I love these boots! They are tough while still feeling feminine and I have received tons of compliments on them. They are great in the rain and very comfortable. I ordered them a size up and found that they are a little big. I would buy them true to your regular size.

Zappos is the best! I accidentally bought the unisex black smooth 1460 boot first. When they arrived, I was absolutely heartbroken seeing them and trying them on. They were huge. The toebox was too big, the width was to wide, and the boot overall just looked like a rough, men's boot. I looked like a clown. Devastated, I immediately called Zappos. The woman I got on the phone was an absolute angel! At first, I was going to just return them and order them off the Doc Martens website. However, she walked me through the site until I found these babies. (I originally thought the W stood for "wide" and not "women's") and they are beautiful. She even upgraded me to nest day shipping for free which is great because I was going to wear them to a concert the next day! I'm literally in between US size 9.5 and 10. So I went with the UK 8 and it seems great! I have some room to move around but I just wear some medium thickness socks with them and they're perfect. The nappa leather is much easier to break in so your feet don't have to get so beaten up the first few days. I highly recommend these boots and this awesome site with they're amazing customer service. Zappos rocks!

Awesome boot. Flashy without it being in-yo-face. I think they run slightly large, but if you wear 1/2 sizes, probably best to order up. (I wear an 8.5, ordered a US 9 womens, and have wiggle room, but not enough to order down.)

The Black Nappa 1460W is the perfect Doc! The 1460 is too wide and these will be perfect once broken in. This is my second pair of Nappa docs, and they break in much faster than the smooth leather and are more comfy straight out of the box. The seam attaching the tongue pushes on the upper foot until broken in, but it will get looser and they will mold to your foot like all good leather. I'm usually a size 10.5-11 in boots, but the UK 8 is perfect. I also own the 1460 Nappa and the UK 8 in that style is longer and wider than these. I feel these are much more "shaped" for a woman's foot than the 1460. Definitely size down if you're between sizes, and they will stretch and mold to fit your foot with a little wear. I think someone with a wide foot should opt for the original 1460 because these are average width. My feet were swimming in the 1460, and they gave me more of a clown feet vibe. These are very attractive, slimmer cut for a female or narrow male foot, and the leather is sumptuous. If you're a female with an average width foot and can't decide which docs to buy, go with these! They look great with shorts, jeans, leggings and dresses, these boots are pure biker/rocker chick and bad to the bone. :)

I was hesitant to buy another pair of Docs, having had several pairs in college, all of which hurt like crazy during the month-long break-in period. But, after I wore through the sole of my Skechers boots this summer, I needed something, so I decided to take a chance on these. I haven't regretted it. There's been basically no break-in period with these boots. I wore them for a couple of hours each day the first two days I had them, and my feet were comfortable each time (I also threw some heel cushions in, but I do this with most of my boots). So I decided to try them for a full work day, and they were great -- I found them very comfortable to walk in. I've had them now for nearly a month, and wearing them nearly every day I've had no problem with blisters or other pain. I will say that there's only minimal cushioning in the foot-bed, so I'm looking around for a good pair of insoles for these to make them a bit more comfortable on long days. But overall I'm really happy with these boots.

I just got these in the mail and love them! They do need to be broken in and get that great worn look, but other than that I am happy. One of the things I was worried about when I ordered them was that they would look big and bulky. But they really don't. It's actually rather narrow. Maybe from the side it is a big bigger but looking down at them, they are super slim. The Floral etched in adds a cool girlie factor, which I really like. I am hoping to order the full on floral printed ones for Christmas. And I will probably try a size 9. I had to order a 10 in these, because that was all that was left--and I wear 10 in boots usually. They are only a tiny bit big, but will fit great with socks.

These shoes are amazing. I just don't want to take them off! They fit great, i got a us size 10 and have a little room in them, but nonetheless they are comfy. This is a great shoes and Zappos has great service!

Normally my docs are 1 size smaller (woman's 9 and I usually wear a 10), these I ordered for woman's 10 and they fit great. At least with Zappos it isn't a pain to change if you guess wrong. Comfortable, sturdy. Have to mess with all the laces to get them on and off. I wanted leather boots for riding a motorcycle that weren't steel toes and I wasn't ready for ugly racing style boots so these are perfect because I can be comfortable walking around in them too.

I love this boot. Unfortunately it looks to ridiculous on me! So I have had them sitting on a stand for over a week contemplating on their future and have decided they must go back. Boo. Now to continue on with my great search for the perfect boot for me!

Oh. My. God. These boots are just so beautiful. I've just (just as in, literally five minutes ago) received them and they are just so full of oomph. :) I love them already. They feel perfectly comfortable and, though at first sight they seem a little fragile, the feeling's gone the moment you slip 'em on. They are perfect, and perfectly true to the web description. If you are looking for classic Dr. Martens, this is clearly the way to go. :)

These boots are fantastic. I ordered them on Thursday and received them today. (Tuesday) which, in my book, is very fast shipping.
First, out of the box, they looked lovely. I put them on, and they were very stiff - which was to be expected, they're brand new boots! But, after wearing them for around two hours they're more comfortable.
I've still got a lot of wearing in to do, but they're already feeling better. I love Zappos, and there were no problems with the order.
I normally wear a US size 8 1/2 - 9 and I ordered a 9. They seem to be half a size too big, but I read that that's usually what happens. They look fantastic and they should be worn in fairly quickly. I love them. Thank you, Zappos!

I received these shoes today and sadly they felt a size to big. They also made my feet look huge. I wear a size 8, so I ordered a size 6. I remember back in the day, I wore a 5 but went with the recommended size in case things changed since the late 80's early 90's. I love the shoes. They are comfortable, light and very nice overall. I am returning them due to the size and I am so sad to find that I can't find a size 5 in any of the black boots. I was so tempted to keep them anyway because of the comfort, but I know I need to go smaller. So I have opted for the Black Nappa Mary Jane's. I truly hope those fit better because these are such nice shoes! Although I am bummed, I simply love Zappos for their easy and convenient return policy. I received these next day. I've never ordered from anywhere but Zappos and received the item the very next afternoon! You guys are awesome!

I've never owned a pair of Doc's before this pair. Ordered the red flowery ones, size1460W, for me and the black 1460s for my daughter. We both wear a US size 9. We were able to compare the difference in the sizing between the two pairs: the 1460Ws fit us both very well, and the 1460s are a bit longer and wider. Great service from Zappo's, and I think the red flowery boots are so cute! On Day 2 of wearing them, they're starting to feel really cozy on my feet and warm, too!

These fit right to size. The leather is very thin, so they would not be a warm winter boot. They are not lined, just leather, so my socks stick which is a bit weird. But, they feel great, very very comfortable, I love them.

This was the perfect solution for my Doc Marten problem. I was between sizes in the regular 1460. When I discovered the 1460 W was slightly smaller, more of a women's size, I found that these boots were great. I'm between a 7½ and 8 normally, and in this case, what they consider a women's size 8 American did the trick.

I ordered these shoes on a Friday, and had to wait all weekend for them to come until Monday. Fell in love with these boots. They are utterly amazing! They will be perfect for the rain and the downfall of snow in the winter. Ordered the black nappa, and the leather is very soft. Took only a few days to break in, not too bad at all. These boots are a must have! And love Zappos as well.

I've been wearing Dr. Martens since I was 18. I am now 45 and my daughter is wearing them...thank goodness we have the same size foot! They are are the best boots ever! Work, play, whatever!

These boots are ROCKIN'!!! Love the easy transaction and fast shipping! Customer service was great and very willing to assist in every way! I have worn my boots once and received 5 compliments all day! The down side, I actually thought they would be gold gold; they're more like a mirror yellow like the mustard color! I’ve had a pair of these for years and they’ve always been reliable. They got me through college, some long periods of backpacking and now professional life (I spend a lot of time outside on my feet). What I love about them is that they are a great all-around pair of shoes; they’re comfortable, durable, waterproof, and have good traction, and look much better with jeans or pants than sneakers would. Every time I tell myself that it’s time to get rid of them (because I’ve worn the soles almost through), I realize that I can’t find a single pair of shoes that does all of the above. They’re staying in my closet until I buy a new pair. While it’s true that they’re not much in the realm of arch support, I threw a pair of insole inserts into them and they’ve been comfortable for hours on end. Don’t forget to budget some time for breaking them in before you go out for the day, too - the stiff leather just needs some wear to get comfortable. I’m a US 9.5 and wear a UK 7 in these, which gives me room for warm socks.

I absolutely love these pair of Dr. Martens. I was a bit concerned, at first, about the "bulk-iness" or size of the boots, but when I tried them on upon receiving them, they looked exactly how I wanted, not too bulky, but still has a bulky bold look. I usually wear a US size 6 or 5 1/2, and I got the UK size 4 and they fit perfectly. The Nappa color is a great soft matte black color and matches with just about every outfit.

I always wanted a pair of Doc Marten 1460s since I was in middle school. Unfortunately, my mother did not share in this dream, and my boots never materialized. \r\n\r\nThen I ran into a striking woman during NY\'s Fashion Week this past September, and she had on a pair of patent leather 1460s in black and from that moment on, I knew I absolutely had to have them. Fortunately, my very sweet boyfriend was kind enough to purchase these for me. \r\n\r\nAs for the look, they are absolutely amazing! I throw them on with denim shorts, layered t-shirts and I\'m out the door. My legs look amazing in them and I don\'t know, there\'s just something about wearing 1460s that gives you a ton of confidence. I also love the fact that they are patent leather and not plain leather. It makes them a bit more unusual and unique. I\'ve already gotten quite a few looks because of them. \r\n\r\nNow, as for the fit: I\'m an 8.5/9 depending on the company and a solid 40 in European brands and a UK 7. I went with a size 9 in these and am very pleased. My feet don\'t look big and there\'s a solid amount of toe room with socks on. My ONLY issue was with the stitching that joins the tongue to the shoe itself, on the inside of the boot that hits to top of my right foot -- well that hurt for at least the first few wears. But not that they are finally broken in, I wear them with zero problems. Apart from that, they are unbelievably comfortable and relatively lightweight. I am beyond thrilled with my purchase and highly recommend them to anyone considering them. Worth every penny!

The perfect fit, no break in period, comfortable as can be! The leather was very very supple, which worries me a little since I remember my older Dr. Martens feeling a little more sturdy and actually needing a break in period, but, hey, if I can wear it everyday and feel like I'm walking on air, what's there to complain about, right?
