I love a French sailor striped top for summer so I ordered 2. They are BOTH going BACK! What is going on with the womens clothing at LLBean! What used to be my go-to for quality, classic and consistent styles for years, has become a major disappointment time and time again. I have wasted more time and money with returns! But I am a slow learner and keep trying hoping for improvements! These tops are absolutely pathetic for a woman unless she is shaped like a refrigerator! Sooo wide and boxy! They looked nothing like what was pictured. Come on LLBean! Time to get your act together or you'll be losing a lot of long time female customers!

For years this Breton sailors top was my go to. I loved wearing it, it was comfortable and looked good. So when I ordered a new one last year I was very disappointed to see that the shape, fabric and style had changed. The fit was boxy, the dropped shoulder and neckline very uncomplimentary. Please bring back the former shape.

The dropped shoulder seam makes a very boxy baggy look. Kind of a cheap cut. It is too large for the size and the marine blue and mineral red are dull colors. Also the fabrics is about half the weight of the heritage mariner tops I have purchased in previous years. Don't know what's happening to the LLBean I have bought from for the last 30 years.

This shirt was like a tent around the waist. I would have kept it but for that. The shirt is standard LL Bean quality otherwise.

I bought the same size and style of a shirt I have owned for 7 years, as the old one finally wore out. It's not the same at all, the shirt is much bigger, the fabric is lighter weight and the serging is low quality. I wish I'd read the reviews, I'm so bummed. I loved my old shirt.

Disappointed with this top. The quality is not typical LLBean quality. I've had several versions of this top in the past and they have fit well and lasted many years. The cut on this is very strange. I ordered an xs as I do in most Bean tops. The neck is so wide it slides off my shoulders, yet the armpits are almost tight, even with the dropped shoulder. I should have tried it on before I washed it, but made the silly assumption it would fit as older versions of this top fit (lesson learned)!

So disappointed in this top. It is NOT the heritage Breton shirt. This version has dropped shoulders, which is a cost-cutting construction technique that leads to a boxy, wide torso -- which is worsened by the cropped length. So unflattering on everyone and so non-functional in life. Dropped shoulders do not fit under jackets. Cropped shirts expose the abdomen when you raise your arms. Boxy shirts look ilke, well, boxes. Please bring the real Mariner top, not this imitation version.

I actually thought they sent the wrong size when I took this out of the package. I'm 5'3", 115 lbs, purchased an XS Reg like all my other LL Bean shirts. This one is ENORMOUS!! Shaped like a box, no style, even the shoulder seams are about 4 inches down my shoulder. The body is a full 4 inches wider than my cotton LL Bean t-shirts I purchased earlier in the year. The description does say "relaxed fit", but you would never guess that it was so large from the photo in the catalogue. What a disappointment. I've had these shirts in the past, and I love the fabric and weight and sailor look. But not this one. What were they thinking??

I was looking forward to buying a new one of these is year. The fabric is not as nice and those terrible sloppy dropped shoulders aren't flattering on anyone. Why did you try to fix something that wasn't broken???????

I wanted to buy this but hate that it now has dropped shoulders. It makes it look like it doesn't fit. Not refreshed, ruined.

Terrible fabric! Heavy and it had a cheap thick weave..I put it on..I'm a 12/14 and I looked just plain fat! The construction of the shirt is off. I thought I was getting a traditional striped t shirt but sent it back.

I have been a huge fan of your original French Navy shirt in all its permutations. I bought the new Heritage Mariner top in hopes that it would be very similar to that one. Unfortunately, it was nothing Ike it except for the stripes. Too boxy, very unflattering fit, harsh fabric.

I bought one of these years ago and it is my all time favorite top. It never shrank, held its shape, fits great , skims over my curves. This new one only resembles it because it has stripes. It has no shape; it's a box with sleeves and I look like a linebacker in it. I am so disappointed. If I hadn't washed it I'd return it. Please rework the shape. I can't imagine anyone could look good in this version.

I returned the two "Heritage Mariner Boatneck" pullovers from this order. I was VERY disappointed that the styling had changed from the version I have been ordering for years. It is now shapeless and sack-like. I hope that L.L. Bean will reinstate the old design soon.

The fabric, fit, and style of this shirt are all awful. Especially in comparison to the classic sailor shirt Bean is known for and that I was hoping to replace. I really hope they bring back the real thing. This was such a disappointment. I don't understand why this formerly great company is now producing such shoddy imitations of their own great styles. Returned immediately after trying on.
