Great warmth to weight ratio fits well and looks good. Unfortunately, after just a few months of wear around town the nylon shell ripped. I'm not exactly sure how it ripped but it was not through any misuse or improper care. I've been an Arc'teryx fan for many years but this is just one of several products I have bought in the last year that are nowhere near as durable as my older products. The products I have that are older than 5 years are in better shape than the those I have bought in the last year.

I bought Proton LT in 2023. I can review after 2 years of use. I am 179cm and 72Kg. I chose a size M which is perfect. The jacket has a trim cut but runs true to size. It is nicely tailored with no excess fabrics. Very well wind resistant with acceptable breathability, even if I tend to run a bit hot in it when I hike with high intensity at temperatures above 0 C. In this case I need to open the zip. Perfect harms length for mi sizes and comfortable hood. I had no occasion to test it under rain, but the jacket proved to be well resistant in snowing conditions. Proton LT is my favourite insulated piece of garment by Arc for the very well designed trim cut and general performance of the jacket in my use cases (mainly hiking and mountaineering in winter). The material feels soft and comfortable also next to skin if you use it in cool temperatures with a t-shirt during autumn or early spring periods.

It's a rare day when a proton doesn't make its way into my backpack. Breathable enough to skin in on a cold day, warm enough to use as a belay jacket, and burly enough to climb in if you need to! And even with all that abuse it still lasts for years.

I've been using my proton hoody for the last few weeks. I live on southern Vancouver Island and this jacket offers the perfect amount of insulation beneath a shell for coastal fall and winter months. The sizing is bang on. Nice to see that it is pretty long in the torso for very good coverage. It seams very thin, almost too thin upon first handling of the jacket, but my concerns vanished after wearing it as it offers tremendous amount of warmth for its thickness. It is very breathable, which was my incentive for buying it. It has a thin exterior material which, I was nervous about for durability, but it is actually very well built and my fear of tearing the outer material has diminished after using it daily for the last few weeks. I wouldn't want to wade through thick devils club with it for any length of time, but it is more than durable to wear on its own in most conditions.

All around solid, durable and warm layer that can be used in so many different ways. Similar to the Atom, but a little more bomb proof and the insulation is even throughout. Everyone can use and enjoy one of these layers!

I'm an avid climber and this garment is my go to piece for my outdoor exploits. Warmth without bulk, range of movement without constriction whether I'm in the high alpine or at the fall, winter, or spring crag, this piece provides me with the protection/ warmth that helps me complete the send. It is truly perfect!

Used the Proton Hoody (size S) for ski mountaineering in temperatures from -3C to +3C. Worn as the sole midlayer over a merino baselayer, it delivered exceptional thermal regulation and breathabilityI remained dry and comfortable, with no chill during descents or belays. The material feels very pleasant and lightweight to wear. Size S runs slightly roomy. Under a hardshell on descent, temperature control stayed ideal. Note: post-tour sweat marks, odor, and staining occurred.

The Proton is beautifully made and snug fitting. I am 6', 175 lbs and a medium fits perfectly. The jacket is warm and very light. I love the outer breast pocket to carry my phone or car keys while on a hike.

This is my first experience with the Proton. I have quite a lot of Atoms and wanted to try something a bit different, yet similar. I like the exterior pockets, vs the inside pockets. The fit seems to be quote a bit nicer than the Atom as well, especially the newer ones. I'm 170lbs and 6' tall. I buy Large sizes, because I have long arms where a Medium always comes up short. Plus, I have a habit of layering all the time anyway.
Wearing a t-shirt, hoody (like a Naga or Kyanite), with the Proton on top, I was pretty comfortable in 20-ish degree (F) weather. I could have likely been warmer in colder temps, but not as long.
I would likely buy another one, if there in another color I like. I have a lot of earth tones, so the Carob was right up my alley. Solid color!

Amazing jacket! Please make "tall" sizes available... I am 6'2" and when I climb in the jacket it works it way out of my harness every time. If the was a "tall" size that was like 3" longer it would be soooo amazing! PLEASE ARC' make all your climbing focused tops in "tall" sizes (even shirts)

The proton hoody is a super versatile layer. I enjoy using it as an active outer layer in cold or windy conditions in the Fall and Winter. I use the proton in conjunction with the Arcteryx Nuclei insulated jacket. This makes a very versatile insulation system suitable for the majority of Winter conditions. 2 light weight insulating jackets instead of one bulkier insulated jacket that isn't as versatile.

Reviews said this has a roomier fit than previous models. That seemed to be true because the arms on my older Atom jackets were too snug, but the XL fit was perfect otherwise. This jacket fits me like it was tailored for me, and the color is awesome (I have the Cronin pants in carob too, which is nice).
I'm 5'10" muscular 220lbs. My shoulders/chest are wide, arms are thicker than normal. Happy to find something that fits and doesn't look baggy.

This is the most comfortable synthetic puffy I have ever worn. The material feels nice on the skin unlike the Nano Puff or other synthetic puffys. It has nice stretchy cuffs and a good zipper. It has been my favorite synthetic puffy for the last 8 years and thankfully Arc'teryx hasn't really changed it since.

I used this Jacket recenetly for 3 day backpacking trip in the eastern sierras. Some things i really enjoyed was the face fabric as it held up very well while climbing trees and other various activity. Beyond this i found the jacket to be well suited for activity with a lot of breathability and not as much overheat relative to a down jacket. Another thing I loved about the jacket is the versatility it provided in using it as a pillow when tucked into its hood. In addition the hood was wonderful on those chillier nights as it provided warmth, and moreover the pockets were fantastic to use alongside a backpack as there are many pockets on the jacket. Overall would reccomend this jacket as it blends technical use and versatility into one.

Great looking comfortable and warm jacket. Goes as a stand alone or underneath my shell jacket. Hood works well. Nothing bad to say about this product

The Proton Hoody is easily one of my favorite Arc'teryx pieces - and for good reason. It's impressively lightweight, yet still warm, breathable, and incredibly comfortable. At 5'9" and 170 lbs, the size M fits me perfectly: not too snug, not too loose, and the sleeve length is spot on.
It's been a fantastic mid-layer for skiing, and recently I've been using it under a light rain shell for my daily commute in ~30F weather - it performs really well in both situations. The color (Tatsu) is great too - subtle but stylish.
I haven't worn it as a standalone outer layer yet, and haven't tested it with a backpack, so I can't speak to how it holds up or if it pills over time with that kind of wear. But so far, it's been excellent.
Highly recommended if you're looking for a versatile, dependable layer.

I mean it's an Arc'teryx jacket, they fit great, supper comfortable, well wearing and protective.
This is one of many in my arsenal of Arc'teryx gear. I also have the atom LT and this one is heavier with a lower back than the atom.

Absolutely love this jacket. I basically live in it from October - March so I'm buying two more so I can rotate the stock and get them in the wash periodically. It looks great and breathes so well that I can leave it on as I move throughout my day. Love the long, trim cut and long sleeves.

I've been using this as an outer layer when I'm getting out of the car and getting ready for the skin up. It's warm enough as I'm pulling the boots on, slappin the skins to the skis and packing the backpack. If the approach is not too strenous, it's a great outer layer.
Awesome mid-layer for them ice climbs. non-bulky insulation when moving on the ice. Although it is fitted, I don't have any issues with movement when swinging my tools. As a belayer, you'd prob want something warmer but that's what belay jackets are for eh!
Also a great layer post-run to keep warm but not overheat when you're cooling down. Super versatile, stylish and just outright sweet on those mild winter days.
I'm 173cm, medium build. Small fits with a baselayer but wouldn't stash anything else underneath. Can bunch above the harness if your waists are a bit on the wider side.

This fits me much better than the 2019 version. I like that doesn't cut into my armpit so much and I can actually get a mid layer under it if I want to.
The stitched logos are an improvement to the heat pressed ones. The inside is softer, which makes it more comfortable on the skin, and it still breathes, as well as the older version.
Maybe even slightly better
The hood still fits great and accommodates A helmet But you're not gonna be able to get a ski helmet under it.
The cuffs are great as per usual as is the drop hem in the back.
My only issue with my order is that it was sent without tags from a Chicago store and the pockets are unzipped. I still need to look it over to make sure it hasn't been pre-worn and that it doesn't have any holes in it. If I need to return it due to defects and can't because there's no tags on it, I'm gonna be very upset! Hopefully, that doesn't happen.

I use this as a heavyweight mid layer splitboarding on days colder than -15C. Any temps warmer than that and I find the jacket way too warm and switch to the LT version. I keep my beacon in a dedicated pant pocket, so having a chest pocket in any jacket for a phone is ideal.

Used it leading a group through Alta Via 8 in late summer/early fall and it performed excellently as a morning chilly layer while getting moving and an evening layer eating outside. Also used it through late season rock climbing when the sun hadn't hit the rock yet. Perfect level of warmth and felt like it worked in a wide temperature range and range of activity. Durability was top notch - no issues with snags or rips through several months of use on rock.
Only constructive feedback I'd give is that the recent sizing change made it a bit big and boxy on me. It didn't feel like the typical svelte fit I've come to expect from Arc. For reference, I'm 6' (183cm) and 195lbs (88.5kg) with a 43" (109cm) chest and 34" (86cm) waist...not really slim, not really big, but the medium is too tight and the large is way too big. Everyone's body is shaped different though, so hopefully that helps you find a good fit!

I've used this jacket ski touring and ice climbing and I love its versatility. I use it primarily as a mid layer skiing or ice climbing but it also performs well climbing on the skintrack as an outter layer on cold days. The warmth/weight ratio is amazing. Another great feature is the inside fabric they used which is extremely comfortable!
