This is my third pair of Escalante shoes and ninth pair of Altras. I really like the wide toe box. I run in the Escalantes. The first two Escalantes were version 3. They were comfortable and allowed me to increase running distance with no foot problems. The Escalante 4 feels more stiff and less cushioned. I have tried adding an additional foot insert but they still are uncomfortable. My feet get tired just wearing them even without running. I also prefer a padded tongue and longer laces. Please bring back the previous version. Probably won't buy these again.

I am absolutely over Altra. I have been loyal for years and have spent at least $2,000. I'm sick of being disappointed. The quality is terrible. I returned these immediately. Also, black is not black!

The last post I discussed the poor construction of the shoe sole. The other pair I just purchased is also falling apart. This is ridiculous, over $300 down the drain.

My first Altra purchase was the Escslante 3 and I loved them. The 4 does not fit as well or feel as comfortable. The tongue was padded on the 3 which was much better. I sent the model 4 back and will look elsewhere for shoes unless Altra stops cheapening their products.

Alta needs to go back to the original escalante no arch support wide toe box zero drop decent cushion. These have arch support that hurts not enough cushion and terrible last decent escalante was the 2.5

I became an Altra convert 8 years ago, but am disheartened. I bought these last year but had an injury where I couldn't run until now. The toe box is much narrower than the "3" and causes toe pain.

First pair of 4's and the redesign is not good. The unpadded tongue is not comfortable and shifts on the foot. I had been getting ~4 months, these only lasted 2.5 and gave me blisters!

No where near as good as the Escalante 3. I hated the tongue, because there is no padding. Feels terrible.

Please please bring back the old model. I cant wear the 4s and my old ones are tiring out. I have been wearing and loving the the Escalante for years. It used to feel great right out of the box. The new version is terrible. The top of the shoe presses down and crunches my foot. The new laces and un-padded tongue irritate my foot.

I have run in the Escalante for years.They were incredibly comfortable! I just got the 4, same size and width. I can barely walk in them, much less run. The placement of the laces by the toe has changed and now cuts into my foot so much i will not be able to wear them at all!!! I wore the Torrin for years till you messed that one up. Now this?? Makes it feel too narrow where the same shoe, earlier version, fit perfectly. I am fast running out of Altra options for a neutral shoe!

Thought they were ok for a minute. Soon realized the top of the shoe was too low and was crushing my bunion. Returned.

All of the colors are so ugly

The tongue is becoming unattached from the front of the shoe with less than 70 miles on them.

I was a devoted escalante 2.5 owner. I had at least a dozen pairs. I now have a 3.0 I can't wear and I returned my 2 pair of 4.0 three weeks ago. You changed/cheapened the fabric on the upper and the sole does not feel the same. Not the same quality at all. Try to get it right on your next version and please refund my return it's been 3 weeks and no credit to my credit card!!!

Unfortunately they were just way too small!! I wanted to love them. I tried running but my toes were just so crowded. Definitely size up at least one size.
