I have been wearing the Beta AR now for about 3 months, and am thoroughly enjoying it. I was in the market for a hardshell for a while, and tested out a wide range of jackets.
What I really like about the Beta AR is the lenght. I don't like it when a jacket is too long, and this one just fits well. The jacket is tough, and well constructed. The zippers work well and are robust, the hood can be very nicely adjusted so that you can keep looking left and right and your visuals are not blocked.
On the downside, the goretex pro is a bit noisy. My kids keep saying, hey there's dad, you can hear him come from a mile away. I guess that's part of the fabric. The sleeves are also very long, something that i've seen with more jackets. With the sleeves being very long, it gives a bit of a bulky look for an overall perfect slim fitting jacket.

The Beta AR Jacket is an essential must have jacket. For all weather conditions. It will not bleed through in Rain, has breathable side zippers to control temperature and lots of adjustable pulls to fit all types of layering. Packs up nicely into the hood. I highly recommend this jacket as an essential out shell with great versatility.

Iv had a beta AR for almost 6 years now and it still holding up strong. Iv done everything in this jacket, snow shoes, 15 day backpacking trip, everyday commuter, and climbed baker and golden ears with this jacket. This is the best all round jacket you can get. Mine is showing some slight wear in the inner fabric, but after >6 years of hard use, id expect it.

Great looking, great fitting, highly breathable all around wet weather performer. Suitable for the mountains, forests, and going downtown on a wet and windy day. My favorite shell.
I have owned Arc'teryx shells for 15+ years, and this is my favorite.

This is a substantial jacket. The fabric feels thick in the hands and doubly so in some of the reinforced areas (the shoulders where a pack could cause abrasions). The DWR has held up for 2 winters now, I wear it often about 6 months out of the year. It is an excellent piece on top of a light sweater or thermal layer, but a bit too loose on my torso when paired with a t-shirt for example.

This is my first waterproof shell and I really love it. I wanted something I could wear for all my outdoor activities - lots of walking with my dog, but also cycling and trying some alpine sports later this year. I heard amazing things about Arcteryx jackets and figured I'd go with the investment piece. You can tell it's super high quality and there are lots of nice little features. Highly recommend, I would for sure repurchase.

The Beta AR Jacket is the jack of all trades. It combines functionality, weather protection, and comfort altogether! When you decide to make the purchase for this product, you will not be disappointed by how perfectly it will fit your needs. Take it out for a light shower during your city commute, or take it outdoors to the wilderness where the elements are much tougher, and it will still stand the test. In my opinion, this is the best rain jacket you can buy. Heck ya, my friends!

Shell is pricey, but well worth the price. Waterproof, lightweight and breathable all in a stylish package.

I purchased this jacket 2 years ago as I wanted a durable hard-shell for outdoor activities in the schizophrenic New England coastal weather. After researching and trying on different options from Arc'tyrex, I settled on the Beta AR. The Gore-Tex Pro is the best gore-tex offered. A little stiff at first but allow some time to break it in and you'll appreciate it more! Athletic fit with enough room to allow for layering in colder temps. I've worn this jacket skiing in snowy western Maine in the middle of February, getting on and off chairlifts and holds up well. Works nicely for spring skiing with pit zips. Throw it on for riding single track in pine forests or transition from ski season to early spring rainy weather and still performs. Tough jacket and sheds rain/snow well. Excellent all rounder.

Una chaqueta muy verstil tanto en el uso urbano los dias de lluvia y viento como en las condiciones ms duras en la montaa. Su sencillez , elegancia y ligereza la hacen perfecta para ambas situaciones. Simplemente 10.

I bought this shell years ago on a stormy day in Colorado and haven't regretted it a minute since. Gore-tex does exactly what you expect from the fabric and the fit is just right for an athletic shell. Drop-hem is just right, and the hood sinches up or fits over a helmet just right. The stand alone collar is great for keeping driving wind off the face and neck without the hood. It's a bit trim on features but the trade-off is that the jacket packs very small. I roll the whole thing into the hood and have it in the bottom of my pack any time I might see precip. At 5'10", 180lbs a medium fits perfectly.

Honestly my favorite jacket. I've had mine going on 5 years, and it's still going strong. It's great for layering and is very versatile.

Great pro shell jacket lighter than my mountain equipment one and more breathable. Not a massive fan of the collar design but the hood is fantastic.

I've loved this jacket for skiing, climbing, hiking, and walking the dog in a snowstorm. I regularly wash and waterproof it and it is going strong three years into use.

Bought this jacket specifically to wear for Kilimanjaro climb. On the summit night, it was sleeting with temperatures definitely in below freezing point. Maybe because it was so cold the jacket's waterproofing didnt hold as advertised. The synthetic jacket I was wearing underneath the Beta got wet. Luckily I had on a fleece layer under to keep me warm.

Awesome jacket for all year round use.
It fits a bit bigger than the other Beta SL or LT, allowing more room for layers, and my chest.
Face fabric is skookum, love everything about this jacket.

The 3rd outing with my jacket resulted in it getting 'wetted out' I.e. the gortex got so wet by the rain it affected its performance and ability to breathe which in turn made me pretty uncomfortable and susceptible to cold from the moisture inside. The recommendation is that a DWR coating should be reapplied but I find it hard believe that this should be necessary so soon. I would not recommend this jacket especially if you are working hard in the mountains and really need both a very breathable and waterproof shell.
