Awesome shoe - These are my first pair of Dr Martens and I love them. I take a size 16 shoe (US) and have difficulty finding a good looking pair of shoes that offer a lot of support for my 6'6" frame. These are super comfortable and extremely supportive. I am looking forward to buying more Dr. Martens.

Comfy, with a classic Dr Marten look, perfect! I've owned many pairs of many versions of Docs (please bring back the 9814 series!), have loved them all but the steel toes, and these are no exception. Chunky, cushy sole and vintage looking brown leather and wing-tip styling, not to mention Docs' superb craftsmanship, have cemented my loyalty to the Dr Marten brand.

Not my last Dr Marten - This is my first Dr Marten shoe and probably won't be my last. They are surprising comfortable considering how stiff the leather is, and the sole is quite soft. Unfortunately, they don't breathe at all as there are no vents. I've had mine for a few weeks and they still squeak quite a bit. I also had to buy a size bigger because my feet are a bit wide. Still highly recommended though!

Great shoes.... Just replaced my first pr of DM wingtips that I bought in '93. Breaking in my new pr and looking forward to having them an equally long time. FWIW, I've owned many prs of DM shoes and boots and they've all worn like steel. Take care of them and they'll last longer than just about any other shoe.

I love this shoe! I get so many compliments on this shoe! I bought them for work but find I wear them nearly 7 days a week! The sizes do run big but they are still incredibly comfortable! This is the 3rd pair of Docs that I own...the others are 12 and 7 yrs old and you would never know!

Solid Shoe - These are great shoes. It took a week to break them in but once broken they feel wonderful. This is my second pair of Docs Wingtips and I would buy a third. BTW - Docs run large. I wear a 14 and I have to buy UK 12/US 13.

Classic Docs quality shoe - Probably my 5th pair of Dr. Martens ever, and these will surely be my favorite yet. The brown wingtip goes perfect with my IT geek wardrobe of khakis and polo shirts. Day 2 and the leather's already starting to get used to my foot. I expect by the end of the week I'll have another pair of shoes that will get years of daily use. If you've never worn this brand before and have really soft feet, be ready for a rather tough break-in period. After that you'll swear by Docs forever and revel in how good the bouncy sole keeps you on your feet all day with a lot less fatigue than standard dress shoes.

Lightweight, Durable. Ok, here's the deal: the color is much lighter in person, nothing some black shoe polish can't fix. It actually comes out much nicer (dark burgundy). This shoe is very light compared to Docs of old. This means no knee pains! I needed this for work. I'm a teacher, so I need a shoe that looks slick, can take the mud on the playground, and won't alert anyone to my approach in the hallways. This shoe does all that. These are Docs, so they'll last forever. The longer you own them, the more comfortable they get. These shoes took about 4 full days of pain (by the tongue of shoe and ankle) before they broke in. Now there's slight pain, but once you suck it up and these break in 100%, it'll be the best shoe in the world.

Docs - This is my 8th pair of Docs. Of the 8, 3 have been wingtips (black, brown & black/white). I have a wide foot (EE+) and a high arch. My measured size is 8.5, but the size 9 (US) Dr. Martens fit well. The toe box is not too far forward. They are casual/dress in style and last forever and a day.

Shoe was definitely too small. I ordered a different model and was perfect. DM doesn't have half sizes which in this case would have helped. Nice shoe otherwise.

This is the third pair of this style of shoe I have purchased in the last ten years - first time in brown. I have always had to break in the shoes a fair bit but these had particularly stiff leather. I had to do a rather thorough mink oil treatment to get the leather pliable enough to not create blisters on my slightly larger right foot. Once that was done - these shoes are great! Stylish, good support and good durability.

This is my 4th pair of Dr. Martens shoes and I have to say this brand really lasts. However, for this pair of shoes, while style is still excellent, the quality is really not what it used to be. Outside they look great and well made but inside both shoes had insole lining that only went half way (only the back of the shoe covered). Inside the shoe, where the lining stopped, glue was visible all around the front of the shoes making them look unfinished. In addition, there was a big glob of glue inside one shoe. I am still keeping them but I would expect a lot better quality for the shoes that cost above $100. As for the fit, they run large, feel really roomy and require thicker sock. Would be excellent shoes for someone who needs wider and roomier fit.

They are huge. I wear a size 7½-8 and my feet were swooshing around in them. The size 8 shoes that I ordered felt like a 9. They are very cute, and solid shoes otherwise. Doc Martens are heavy, I suppose that is good for a workout for your legs.

I had to buy these shoes based on style. The fit kind of snug, but I'm sure that will manage itself out. I have a wide foot so I knew that would be an issue anyways.

Style is superb; shoes go well with business attire as well as with jeans, but these are very uncomfortable if you are on your feet for any length of time (little cushion and very stiff).

I've been wearing Doc Martens for the past 15 years almost exclusively, owning about 8 or 9 models among boots and shoes. The model 3989 in black is yet another member of the family of Docs and my third pair of non-England made shoes. My Docs have had an average life span of about 5-7 yrs. depending on use. Docs are known to be very tough shoes. I have noticed a certain decline in quality and less attention to detail and craftsmanship in my newer shoes. The non-England made shoe is a harder wear and lacks past finesse in the way the shoe conforms and fits to the foot. Even the 3989 is somehow an easy shoe to wear, much superior and easier than my last pair of steel toe Docs which completely refused to be tamed and wore hard on the feet even after 5 yrs of use. The 3989 has good looks, cleans readily with a brush without the need of shoe polish. I found that the eyelets are very tight on the shoelaces making them slide with difficulty thus is a difficult shoe to get in and out of as yet. I expect that they should loosen with time or maybe take them to a shoe shop to have them bored cleaned. This is a result of yet another cost cutter on eyelets. The old ones used to be made of metal maybe bronze and were good looking and covered the eye inside and out. The new ones are tiny and only show metal from the inside. Overall this a Doc shoe with a drop on quality and finesse, not as good as the old ones. It still has the distinctive good looks of classic Martens and is worth owning. But I do miss the quality of old Docs and wish the company will put more attention into their manufacturing process as they used to so as to bring back the top quality of such great shoes.

They're really well-cushioned & make me feel like I’m wearing comfortable walking shoes. The shoes aren't broken in yet, so the uppers feel uncomfortable when I put them on (but I don't notice this after a few minutes of walking...)

Great shoe after it is broken in - This is my fourth pair of DM. The shoes look great and after daily wear for about three weeks, they feel great. It did take some time to break in the leather but this seems to be normal with this kind of shoe. The color is great, but the leather does scratch easily. This can be reduced through polish and cleaning, but they are easily marred.
I'd also recommend:
the 3898 saxon shoe is also great, it is black in color

If you got some edge to you, it works with suits. I live in Detroit and I bought the Doc Martens Wingtip as a work shoe to deal with Detroit winters. I wear suits and other corporate wear. It works well in slushy streets because of the thick sole. Very comfortable and people have complimented me. But if you don't have some edge to you, the redness and general clunkiness will likely turn u off. I'm a former punker so, for me and my personal style, it fit right in and I'm 41, man. But I'm giving it four instead of five stars because, well, I'm 41 and wear suits. When climate is right I'm going back to something less edgy. And frankly I'm less edgy.
