Bought these for a very specific reason - I was going backpacking through Japan and wanted compression socks for the long plane ride and then for recovery but specifically wanted wool that would be better than cotton. These were perfect! My ankles didn't swell on the plane ride, no itchiness, and great for recovery after a 25 km hike day. Thank you for finally making these!

I use these socks for distance hiking. I've tried many other over-the-calf compression socks, and most have fabrics that feel very artificial and don't breathe well. Smartwool feels so much better, breathes well, and doesn't get funky smells. I liked these so much, I've already ordered several more pairs. My recommendation for those who may be on the cusp of a different size, is to size down so you have enough compression.

I wear compression socks almost every day. These are comfortable all day long and durability I can't yet speak because I haven't owned them long enough. But if these are like all the other Smartwool socks, I've owned and loved, they will be in use for years!

I work inside and outside during the day. My boots are weather proof and my feet stunk! The socks have great compression, cushion and help with odor!

I recently wore these socks for a plane ride, they were not too hot and very comfortable. But there is only one color choice! I assume the ski socks are much heavier and I don't need warmth.

After Moh's surgery on my shin, I ordered these, since all-day compression was recommended while healing. They are comfortable and stay up, and the longer length adds warmth. Healed well, even though I stayed active, and my scar looks good.

I purchased these for a trail halfmarathon. The day of the race was horrible weather, pouring rain, cold and windy. These socks outperformed the weather! Although they were absolutely soaked within the first few KM's they kept my legs warm and my feet pain and blister free for 21 KMs!! I had no calf pain the next day which I contribute to the compression. A must for serious running

I've Never used compression socks until I bought these. They are very comfortable and stay snug but not too tight all day. Not too thick so they fit like regular socks. They also keep my feet warm and dry while out hiking or even just sitting at my desk. I will be purchasing another pair.

I'm typically a women's large and ordered a men's large this time to accommodate for swelling and my feet getting slightly bigger since I'm already an 11. The problem I've had with other compression socks in the past is they were full nylon/spandex, and were way too tight and pinched in the front where your foot and leg meet. I'm awfully sensitive to wool. I can't even have Smartwool base layers touch my skin, but these socks have been so gentle on my skin, and the merino adds breathability and temperature regulation that full synthetic ones can't offer. I still get some compression on the top of the foot while the bottom of the sock feels soft and comfortable. Less of a chore to get on than nylon ones which is great when you're pregnant and can't bend down. I should have worn these the whole time before the swelling got worse. It also helps the bruise-like pain I feel in my shins with all the extra fluid and weight I'm carrying around.

They are nice, comfortable socks. I haven’t tested them yet. They are purple and not black.

I bought these for the compression, I am not a runner. I walk a lot and they are perfect for me. My legs feel supported all day long! Almost as good as your old mountaineering socks.

I'm on my feet all day at work and these help me to stay comfortable. I want to order more.
