I ware mens US 11.5 in all my shoes but could feel my toes in the Traverse. I returned those, exchanged for size 12 which took care of that issue. Topo exchange was fast, no questions asked. It was within the 30 day period. I've been wearing the replacements for 6 days, daily ware to make sure there are no other issues. So far so good. Real test comes on rocky, uneven trails. Yes, these are narrower than my other trail shows. I like the snug heal fit and find just enough space in the forefoot.

I really wanted to like these for short thru hikes but they are way narrower than my Altra LPs. Construction seems very good and I liked the insole but had to return them

After just a few walks, I wore these on an 11 mile hike with about 1500' of elevation. They were great. No discomfort and good feel for the trail (unlike some other shoes I wore the next day). Only suggestion - be great if they came in more colors. I like the dark blue some other Topos come in. :-)

I have a pair of the Topo Traverse which I think could be a great hiking shoe. Unfortunately the heel is very stiff and the inner fabric and foam in the heel have worn through with less than 100 miles on the shoes. The wear in the heal results in blisters and makes the shoe unusable.
I contacted Topo and they sent this response: "...wear in the heel cup can sometimes be attributed to the user not getting a good heel lock while wearing the shoes. If an adequate heel lock is not achieved, the user may or may not feel their heel and midfoot moving around in the shoe during walks/runs, but the movement can cause premature wear in the heel cup and the collar. We would recommend utilizing a different lacing technique such as a runner's loop to help lock your heel in better to prevent the abrasion from occurring." The problem is the shoe, not how I am lacing them.

The Traverse is a great all-around trail shoe, whether for trail running or hiking. Very sturdy and well built. Glad to see that an additional color was added!

The Travese fits my size 13 foot where competing brands did't. Plus Topo has a size 14 in case the 13 didn't fit. As advertised, the toe box is roomy (but not too roomy) and then heel and instep feel snug. I also appreciate the insole that cups my heel somewhat to help revert forward slipping. I'll buy another pair.

Great hiking shoe, roomy and supportive. I prefer my own inserts so like all shoes, if you need more than the basic foam insert, look to add your own.

I have about a hundred miles in these shoes so far on very rough trails in AZ. Topo has done some good things like extra room in the toe and no gore Tex. However for a true hiker this shoe needs to be heavier duty in every way, deeper more aggressive tread, thicker soles, and heavier sticker proof uppers.

These are the greatest shoes for hiking and I've tried them all. Nothing else comes close. Wide toe box, quality construction and the vibram mega grip means the best performance on the roughest trails. Please don't ever change this shoe.

I bought Topo Mountain Racer after returning a pair of Topo Traverse for being unsuitable for several reasons.
Mtn Racers are agile and responsive. They want to stride and scamper. They feel sticky and secure on rock and loose dirt. Feel and performance are exactly what I want. However, the toe box is too narrow at the inside, large toe. Given the superior overall performance, I am willing to put up with the narrow toe box. If it becomes a problem on a long trail I will just get radical and slit the upper strategically.

I love my Topos. Unfortunately, the Ultraventure was the only trail model made in my size (men's 7W). It fits SO WELL that I've been begging for other models to be offered in wide widths. This Traverse came out in wide and I was thrilled until I saw it's only going to be offered down to size 8. I'm so disappointed! The Terraventure is reported to be the next trail model offered in Wide - I hope it is offered down to size 7. If so, I may just buy ten pairs!!

I recently completed 2 legs (about 95 miles) of the off-trail cross country Sierra High Route wearing a 26 pound pack in these new out of the box Topos. The route includes multiple off-trail talus strewn passes up to just over 12,000 feet, as well as long switchbacks, trekking through high country meadows, and hot lower elevation valleys, with many stream crossings.
Yes, on some of the passes dedicated approach shoes would have been better, but these shoes were almost as good, and far more comfortable in the other sections.
I also noticed that even when they were soaked through, they somehow never felt squishy and waterlogged.
And here's the kicker, not only are they fast and light in the high country, they are also my most comfortable around house shoes!

I have various other Tope models all of which I love.
I bought the Traverse for a thru hike but they are very narrow so I returned them . Completely different from other Topo shoes which have a nice roomy wide toe box.
Topo really need to offer a wide option on these shoes as standard size is a narrow shoe

I live in the Rocky mountains and spend most of my weekends hiking 8-30 miles. These shoes cover all of those hikes plus everything else. The fit around the bull and midfoot is unmatched in any shoe I've ever had. My toes are free but still secure. No hot spots and then the grip is incredible with these. Will for sure buy again

I use these for rucking on mixed terrain, but I could wear these all day. Comfortable, light, and good stability (not as stable as Solomon's though). The rock plate works to reduce sharp rocks. The wide toe box is the way.

Shoes purchased for backpacking while carrying approximately 25#s. After several months of training day hikes in preparation for a thru-hike, the sole has started to show signs of delamination. After reviewing my Garmin log, the mileage wasn't nearly as great as first thought. The takeaway, for me anyway, is that the
Traverse is more suitable for light day hiking, for which I will continue to use them for. I'd recommend them for this activity only.

Used on Colorado Trail thru hike. Not a single blister. Great grip in wet conditions. My new " go to" shoe for any hike of distance

These shoes are NOT for wider feet. Don't understand why Topo is abandoning the slightly wider foot crowd, but these shoes are NARROW. And currently there are no wide sizes available. I didn't even make it a half mile before my feet were screaming at me and I was limping back to the car. It's a shame because the combination of a 5mm heel drop, a rock plate, quick drying insert, and megagrip sole sounded perfect on paper and I wanted to love these.

I know these seem to be directed toward the thru hiking niche, and I am sure they are great for that, but as a trail runner I find them to be a great shoe for runs on semi to moderately technical trails. Much like the old Ultraventure Pro, but with a slightly wider toe box a bit more cushion. Solid build. A nice ride but you still have some ground feel. Has less toe sweep (rocker) which some other Topo shoes now have - and for me that is a good thing.

When I first wore my Traverse I felt a lot of pain in the midfoot. I called Topo to ask if this was common. I discussed returning them. I was told with a few more days of wear they would relax a little in the midfoot. I decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did. They have become pretty comfortable to wear.
I'd like to compliment the customer service representative I spoke with. He had no issue with me returning the shoes and was very helpful. My apologies for not remembering his name.

I had been wearing boots to backpack but my wife has been wearing Topo hiking shoes. She suggested that I do the same. I bought them 1/2 size larger than I normally wear - the same that I did with my boots. This provided plenty of toe clearance for down hill hiking. Worked beautifully!

Disappointed on how narrow the toe box is on the newest version. Why do you change the number one thing the reason why people buy your shoes? I'm also very disappointed on the glue used on the bottom tread pad. Two different shoes I own quickly separated at the front tip when they got a little wet. I'll probably have to super glue them before I throw them out due to put-on mileage.
