My size 12 toes hit the front of these size 12 shoes big time. I tried lacing them up tight to force my heel to the back of the shoe with moderate success. All of my other size 12 4E shoes have lots of room in length and width. I feel maybe I should soak them in oil or something due to their constant squeaking. I would maybe try a larger size but don't want to put up with the squeak, squeak, squeak while walking. The shoes seem over-insulated, as they keep my feet quite hot. Maybe this would be a good shoe if you order oversize and spend a lot of time walking in the snow.

I would love these shoes, but they would not be any noisier if I taped rubber ducks to my feet. I thought it would get better the longer I had these shoes, but if anything, after a year it's only gotten worse. It's too bad, because otherwise, they fit as close to perfect as any shoes I've owned. Support is great, and I can be on my feet all days in these and my feet and knees don't hurt. They breathe great, look nice, and are easy to get on and off. But that noise is awful. I have bought Monarchs for the past seven or eight years - with 4E width feet, my selection is pretty limited - and this generation is the first I've had this problem with. I wouldn't buy them again.

Horrible shoes. I have been wearing Monarchs for quite awhile, and my last pair before these had a terrible squeaking in one of the shoes. I bought some Asics which wore out way too fast, so thought I would try another pair of Monarchs. Wrong! This pair has horrible squeaks in both shoes. Never again...

I use the shoe for football officiating and it does a great job of keeping me comfortable and letting me move. Also, they really helped in dealing with my back pain that I experience from running on uneven football fields. However the insoles seem to be a little too small for the shoe (I got a EE wide shoe) and it feels a little weird on my feet but I'm over it. From a style perspective I look like an old man, but hey, I can walk the next day so my back and I are cool with them.

I owned a pair of black monarchs and was very disappointed with them. I did not purchase them through Zappos. I purchased them for work (restaurant) and after a month the tread started to delaminate from the shoe and developed an annoying squeak with every step. Stay away from these shoes, everyone else I have known to own these shoes have developed the same problems. Nike needs to bring these back to the drawing board.

I use these in an institution with concrete floors where I am on my feet for 12 hours. I've had them for a month and they work very well. These are the most comfortable shoe I have found for my workplace.

I originally bought these for my son since it comes in solid black which conforms to his school dress code. These are good, well built shoes. My husband liked them and I bought him a pair too. The problem came when they went to an amusement park and they got wet on a water ride. Since that day both pairs squeak something awful. The two of them walking down a street is like something from a Laurel and Hardy film. I can't take the squeaking anymore and will be looking for other solid black sneakers, but I think I have to avoid Nike all together.

To stop the squeaking...the WD-40 trick really does work! Pull out the glued in insole out...spray the inside generously with WD-40 and blot out with paper towel...put insoles back in and the squeaking will be gone. Never had to do it again but once. I know we should not have to do this to new shoes and Nike won't fix this known problem with these shoes but...they are so comfortable, it is worth the trouble.

These are the most comfortable shoes I have ever put on my feet. I am on my feet a lot during the day, and my feet feel great!

Great price for a comfortable shoe. I like it when I'm not wearing a advertisement. I don't need to be cool because someone knows I'm wearing Nike. No flash just a nice shoe! Shipped fast.

This Nike Air has now replaced New Balance for me. I had worn the New Balance 620 and 622 and they were good shoes. I agree with other reviewers that the NB 623 had a thin sole and was not comfortable. I purchased both the white and black Nike Air Monarch IV and after several weeks of use am very satisfied.

This shoes is extra comfy on your feet. They are a bit heavy though. They look like your typical food service/work shoe.

This shoe is extremely comfortable, runs true to size and is a good. I would recommend this product tgo anyone considering it.

I own a black pair of Air Monarchs, and they are great. It feels comfortable and it usually will fit well. It had a squeaky noise, but it was fine, I didn't care.

Very comfortable shoes but they seemed to wear out quick. They lost their cushion more quickly than other shoes I have purchased.

Florida is filled with seniors who appreciate this shoe! The availability of a variety of widths is ideal, many people have orthotics or foot surgeries that need a wider foot and toe box. I have these shoes in every color, but the squeak is consistent in old and new pairs. THANK YOU to the person who said to eliminate the squeaks by putting talcum in all over the inside and move quickly about to spread the talcum powder around. No squeaks! It really works! I have these shoes in every color, great for walking the beach, walking on hard surfaces, and great ankle support if you tie them the new way!

I have had some bad luck finding a sneaker that fits and feels amazing. Well, my journey stopped here at the Nike Air Monarch IV. I promise you will love this sneaker.

The 4E Nike Monarchs are the only shoes my husband can buy without having to try them on first. They always fit consistently. I only wish they came in more colors.

The last 6 pairs of Air Monarch's I've purchased since 2009 have gotten progressively worse as far as squeaking and groaning while walking. I won't pay good money for a supposedly "Quality" shoe that is obviously manufactured with a known flaw.

This may be kind of an "old school" shoe - but it is very comfortable. This is my second or third pair.

Do not buy this sneaker! I cannot stress this enough. I bought a pair of these about a month ago from Zappos here, and for a while, these were great. Now, they have developed the infamous "Squeak" problem that others have warned about. Before I bought these, I thought this was just a problem with 1 or 2 people for some reason. But now, after doing a search on the web, it seems this is a well known problem with these Nike shoes, and other Nike Air products. I will be contacting Zappos to see if I can still return these, but my guess is that now that I have worn them for about a month I can no longer return them for a refund. So you have been warned. Do not buy these shoes, unless you like to sound like a clown walking down the hall. Search the web yourself, for "Nike Air Monarch Squeak" and you will get almost 10,000 references. The only solution I've found that people suggest is to rip out the insole, put in some powder or oil and then put the sole back in. If Zappos cannot take mine back, that is what I will have to revert to. Nike should not sell these products until this problem is fixed.

It's my husband's fourth pair of Nike Air Monarchs. They are extremely comfortable to wear all day and work well with jeans. Great for slightly narrow feet as well.

Great shoes, that squeak might get annoying but I'd buy them again.
