The tow box is small. The shoe is very tight/restricting. Otherwise as usual Hoka makes great shoes.

I have now purchased three different pairs of Hokas for trail hiking that have the vibram soles. My expectations for vibram products are durability and grip above and beyond a typical running shoe sole. My experience in all three cases is that the ball area of the sole is worn down to the point of losing 90% of the lugs in less than three months of average wear (15-20 miles per week) in a variety of surfaces. Other hiking shoes with vibram soles I own would hardly show any wear with this type of use, so I'm pretty disappointed with the HOKA/Vibram durability. I understand that trail runners need more flexibility and softer soles, but putting a Vibram label on what amounts to a standard running shoe sole is pretty questionable, and I won't be buying any more Hokas because of it.

I really like the way these shoes feel, but after about 3 weeks all of these black leather portions began to fade. They are very faded or washed out looking and have almost a greenish tint. I used some black leather dye to fix the issue, but definitely lose a few stars for this. Since this is an aesthetic problem - it doesn't affect the shoes- which are well made otherwise and are great running/ walking shoes.

I bought these shoes to play golf in. They work fine for golf, but like others have mentioned the fit is too tight in the toe. Especially in the right foot. Has given me a blister on my right big toe. Loosened the laces at the toe, maybe better. Planning to try a thinner sock. Still have 30 days to exchange....we'll see how it goes

After comparing different models of HOKA shoes many times, I decided to buy this special pair. When I received it, it was really eye-catching. I couldn't wait to put it on and found that the left and right feet felt different. The left foot was tight and solid, without any feeling of "too tight". But the right foot was a "disaster". The insteps of my left and right feet are not the same height, but the insteps are not high on the right and low on the left. But after trying on the right shoe, I felt it was very tight. The instep of the right foot showed the mark of the shoe cover after wearing it. I went home and observed it carefully. It turned out that the space formed by the lining on the left and right sides of the shoe is different. The reason why the left side is comfortable and there is no discomfort is that I think the left side is the same as the size label. But the right side is "small". Now I haven't asked HOKA to return it. I hope to wear it again to see if the right shoe will be loosened. I love HOKA shoes too much! ! There is indeed no heel pain after wearing it. Maybe this ANACAPA 2 FREEDOM model fits the foot better. Shoes are industrial products, and the sewing process is always done by hand. It is inevitable that the left and right shoes are different sizes.

This version of the Anacapa is narrower in the toe box than previous versions. The incorporated tongue makes it tighter across the top of the foot. I'll go back to the breeze.

This seems to fit small, and the tongue type makes it so tight over the foot that it is uncomfortable.

These shoes must be untied before putting them on/off therefore NOT slip ons! Try another brand for slip-ons!

I ordered this shoe for my husband for Christmas in the same size as his other four pair of Hokas. They looked great. He wore them for an easy, short 3 mile hike and his toes were painful after. They seem narrower, especially in the toe box compared to his other Hokas. Unfortunately, I returned them and ordered the Anacopa 2 Low GTX but had to return them as well for the same reason. This series seems to fit differently than his other Hokas.

Fit is good, however does not seem to have any foot support padding at all. This is very unlike any of their other versions I have. Probably would not buy this version again leaves my feet feeling sore after few hours of wearing. I will definitely have to purchase some inserts for the 3 pairs of shoes I purchased. For the price and comparison to Hoka's other varieties, I would expect better.

I bought these shoes in May 2025; after 3 months of very light use, the ankle collar started to come apart and the seams of the eyelet reinforcement began to loosen. I am very disappointed because they are expensive shoes.

On the third day of wearing these the right shoe started squeaking as i walked, no matter the surface i walked on. The next week the left one started doing the same. Now everyone knows when its me coming because you can hear me squeaking my way through the shop, parking lot, grassy areas too.

First time owning a hoka shoe and I really enjoyed the pair. Unfortunately after wearing for a few months I noticed on the edge of my foot I developed an uncomfortable/ painful corn. After I started swapping shoes I determined the pain only occurred when wearing these. The pressure point on the shoe caused it all along. I don't typically wear wide shoes but I highly recommend against this shoe if your feet are remotely wide.

I am not sure if it's because the the lining inside of this show but the sizing is off, I had to return them (size 12) for a 12-1/2 when I normally wear a 11-1/2 (Gaviotas and another style). I already know that Hoka's tend to run small on larger sizes but these shoes are particularly tight. Hope Hoka figures out their sizing for larger sizes.

The first pair of Anacapas were great. Good support and durability. Lasted me 6 months. This latest pair have proven not as good. This pair has a tendency to collapse my medial arch. I'll need arch supports to help me traverse the mountains and rugged hills. Really hard on my ankles.

Unlike my other Hoka shoes, the Anacapa 2 Freedom were too tight around the ball of my feet and the toes. The width of the shoe was fine, it was the height that was inadequate, causing the shoes to pinch uncomfortably. The shoes looked good and the quality seemed fine, but they were just too small at the toe end. I returned them and was refunded.

Felt good in the store. Took them for a run/hike and they were very unstable. Laces are heel-locked. Lots of pronation and supination. Felt like I was going to roll my ankle on the trail. Unless you plan on walking on a sidewalk, this is not the shoe for you. Disappointed, I wanted to like this expensive shoe.

I purchased due to my wife describing them as very comfortable and I even purchased her another pair at the same time. I have not been able to wear them for very long. I tried them on several different days during different activities and really think they were a bad decision. I have left them in the closet and continue to wear my Sketchers which I consider much more comfortable.

I typically love Hoka's, but this style was horrible. My feet are sore after wearing them for 2 days. I'm hoping I can return them without a box. I'm going to stick with Clifton 9
