Fit as expected. They are a bit stiff at first but they quickly get softer. Quality craftsmanship. Definitely glad I made this purchase.

I finally found a 5 in your engineer boots and am extremely happy with Fit. They are comfortable and wore all day the first time I had them on. Love them!

These were my first pair of Frye boots. EIGHT years later, they are still my favorite Frye boots. After almost a decade of wear, and by wear I mean ALL THE TIME wear, I cannot say enough about the quality/comfort/look of them. The price is nothing when you factor in the quality and longevity of these boots. Do yourself a favor, and buy these:)

I got these for Christmas and couldn't wait to wear them! They are so comfortable, it didn't even feel like I had to break them in. They are easy to throw on with any outfit, and they look amazing no matter what they are paired with.

I've been wearing my frye's almost everyday since I bought them a few weeks ago. They started molding to my feet instantly and are very comfortable to wear. I love the look and am very very happy with this purchase.

Several months ago, I bought this boot in Gaucho and liked it so much I bought another in Black, both while on sale (a rare event). I bought my usual size, 7.5M, and found I needed to loosen the buckles over the instep but otherwise they fit fine, even while wearing thick socks--they would be too long and probably too wide in the heel if I sized up. The Gaucho color is a variable medium-dark brown, meant to look a bit scruffy, while the Black is solid and smooth. Both look great with jeans or cords. Being on the older side myself, I wish the insole had more cushioning, but thick or cushioned socks help enough. In short, I love these boots, and hope they last for many years.

These are my second pair and I absolutely love them. The most comfortable boots I have ever owned. They hardly need any breaking in which is rare. I have a narrow heel but these do not feel sloppy. I have gotten tons of compliments whenever I wear them. Even people I don't know will approach me to tell me "I Love your boots". I not only wear them wIth jeans but also with skirts and dresses. Makes you feel just alittle sassy! Runs alittle small because of the round toe. I bought 1/2 size smaller and they fit well. Love the oiled leather look!!!

My husband bought me the R12 Engineer in dark brown for Christmas. I've wanted them for about 5 years but just couldn't justify the price. He ordered my shoes size of an 8 but I couldn't even get my foot into them after opening them Christmas day. I was concerned with the size and almost got a 9 but instead only size up to and 8 1/2. The new pair came quickly and I was very impressed with how well the 8 1/2 fit, SO glad I didn't order the 9! I recommend 1/2 size bigger than your normal size. I absolutely love them! Haven't taken them off! I've worn them with a dress, with my skinny jeans tucked in, with leggings, and also with my boot cut over. After having our normal New England winter lots of slush and salt I decided to order the weather proofing cream which came rather quickly also. I treated my boots and I'm crossing my fingers they last for a long time!

I wore Frye boots back in the 70's, loved them then and still do, the fit and comfort is great and I love the style, am already looking at another style to purchase.

I have been looking for a durable stylish pair of short boots for a while and am so glad I found these. The color goes with so many outfits. I am typically an 8.5 in regular shoes and a 9 in boots, so I ordered the 9 in these and they fit perfectly. I would highly recommend these.

This is my 3rd pair of engineers. They do take a little to break in so be patient. I have wore mine in the rain & snow have not had any issues. I find them to be true to size. I have 12 pairs of Frye boots & I can say I do prefer the American made line they offer. Give these a try you won't regret.

These boots are so comfortable, I am normally a size 7.5 but ordered a size 8 and so glad I did. I have flat feet, so no arch and these boots slipped right on, no painful break in period. They also shipped them very quickly!

Lots of Love for this boot! Looks large and clunky in the picture but they are not at all. Loving the height and style of these!

I looked at every review I could find before I bought the Engineer 12R boot. Usually with shoes I am an 8 or 8 1/2 and I almost always size up to a 9 for boots. For the Melissa Button Back Zip (wide calf) I ordered a 9 and they fit perfect, because of the narrow toe box. For the Engineer I took the plunge and ordered an 8 1/2 and I am glad I did. The toe is not as narrow as other boots and they fit perfect! I have a rather high arch, so I did need to undo the buckles on the boots before I could slide my foot in. After wearing these around my house for a day or so, taking them off and putting them back on I no longer need to undo the buckles. These boots are a very thick and substantial leather, but they are not hard to break in. Frye leather is of such a quality that a break in may be a bit uncomfortable, but it will not be painful. Because I am a very active person I have a rather wide calf. At first I was worried that this would be a problem, but with a 33 inch inseam the top of the boot doesn't get close to the muscular "problem" parts of my legs. The bottoms of these boots also feel very thick. The rubber looks like it will keep me from slipping around on ice and snow in Minnesota winters. These are not my first pair of Frye boots and they will not be my last. The boots and leather are just wonderful, the customer service is amazing, and no matter what pair of boots you pick they will look good with almost everything you own. These Engineer 12R boots may be my new favorite. They look great with everything, even leggings.

I was worried because I cannot get my tall Paige boots on easily but as soon as I took these out of the box they slid right on. Comfy and not heavy.

Bought these a few months ago and I pretty much wear them everyday. They are extremely durable and go well with most outfits. Once you break them in, they are quite comfortable, even for walking long distances
