This brand and style of shoe are pretty much all my husband has worn for the last three years. I was very happy to this style, and in his size, available at Zappos. As for him he says they are the most comfortable shoes for every day wear while remaining affordable.

I've experienced two issues with my pair of Nike Air Monarch IV: the shoes are very noisy (squeak with every step) and a gap opens near my instep while walking. Sizing may explain the latter issue, but I have not noticed such a significant gap with other brands. The shoes are comfortable, but the noise and gapping are irritating.

I purchased the previous version of this shoe (the Air Monarch III) about a year ago here on Zappos for casual wear and to wear at work. What appealed to me were the price, the all black color, and especially the extra wide 4E option necessary for my Hobbitesque feet. And for the first few months, I basked in my discovery as I couldn't get over how I'd finally found a shoe which fit my feet so perfectly and comfortably. But of course there had to be a catch, and this one arrived in the form a very loud squeak. It's much less noticeable on carpet, but most of my workplace isn't carpet, and I've already endured jokes from a few of my more perceptive co-workers. But then I noticed Nike released this new version, and I thought it might be to fix the squeak, so I gave it a try. But as it turns out, it apparently wasn't, because again the same squeak has appeared with the new Monarch IV's, again after a few months of wear. Being this is essentially my second pair, I'm curious why I'm not seeing this complaint more often in the reviews. Can my luck really be that bad? Or is it just because most of the reviews have been posted in the time prior to when the problem occurs? At any rate, the upside is the IV's are equally as comfortable as the III's were - albeit equally as noisy, and they're probably fine for outdoor use where other miscellaneous sounds will dominate the one generated by the shoe. Whatever you do, just don't wear them to the the library, philharmonic, or a burglary.

Size 14 4E. Fit well and are comfortable. Shoes have developed a squeak. I usually wear New Balance of the same size. I will buy again.

Nike Air Monarch does not use waterproof adhesive in constructing their shoes. If your feet sweat or you get them wet the glue comes apart and they squeak like crazy. I contacted Nike and their attitude was "too bad, so sorry." Expensive to buy, shoddily constructed.

The only Nike I wear. Always have more than one pair around, one for work, one for play. The air cushion in the soles will squeak especially after being wet. Just pull out the insole, add some foot powder, put insole back in, no more noise. Works every time. I have really wide feet and can destroy any pair of athletic shoes in a few months. I have not had a single pair blow out the side. After owning more than 10 pairs of Monarchs, for me they are one of the best fitting and most comfortable shoes I have ever worn.

This shoe has proven itself to me for the last six years. This is about the eighth pair I have bought and will keep buying without trying. My shoes always look the same. Comfort over style. If you need a wide shoe, this is the one.

Great looking shoe and comfortable. HOWEVER...it started squeaking after about three months. The squeak in both shoes is SO ANNOYING that I am tossing them. Pretty disappointing. Without the deal breaking squeak, I'd have given these shoes at least four stars.

I've worn Nike Air Monarchs for many years. Just ordered a white pair and they squeaked within 1 week. Zappos graciously replaced them with a black pair and the 2nd pair squeaked after a week of very moderate wear. I love these shoes, but will not be ordering them again. Nike apparently can't build quality shoes any more.

I ordered these for my guy who does Zumba and his current workout shoes were just worn out. I researched a lot of shoes. I guessed at the size 12.5...1/2 size larger than his current 12's and especially liked the picture of the 'ball' spot in item images...for pivoting on the bottom. He took them out of the box and wore them the 1st night and loved them! They turned great and because they are Nike Air-full length the cushioning was awesome. I had to order him a second pair (different color) so he could rotate them.

Always excellent, reliably well-made, long-lasting, super-comfortable and great support. Like lacing-up a cloud onto your feet. And they SO don't look nerdy!

These shoes are comfortable and look nice.two things though after working all day my pinky toe feels cramped .I ordered a half size bigger might try a wider width next time.Second they do creak,think it has something to do with the round cutout on the sole.but overall there pretty good.

Nice shoe for day to day use. I wear them mostly inside for work in a healthcare setting.

Ditto with the noise. I read this review and thought "how bad could it be" then ordered a pair. Worst than I could've imagined. A clear design defect. Gimme the old Executive plain black which could be worn with jeans or a suit. None of this girly-man color and design-- just black and simple.

I love these Nike Air Monarch IV's. I have wide feet and they are one of the few Nike sneakers you can get in a 4E wide plus they are extremely comfortable. I've owned the Monarch line for years now and it is a consistently comfy sneaker. I own them in all black and the white versions. Only other option for me would be customized Nike Air Max which are well over $200 per pair. I can buy a few of these for that much money.

I like them a lot however I had to return them as they developed a very annoying SQUEAK on any hard surface. I surmise the inner rubber design became loose and was rubbing the main sole. As I was able to mimic the squeaking with the shoe in hand for both of them. I was thinking of getting a replacement pair until I just realized it happened to both. So I will just try some other Nike.

I wore this same brand - style - size of shoe for several years. The quality is in the toilet. The last 3 pairs all broke apart at the toe. The stitching came apart on all 3 pairs. 1st I thought a fluke, 2nd I thought well ok maybe another fluke, 3rd?! This shoe is junk now! I will NEVER waste my hard earned money on theses NIKE shoes EVER again. I guess it is time to move on to another brand. No more NIKE for my household! EVER!

I've worn this Nike shoe for several years. Glad they made a few cosmetic changes, I like these better. From time to time, they do make a squeaking noise, but I found a way to quiet them is to remove the liner, pour talcum powder into the shoe, shake it around to cover all areas and then reinsert the liner. Squeak gone! Zappos has proven to be a superior internet store with their customer care as well.

I need 4E and a high arch and New Balance was the only brand I could find but NIKE has nailed it with this shoe.

I've had these for four months now so they're broken in. They aren't really comfortable and for having an inch of material between my foot and the ground there isn't a lot of cushioning. On the positive side they are wide without looking like water skis. The worst part about them is the noise. You can hear me coming from half a block away. It sounds like I'm walking on plastic shopping bags. Definitely no good for ninjas.

This style replaced a discontinued style (name escapes me now) that fit my feet great. I'm happy with the fit. However, as others have pointed out, they squeaked, after a few days. The previous style didn't. I'm thinking the problem is with different material(s) in the sole and inside of the uppers. The squeaking started after 4 days of wear. The noise went away after some baby powder. So if you can put up with baby powder in your socks for a few days, they work.

Pretty nice shoes and fairly comfortable. They have an odd internal squeak. It's not the sole on the floor, it's the insole and constant.

I've bought these shoes a number of times and in recent pairs, one shoe developed a "squeak" when walking. It usually takes many months but with this most recent pair, it happened within a month. It's so annoying I'm inclined to dump the shoes.
