I have run in the Magnafly for a few years as well as Altra Torin. This new model is as good, if not better than the 4. I love that Topo has not moved away slight tweaks to the shoe and not gone into ruining a good thing by piling on millimeters of more cushion with the "fly" series. Great feel and cushion as well as a secure upper along with responsiveness.

Are used to only buy Altra. They however have gone downhill and reduced their natural foot sheep shoe selection. So I thought I would give Topo a try. These shoes are everything Altra wanted to be but never quite achieved.

I've been with Topo since the originals (ST-1, MT-1, Fli-lyte-1, even the Otero). These are true to the original Topo fit and feel. I really enjoyed the Magnifly-3s and am already loving the 5th gen. I prefer the zero drop Magnifly over the Fli-lytes for running, walking, and wearing at work.

I was ride or die for Altra for many years, but after ruining my favorite runners, I was excited to try Topo. The sizing and foot shape is the same as older Altras (hooray!). The platform is very stable, but the ride is not very bouncy. Honestly, this isn't a big deal as midsoles flatten within 50 miles anyways. The runner's loop is great and the laces don't untie. Tongue is very plush. So far so good!!! We'll see how durable they turn out, but I'm excited to get more runs in.

Not sure if I'm the biggest fan of the sock-like material. I feel like it defeats the whole purpose of the wide toebox thing. But these shoes are dang comfy. Still relatively wide toe box, and the stack/cushion is perfect for me and very balanced. Topo needs to add a few more true 0mm drop offerings. All of the 5mm offerings are great. Need more than 1 trail and 2 road zero drop offerings because these are great!!!!

These are my favorite shoes - the Topo fit is great and zero-drop shoes have saved my knees. A couple suggestions for the next generation: Could you use a more durable fabric inside the heel? I've found that this is the first part of the shoe to wear out, often when the rest of the shoe is still in great condition. See attached photo. Also, I feel like the midsole breaks down more quickly in the forefoot of the shoe compared to the heel. Maybe use firmer/more resilient foam in the forefoot? Thanks for making great shoes!

The colors of your last three issues of this model stop me from buying. Too Garish or too LIGHT. I need two pair. Long time Topo buyer of Magnifly, i have owned over 20 pairs and now have 4 pairs wearing out. Looking at other brands.

I switched to TOPO from Altra running. These are higher quality, and hopefully will never narrow like Altra did. I do wish the sole was a little springier like the escalante racer 1, but it was 17 degrees out so they should soften up a bit when it gets warmer.

I do interval walking, and like the transition from fast to slow in these shoes. The fit is great, as I must order a men's size to get the wide width I need. Cushioning is perfect. However, the picture shows a "charcoal" color. The shoes I received are a light gray in color. Come on TOPO--get some darker and neutral colors so the shoe can also transition to business attire.

Wish running shoes came in a 13 1/2 that would be perfect. Otherwise greatly enjoy this shoe.

I purchased the Magnafly as my everyday shoe. I own several other pairs of Topos for both trail and road that I train in daily. My only concern is that like the other wide toe box brand, it feels like they are starting to make the outside of the toe box narrower causing my little toes to feel smashed.

These are my first Topos, after a string of some good and not so good Altras, after finally taking my PT's advice and trying zero-drop shoes. The Altra Rivera 2's were overall(for my foot) more comfortable and stable, mostly because of the lower stack height. Sadly, it seems too many companies want a share of the Hoka market with their mongo stacks(but poor longevity). Others I got advice from, including my PT, with Topo would offer more low-stack options, I sure would. Walk on..

Super light and well made. After mile 11, 12 though, I start to feel the road pounding back. I noticed this with the previous model as well. So, not great for more than a half marathon in my option. I really wish they would come out with a zero drop shoe made foe long distance. They don't leave us any choice but to go to there competition for that though. 28 mm Magnifly Max? The other thing is, I think the last middle front foot pad should be rub like the surrounding ones. It's always the first to wear out.

I was a fan of the Phantom 3 and owned several pairs. After trying the Phantom 4 in wide (did not love the extra cushioning) I decided to call Topo directly for advice. The Magnifly 5 was recommended and, for the most part, I am finding them reasonably comfortable. I have owned these shoes less than one month primarily for walking 2-4 miles most days. Unfortunately, the inner portion of the soles are already showing significant signs of wear.

I use my Magniflys for road running. The shoes and inserts do not agree with the pressure points on my feet. They do fit well, and I think they may work well for most people.

Would be great if they hadn't made them narrower. They are comfortable, I would recommend IF you DON'T have bunions.

The fit and build quality of Topo shoes is consistently great. However, the Zip Foam midsole leaves a lot to be desired. I find the midsole to be too firm and not very resilient. The midsole has completely compressed under the ball of my foot after only a few runs.

These fit fine, but the arch support was way too much for my feet, and I'm coming from Brooks which have arch support that I barely notice. It felt like it was pressing hard into my arch and the pressure was far back toward my heel. I couldn't wear the shoes long without my feet starting to hurt and tingle, especially when standing still. When running it wasn't as bad if I struck with my forefoot because it put less pressure toward my heel and the shoe feels very cushioned in the forefoot.

I previously purchased and liked very much the ST-4 model. When those were no longer available, I purchased the Magnify 5. THe ST-4 fit perfectly and felt very good walking 2.5-3.5 miles a day. The Magnify 5 do not feel as comfortable walking and the toe area is too wide. My feet feel sloppy in the shoe. Would not purchase again.

I loved the fit and style of these shoes but they had way too much arch support. Why put so much arch support in a zero-drop shoe with minimal cushioning. It makes no sense to me.

They butchered this shoe. The tongue is too long! And stiff. And the quality control is awful, each individual shoe is different. The collar height on one of them is a full 5mm higher than the other and the tongue is 5mm longer on one too. I tried multiple pairs, couldn't find two that matched. Nobody wants these long, stupid, tongues!

Not “minimalist” or “near-barefoot” and does not have “optimal cushioning,” nor are they good for “intense workouts.” Other than that the description is spot on. They are in no way minimalist or near barefoot. And while Topo lists them as having a medium level of cushion, it is really a high/max. After only 6 weeks of using them just to walk around the foam has softened so much that every step feels unstable. I could not imagine anyone wearing these for an “intense workout” without rolling their ankles every 30 seconds because there is no lateral structure whatsoever. The shape of the shoe is great (hooray for a wide toebox) but the structure is just awful.
