The third pair which fit me are chalky again and the leather is thin and dented on one shoe. I will try to exchange them for a better looking boot. But thanks to Zappos amazing customer service I have had each shoe within one day of exchange and this makes it super easy to try to find the best looking boot.

Love! These boots are great! I ordered the Charcoal Old Town color and they are the perfect gray. Many grays I have ordered are more brown, taupe...anything but a true gray. I'm typically an 8 1/2 but went down a half size in this style. It was hard to decide on size as these boots can be tricky to get on if you have a high instep. I could get the 8 1/2 on quite easily but once my foot was in they felt too big. I tried the 8 on and off several times, it was challenging but I knew each time my foot finally got in, the length was the best. They are comfortable for walking and standing. I've worn them with and without socks. My new fav boots!

Love these boots! One downfall is that they are narrow. I had to take them to a place to widen them.

Love, love, love these boots. Should have listened to the reviews that said to buy a half-size down. I ordered my usual size 9 and while I wouldn't say they were way too big they felt clunky and had lots of room in the heel. Was afraid with any stretching they would be huge. So I got size 8.5 and they are perfect. The toe box felt a tiny bit snug the first day I wore them after a few hours (not too short, just snug), but now after wearing a few more times they are perfect. I like to wear thin (Smartwool ultra-light running) socks under my boots - if you wear heavy socks you may want to order your normal size. This is my first pair of Fryes but pretty sure it won't be my last!

I've had these boots for years. I got the brown boots first and loved them so much I had to get the black. I wear them every chance I get and they are more comfortable than my other styles of Frye boots. I would highly recommend them. I usually wear 7 1/2 or 8 in most shoes and boots but the 7 1/2 fits great. Love these boots!

Like many many other reviewers I've had my eye on these boots for a long time. Originally tried the Melissa back zip which I had to send back since they 1) weren't lined and 2) had obviously been tried on before. Bummer! No big deal with Zappos of course. Anyhow back to the Harness 12R. I bought them in the Smoke Old Town which is a nice neutral dark brown with lots of variation in the color, with brown/black/grey tones that you could wear with black or brown. Woo frickn hoo! I'm usually a 6.5/7 and decided to take the advice of other reviewers and start with the 6.5. Had to struggle a bit to get them on and was starting to get bummed that I would have to return, but once they were on I didn't want to take them off - wore for about 3 hours around the house. Tried with thin socks and no socks - perfect since they will stretch with wear and I'll be able to wear with with thicker socks once they're more worn in. Excellent craftsmanship (unlike the Melissas). Long story short - love them and I'm so glad I finally took the plunge. I would recommend to try your true size first, at least in this color.

Love these boots. I am normally a size and ordered 7.5 after reading the other reviews. Plan to get them in black too. I love Zappos!

I have been looking at these for years and finally took the plunge on this timeless style. I absolutely love them - they fit great and the leather smells divine. Would suggest them.

For starters, Zappos has outdone themselves. I ordered these boots early afternoon one day and received them in less than 24 hours! Regarding the boots, I can't even begin to describe how beautiful they are! I ordered the Charcoal Old Town and I love the dark gray/black leather; these babies will go with everything. I've been eyeing these boots for a while now and finally decided to get them, and I'm so glad I did! I'm normally a 7.5 and ordered the 7, since I have narrow feet and they fit great. I can't wait for them to break-in a little more; they'll fit perfectly, then!

Love this boot! Super comfortable! This heel gives a little height and keeps my arches and heels from hurting (flat boots do me in). The leather is soft, not hard and tough, and the craftsmanship is great. I don't know how these would do as an actual moto boot. The Left toe would wear down from shifting perhaps, but is a great boot to work in/walk in/stand in. I'm a six but got a seven because I have really wide feet. I just double up on socks and I'm fine.

My favorite boots ever! I've been eye balling these for about a year after seeing someone with them so when I finally had the funds I bought them. I got them in my usual size and they fit perfect I also own the Carmen harness tall in the same size and I wish I would have gotten a half size bigger in those. When income tax season rolls around again I'm definitely getting another pair maybe black. Oh, and the tan color I got was gorgeous!

I love these boots! They go with everything and are very comfortable. I also love that Zappos sent me an email when they had more in stock and I ordered them right away.

I LOVE these boots. I've been trying to find a pair of engineer boots that aren't too clunky or masculine and these fit the bill. I normally wear an 11 but I bought a 10 and they fit great. I have thin calves and these work well without gaping too much.

Very nice boots. They are a little loose at the heel. I got 1/2 size smaller than I normally wear because they run a little larger. Heavy leather and a good and sturdy boot. Worth the money. Recommend this boot.

These boots are the best! The Frye harness has such a distinctive look. Worth every penny; I will wear these forever. I have a wide foot and when I first put them on I was concerned they would not work as I could feel the sides on my instep. I decided to keep them and wear them and they feel great now; took only a day for the boot to mold to my foot. I got the charcoal color which looks amazing!

Awesome boots! I actually had to send the 1st pair back because the left boot was too tight. Then the 2nd pair the color was a little funky! Finally, the 3rd pair was perfect! The returns went very smooth. Zappos was very happy to help me return them! Sometimes it takes 3! Very happy with my boots.

I bought the 12R in Smoke Old Town. They are gorgeous. I wonder if the leather will soften as the front is a bit hard. I know they will be a wardrobe staple. I am 5'3" and 107lbs. These are not too clunky or too wide. Just right for my stature.

I love these boots! They run true to size, look, and fit great. This is the second time I have ordered boots from Zappos and the level of service is superior to all other online distributors.

I have several colors in this style. I also have several brands of cowboy boots and Hunter style rain boots with a 16 in shaft. I live in boots. If anyone finds boots difficult to take off, just in case, purchase a boot jack. You don't even have to sit down to take off your boots with one of these. They are simple, relatively cheap, store anywhere and helps to whip boots off easily. Especially the styles with no zippers or gores. You can buy or order them from Western gear stores and catalogs. I'm always surprised at how many people don't have these.

Super comfortable - look great with jeans or skirts. Love Frye brand, love these boots! I got them in Charcoal Old Town, and they are a cross between black and grey...more dark grey but "ombre" almost. Love them! Love Zappos!

Love these boots. They fit my large calves and wide feet. I wear a 6.5 in the Harness and size 7 in the cowboy boots. I have the Tan and may have to order another color, Whisky. Apparently, I am obsessed with Frye, such great quality. Get these boots, you will not be disappointed.

This is my 3rd pair of Frye Harness 12R. In the last 3 months. I just got my black pair. They are so pretty. I am so please with Frye and Zappos. My first order was not an very good experience, but I didn't give up on Frye or Zappos. I had to order 4 pair before I kept the 4th pair. I didn't down size my 4th pair. I am an 8 1/2 shoe size and ordered an 8 1/2 the "Smoke Old Town" they ran big. So I gave them to my daughter, she is a 9 1/2 shoe size, they fit perfect, she loves them. So I ordered a next pair the"Chocolate Vintage Leather" in a size 8, fit almost perfect. The arch is cut a bit tight, so you have to work your foot into it, but once in the fit is good. So again I am very please with my boots. I suggest to order a 1/2 smaller and the fit will be good. Thank you again to Zappos employees - you are the best.
