I love the Speedgoat 6 GTX but my right shoe is not very comfortable around the inner area close to mu big toe. When I walk I can feel the material bend and feels like a wrinkle in the material and it puts pressure on my foot...hurts. Don't know what to do. I have not worn then many times yet so I guess I just need to wear them and get used to them.

Bought these to train for the TMB this fall. Finally a women's size 12 that has enough room to wear a thick hiking sock. Also can fit my full-shoe orthotics in them. Would give an additional star but haven't worn them enough to see how the water-proofing holds up. One last thing- the inverted V-shape of the tongue is just weird. Most folks use the tongue to help pull on a shoe. Plus the bow of the laces rests partially on the top of my sock- so some much needed padding has been eliminated.

The grip on loose, rocky trails is amazing! Better than several pairs of “proper” hiking boots I have. I live in Southern CA and our trails are gritty and rocky. I haven’t tested the waterproofing yet, but I choose these with Gortex to serve as walking shoes on rainy days and for vacation hiking. The heel is not as cupping as I would prefer. That’s the one star off - more of just a half star off really. They’re not slipping, just not quite as high on the heel as I would like. I’ve worn them for a bunch of six mile hikes and will reach for them next time. Feeling sure footed on steep slopes is fabulous!

This is my 3rd pair of Hokas so I felt confident that the size would be a good fit. I will be wearing them on a trek in place of hiking shoes and so far they feel great!

I loved the design, but the comfort level was not there for a Hoka.

I love this show. Have for years. It seems the toe box is getting more and narrower unfortunately. Even with a size wide.

Love the look of the shoe and the width, however I felt like the height of the shoe was too restrictive, especially because the tongue of shoe was stitched in place not allowing for extra room.

The speedgoat and challenger 7 fit completely diff . I’m finding that there’s a different model for every type of feet.
I'd also recommend:
Hoka challenger

I own a previous model of the Speedgoat GTX, and this edition definitely runs smaller: narrower and not as tall top to bottom. When I put my orthotics in (which I use in the old pair), I could barely get my foot into the shoe. Incredibly tight. I tried a half size larger, and it did not help. I did, however, find the non-gore tex Speedgoat roomy enough.
I'd also recommend:
Dansko, Brooks, Aetrex, Chaco, LL Bean for hiking shoes

I love the speedgoat 5 and have had 3 pairs. The speedgoat 6 is far narrower and has a smaller toebox. I wanted and needed this shoe for an England trip- i am very sad it didnt fit!!!!

I wear Hoka for my gym class and I really like it. I need a trail waterproof shoe for an upcoming trip in a wide size but this black is the only color available. I took the chance to try this on and see if I can live with the color. Unfortunately not! Fit is okay but the color is really dull for me. I wish they would offer Wide sizes in other colors. Sorry but I have to return this.

I made the mistake of not trying these shoes out before wearing them out of the house, so I think I'm stuck with them. Each step I take the shoes (each of them) make a popping sound.
They dont slip off my feet, so I don't think they're too big. I genuinely just think it's the shoe. This is the first pair I've owned. Bought my daughter and I each a pair. She loves hers. Says her feet don't hurt an hour into her shift anymore.
Wish I could get past the popping noise cause they're not bad, just hate the noises they make.

Have been wearing Hoka's for years now and are great shoes, however, this last pair we got for my wife are too tight on her and there is little room for her toes. Loosening the shoe strings doesn't help much with the GTX because the tongue is connected to the sides for water-proofing.

I really liked the appearance of these shoes, but they were, as other reviewers stated, an odd fit - kind of narrow even in a Wide size, especially across the top arch’s of my feet.
Hoka, please make more gtx offerings nin WIDE!

This is my 6th pair of Speedgoats and they are just not as comfortable as my others. They are much stiffer and the sole is harder. I doubt I will be buying another pair. I have a previously broken foot and I rely on them for their comfort, so I can hike.

The shoe is tight fitting and the odd tongue isn't moveable and had a fold which created a bruise on top of my feet. At the end of the day when I sat down my feet immediately started to swell to the point I had to take the shoes off. Had to return.

Not the same type of comfortable shoe i usually get from hoka. The heel was weird and pinched back on the left one and they weren't nearly as supportive as I need. Can't wear them.

I wore them and purchased another pair since I think 2024 they may have changed their design. The last pair I purchased this year was beyond stiff not comfortable.

The toe box is extremely narrow in both width and height, causing my big toe to rub on the top of the shoe. I always wear the same size in other Hoka models, so this was unexpected. Unfortunately, I purchased them from a vendor that doesn't accept returns. This is the first time a Hoka fit has disappointed meand I have very narrow feet. Hoping they feel better once broken in.

The shoes fit great but after wearing them for the day at work 8 hours my feet ache
I also have a white pair I am saving for summer do you think they will hurt my feet like the ones I am wearing now?
The reason I bought them is I only heard good things.

The tongue is sewn in, immovable and uncomfortable. Despite loosening the laces as much as possible, it’s really hard to get your foot in. The forked tongue also makes it hard to grip as you are trying it on. Once on, the tongue is really uncomfortable on the top of your foot. I loved my older Speedgoat GTX but these are going back.

So disappointed in the changes made to the Speedgoat 6 GTX!!! I am a HOKA devotee and have had 5 previous speedgoats, 4s and 5s and a mid. The 5 was even better than the 4. When I needed to get new ones I saw the uncharacteristic poor reviews for the 6 but decided to give them a try anyway. Such a different shoe, wider toe box but a snub type toe, tongue is not padded enough and the shoe is just so stiff. Really wanted to love it but just not comfortable as the others were right out of the box. Please HOKA make a new Speedgoat and use the 5 as the model....the saying don't fix it if it ain't broke really applies here!!
