Customer Reviews Altra Olympus 6 Hike Low GTX

I have 4 pairs of the Olympus 4 which I absolutely love. I skipped the 5 because of poor reviews and purchased a 6. The fit around the heel is terrible and they are squeaky! Altra ruined a great shoe.

I have to agree with the other person the on the back of the heel. But the left shoes squeaks every step, and the black just didn't seem black. Altra can do better, loved olympus 4 and 5, just not 6. Glad I wasn't the only one with squeaky shoes. I bought them as soon as they were available and the squeak is still there after almost a full year.

I like the leather. I recommend them for cold areas, feet get very hot in warm areas. The moment I started wearing them, they felt so uncomfortable. I started walking around my house in them all day and ended up with sore feet. They bothered me around the arch. I bought two sizes and both were very uncomfortable.

4th pair of Altras; wear daily. 2026 very poor design: tongue is too short. bought longer laces; no configuration solves problem.Can't wear them so I'm out $150+. No one I dislike enough to give them to.

Overall I like the shoes, but when they SQUEAK every step it makes me want to throw them off a cliff! Please figure that out!

LOVED the Olympus 5, but the new Olympus 6 has an extra piece that sticks out with a seam vertically right in the center that is painful! PLEASE go back to the Olympus 5 ankle style!!!!

I LOVE ALTRA.. That said, I had the 5 version and it was great. This version looks great. BUT there is a HUGE HUGE Problem with them. The heel cup has these little protruding pads made of Kryptonite that will eat you up. I wear thick wool socks and went on a walk around my block, less than 2 miles to break the shoes in. This is pavement with just a slight grade. Withing those 2 miles I had the worse pain on the back of my heel I thought there was a stick in the back of my sock, but it was both heels. I took my sock down and noticed a nasty hot spot has started. So I folded my sock down to double the material to protect my heels. Two days later those nasty blisters popped. Now the back of my heels are tinder and require tapping even with known good shoes just to do any running or hiking. I never thought a company with a back ground in outdoors would not have testers try things before full runup of sales. The reviews on here are selected and not true to the internet as they are in near agreement that these heel pads are a BIG NO NO. I was so mad at myself for not catching it sooner that I threw these in a closet and forgot about them. I can not honestly sell them or give them away without a warning tag to tape your heels. I still love ya Altra you been to the bottom and back for me and I want so bad for you to fix this and get back to making good stuff. I dont even care about durability, I want COMFORT even if I have to buy ever 6 months. Which I do any how.
