I wear these every day as a work shoe, and got the Gore-Tex for waterproof. I hate wet feet. Everything is great about these shoes...and highly recommend.

Just came back from completing the Tour Du Mont Blanc! A 100 mile hiking trek through the mountains of France, Italy and Switzerland. Super comfortable, no blisters and the water proof helped a ton through many water crossings. Definitely would recommend!

I love the support and feel of this shoe, but it runs small, and even when I ordered a half size up, it is too narrow. I need a shoe with leather uppers for work and was hoping the sole on this would last longer than my Torin 5's do. I get about 10 weeks out of the Torins walking 15,000 to 20,000 steps a day, 5 days a week on concrete floors. The sole on the Olympus 6 felt like it would last longer, but they just don't fit.

Hiking, distance walking. This is my 3rd pair. The first 2 had issues (nasty squeak, sole in the toe area separating / unglued. Altra stood behind their product and offered me a new pair.....amazing to have a company stand up! This built real loyalty. This current pair appears to have incorporated feedback and evaluation from prior generations. Solid shoe, great performance. I'm really pleased and happy to see the brand growing and evolving.

I use the shoes for everyday work I walk 10 miles per day and they are good for all day. My only complaint is that I have to replace them after 4 months. This is my second pair since May of 2025.

I bought these shoes, hoping to get a shoe that performed well on long day hikes and allowed space in the toe box for my toes to spread out. I got part of that. The shoe is well constructed with good lateral support. Adequate cushioning. Excellent traction. Generally comfortable, although they took a bit to get used to. Unfortunately, the toe box is not wide enough to accommodate my feet as they expand. I expected a toe box similar to my other barefoot shoes, and didn't get it. That said, they do the job well enough to keep.

I have a large inch step and wide feet. It was a little tight comfortable when standing and walking, but after a few hours where my foot gets a little achy on the sides and top. Wish I had a half size bigger.

Most comfy shoes I've ever had. I really like the redesign from the Olympus 5 with improved durability. However, they squeak super bad on any surface or even just bending in my hands.

I am hoping these become more comfortable as I wear them more and break them in. Also hoping they loosen up and stretch a bit. So far have worn them on just hour-long walks and they feel just OK. Hoping they will be OK for longer treks.

I have a difficult time with my feet and have a bunion. It's nearly impossible to fine wide waterproof shoes and these are! That being said the black looks like l should be working at a tire store or doing oil changes. They are for dog walking so I don't care but man are they ugly. I wish they were a little cushier like the well known brand that starts with an H, I do have a little metatarsal pain when wearing them. I have another pair of Altra that isn't waterproof and I am obsessed with those.

I like these shoes. Cushy just like the Olympus Trail Runners but waterproof. Only issue is the right shoe squeaks. It does it on all surfaces. Guess I'm not sneaking up on anyone .

I have these and the mid height version. I think the mids are the most comfortable shoes on earth so I bought these for daily wear but these are so tight on my feet that I keep getting cramps. I wish these came in wide width. I don't get why they don't fit like the mids, its the same shoe. Also, the laces constantly come untied. I had such high hopes for these.

I hike dogs for a living and wear the regular Olympus model every day. I love the wider fit and the cushion. I was hoping the Olympus GTX model would be able to carry me through the shoulder seasons, but sadly the fit just isn't the same. The Gore-Tex version is narrower than the regular model. Why?! There's just no way this model is truly the original foot shape. Maybe in time they'd break in and widen up, but I'm not suffering through that when I know it's possible to get a comfortable shoe right out of the box.

I don't understand the trend of trail runners with GTX! GTX boots? Sure, makes sense. But ankle-height trail shoes with GTX break my brain a bit. Love the shoe's look, but GTX stops me from buying.

This is an excellent shoe with a wide toe box and thorough sole support. My only concern is that these shoes squeek...ALOT! Is there anyway this can be corrected?

This is a stiff boot with the top lopped off. After 50+ miles it's still stiffer than a pair of waterproof boots I have. It never became comfortable. Even the piece of fabric connecting the tongue to the side of the upper is stiff and needed break-in before it stopped digging into the top of my right foot. For context, I also wear Altra's Lone Peaks and Experience Flow. Both of those work great for me. Now for the positives. Because the upper is built like a tank, water doesn't get through. I would only recommend this if you don't want to wear a boot but still need a very tough upper.

Completely different shoe compared to the Olympus 6 non GTX version. Too late to return (by two days) unfortunately. The sides of the shoe against your feet are hard. The soles are more rigid.

Sadly Altra has changed the overall fit of the Olympus 6 from the Olympus 5, especially at the ankle and how the shoe stays secure on the heel. My heel continuously slides up and down along the back, the foam holding the heel that used to be substantial on the "5" is now flimsier and thinner, so obviously this is what is causing the problem. Even my old worn out Olympus 5s still hold the heel in better. Had to return, unwearable.

I loved these shoes so much when I originally got them, that I bought a 2nd pair for the future. Unfortunately after less than a month and a half and 150 miles of weekend hiking, I am on my second pair already. The heal padding has given way and is tearing apart.

I got this because I somewhat like the Olympus despite there being way too much foam underneath and that foam packs out pretty quickly on these shoes. I needed a waterproof shoe for winter hike & fly paragliding as the grass on the hillside will soak you quickly in the winter. These could have been the ticket. I might have given them a chance had they not been leather and if the stitching where the tongue gusset is and what looks like the membrane didn't feel like sandpaper along with the initial feel in the toe box feeling more crunched. The tread is a little more shallow than I like as it does not really cut through the looks stuff on top of hard pack and not quite enough for muddy conditions or hiking up grassy hills you can get some slipping. The foam packs out pretty quickly which sucks because having that foam do its job is important when landing it takes off some of the impact from bad landings which is like half the time. I now an nursing a bruised heal as my Olympus 6 are completely non supportive and actually the heel has dropped lower than the rest after 4 months of use. I started noticing it after 3 months of use. I'll keep buying the Olympus since there is no other comparable shoe I am aware of zero drop, wide toe box and at least initial max cushion but Altra could stand to do much better with this shoe.

The great thing about this shoe is the oversized toe box. The bad thing is almost everything else. I bought the previous version, the Olympus 5, and within 50 hikes they pretty much fell apart (this comes to just over $4/hike give the $200+ cost of the shoes). I've attached a picture of what the sole looks like now. Guess what? Olympus does not warranty the sole at all (most of the rest of the shoe is warrantied for a year). Even the stitching was starting to come apart. It's really too bad, because the shoe fits my foot pretty well, and for that reason I sucked it up and bought the Olympus 6. I wore them for the first time today. My initial impression is that they are OK but not great. As others have noted in their reviews, the fit of the heel is not good, so my heel moves up and down in the shoe rather than being immobilized. This is OK, but not optimal, for hiking, but I certainly wouldn't run in these shoes. The other problem, which you can also see in an attached picture, is that every time my foot strikes the ground, the upper part of the shoe puckers outward (the part near the top eyelet). This is great for collecting gravel and little sticks inside the shoe, but of course who would want that? Anyway, I've been buying Altras for years. There's been a steady decline in design and construction quality (coupled with a steady incline in price), but because I need a big toe box I keep buying them. It is, however, definitely getting to be time to look for a new shoe company.

I have 4 pairs of the Olympus 4 which I absolutely love. I skipped the 5 because of poor reviews and purchased a 6. The fit around the heel is terrible and they are squeaky! Altra ruined a great shoe.

I have to agree with the other person the on the back of the heel. But the left shoes squeaks every step, and the black just didn't seem black. Altra can do better, loved olympus 4 and 5, just not 6. Glad I wasn't the only one with squeaky shoes. I bought them as soon as they were available and the squeak is still there after almost a full year.

I like the leather. I recommend them for cold areas, feet get very hot in warm areas. The moment I started wearing them, they felt so uncomfortable. I started walking around my house in them all day and ended up with sore feet. They bothered me around the arch. I bought two sizes and both were very uncomfortable.
