Love these! Just enough cushion for a zero drop heel to toe shoe to work well on my morning road run with my dogs. This comes with a wide but not too funky looking toe box. Very stylish and fun colors too. This isn't easy to find in a minamilist shoe. Will buy more from Altra and have my eyes on their trail shoes next.

The Altra Escalante 4 has quickly become my all-time favorite shoe. I wear it daily for casual outings, and it seamlessly transitions into my CrossFit workouts, offering incredible versatility. The comfort and support it provides without sacrificing style make it ideal for both running errands and tackling tough workouts. It's a shoe that truly excels in every aspect, and I can't recommend it enough.

I have been doing runs ranging from 3-7 miles in these and love them. I also wear them all day at work which is mostly on my feet. They are outstanding.

I purchased these shoes for walking as part of my regular exercise because I noticed other running shoes did not provide sufficient support and cushion. These shoes are fabulous and the most comfortable I have ever owned.

I really like the Original foot shape, it fits my wide forefoot really well! The black color is actually more of a navy blue but it looks good with the light blue laces. This is my favorite altra, I am hoping the future escalantes follow this same pattern.

I've been a long time Altra wearer from the elder days and also quite disappointed in the direction they've been moving in recent years. I started running in the Escalante line with the 2.0 version, and felt the Escalante 2.5 was the greatest running shoe I've ever used. The 2.5s were also excellent everyday shoes. The Escalante 3 was a horrible deviation from the spirit of the Escalante, and sadly I had donated my aging 2.5s not expecting the 3 to be so different. I suffered through years of using the 3 because there was nothing better, but I'm happy that Altra listened to their customers and rebooted the Escalante with the 4 instead of trying to fix the flawed design of the 3 with a 3.5. Please continue listening to your customers Altra! The Escalante 4 feels very close to the Escalante 2.5, with a little less plushness in the foam material and less give in the upper. I'm thrilled that the Escalantes are back and I can run joyfully in them again. I would love if they just re-released the Escalante 2.5, as I feel those were the perfect iteration of the Escalante (and it seems most Escalante users agree), but the 4 is a great step back in the right direction! Great job Altra!

I have never in my life experienced a running shoe that didn't fight me every step. Even wide shoes often feel ill fitting and pressure in weird places while too loose in others. I supinate/underpronate and the big clunky soles on most shoe brands always wears out in a way that kills my back. The escalante is an excellent shoe for me. The wide toe box allowed me to get a much smaller size than I would normally, so the shoe is comfortably snug around the rest of the foot. When I took them running first time today, they really shined when I had to run on a pretty narrow wooden ledge (the kind around sidewalk trees) to avoid walkers. In other shoes this would be a pretty straining task for me and hard to trust under my feet, but these made it feel effortless and stable. I'm also eager to see how the relatively flat sole holds up to the wear and tear pattern I normally get. No aches, no pains, happy me

Comfy fit, good midsole. Only complaint is I have to spend more time adjusting the tongue when putting on the shoes. Enjoying the black on black colorway.

I love these shoes. These are my first 0 drop. I purchased them to help build lost foot strength. I stand alot and move around alot at work. Shoes are comfortable, and I can feel muscles that have not been used in a long time being activated. These are wonderful. Looks are good, wider than I am used to but its great. Feeling is well protected but flexible. 2 weeks in and loving them. I don't think I can run in these but, i do use them for long walks with my border collie,

I've had at least six pairs of these from the original to Escalante 2.5 and it's still my all time favorite shoe. This one nails it, great evolution. Added stability and hopefully durability too. They are just like the 2 but you can take corners without falling off the platform. Super comfortable even runs over 7 miles, it's the perfect amount of cushion in a low profile shoe that keeps me striding as naturally possible. I'm coming from using Torin 6 for a while and prefer these.

I love the shape of these shoes the way it give you extra room in the from for your toes makes all the difference. I usually have a hard time finding running shoes that fit right. I don't have wide feet but I don't have narrow feet but when I run I just find some shoes to be so uncomfortable. These were a great change of page for me. I didn't find any discomfort at all, the fit is great and the quality is amazing.

I commented and they heard! Closest Escalante to the 1.5 yet. I've done the "bend" test and a short jog and I'm very excited to put some miles on these. Photo attached are of the model 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 and this new 4.0. The lacing now actually goes down as far as the 1.5 which is really helping the top of my foot breathe.

Best shoes I ever worn, feels like I'm walking on clouds. They are so comfortable I can even sleep in them. I can wear theses all day no complaints. My feet feel snugged but in a good way. I love them definitely recommend.

Love this shoe, was curious how it would compare, since I have an older model. But it works. Still feels like putting on socks. Roomy toe box, which I really enjoy. Solid sole, no heel issues at all. Feels great. I mainly use these on the treadmill for workouts and they handle it nicely and hold up well.

This is my second pair of Altras and I still feel as if they are the best running shoes I have purchased. the comfort is like no other and running are a breeze with these shoes. will continue to buy.

I wore these shoes everyday for a few weeks and my feet feel great. I have wide feet and these shoes have proper space for my width needs. They're also nicely supportive and light as a feather. I would buy these again and again.

I have enjoyed running in my escalate 4s. The toe box is nice and big which good for because my bunion sticks out a lot. I like the padding- it seems to give the right amount of support but still be soft. Would definitely recommend.

My right foot has been tighter, and smaller than left, after wearing these shoes for few days and running, my right foot is starting to stretch out, I'm really amazed. These shoes are healing me. Wow.

I was skeptical at first looking at the way the shoes fit but as soon as you adjust the shoe laces and make the top of the shoe expand my foot felt like it was being hugged. Love how light and bright and airy the shoes are along with the fit.

I absolutely loved this pair of running shoes. It definitely fits true to size and is absolutely comfortable to wear. Also, what I really like was the grip when I was running in these shoes. It is also very easy to maintain and something that I can easily see myself using for my running episodes white frequently. Also, something that I really like about these shoes is that they have a very stylish look and is quite easy to clean up after you have run in dirt or on a trail. The maintenance of these shoes is fairly straightforward.

Just got a pair of these and so far I love them. My last pair I had for almost 2 years (retired them to just everyday wear). They fit nice and snug but not tight. The website photos also don't do the looks justice.

First off, they fit like a glove. Seriously, slipping them on felt like heaven for my feet. And they're so light! It's like running on clouds. But the best part? The performance. These shoes have some fancy tech that keeps me stable and cushioned, no matter how hard I'm pushing myself. And they're tough too! I've put them through the wringer, and they still look brand new. They definitely are my new favorite running shoes.
