Shoe felt tight for a trail shoe. I'd recommend sizing up a half size.
I'd also recommend:

The shoes hurt my feet. I wore them a few times thinking that they needed to be broken in. This is just my experience. Everyone is different. I've always had great experience with Hokas.

I used this product only on vacations. So in the first few months of owning the shoe, it was worn maybe a dozen times. Noticed how uncomfortable the top of the shoe is with its horrible design for a tongue. Why would you construct such a nice shoe like the Bondi and then design this one so cheap. After only a dozen wears, the rubber on the nose of the shoe has started to separate. If you want a good shoe go with the Bondi. Stay away from this garbage.

I've been wearing Speedgoats since Speedgoat 2s. I've had around 20 pairs as I go through them pretty quickly. I can't believe how backwards they went with the 6. I hope they read the feedback and go back to making the best trail running shoe on the market.

Preface: I've been wearing Hokas for a decade, and the Speedgoat 5's are my favorite trail shoe of all time. The Speedgoat 6's are the last Hoka I will ever buy. I wore them for one trail run on a moderately technical local trail. They caused blisters to form on the outside of my feet where the upper folds weirdly due to the overlay extending past the axis where the shoe flexes. I rolled my ankle twice, which has never happened in >600 miles in the 5's. The 6's are very stiff and communicate nothing about the surface - I felt like I completely lacked proprioception when wearing them. They did not have any of the playfulness/springiness of the 5's that made them so endearing. The toe box is a strange shape, too. It tapers excessively, kind of like a men's dress shoe, resulting in laterally-scrunched toes, even in shoes of the correct size. In summary, these shoes feel like running on plywood that gives you blisters. Hoka has managed to completely ruin what was a wonderful shoe. So, I thought, I'll just return these, wait a year, and hope the 7's are better. I attempted to return the shoes using Hoka's 'Retail return policy', which states "Item can be new or used." I paid for return shipping, as per the policy. About three weeks later, I received the shoes back, with a note saying the shoes were not accepted due to excessive wear and tear - apparently Hoka considers a single use as causing excessive wear on their shoes, which should tell you something. I called customer service and was told to take them to any Hoka authorized dealer. I did that, and the local running shop unsurprisingly said "yeah, I can't do that." I called Hoka customer service again, and this time was told decisions from the returns depatment are final and there's nothing they can do. I've wasted over an hour on the phone and another hour running around town, as well as $18 of return shipping, for a pair of shoes that are now going in the trash, where they belong. Never again.

Poor design: the heel loop came off right away which ripped some of the fabric from the back of the shoe.

Bought a pair in June of last year. Wore them 3x before a 60k trail race and once since then. Cause blisters, rub on my ankles and just look all around awful thanks to the color scheme. Why Hoka, why did you ruin the best trail running shoe? Have used every version since the initial release and the 6's are an uncomfortable disaster................... Currently, they are sitting in my closet waiting to be recycled since my request to return them was denied. Silver lining was that it pushed me to look at other trail shoes by other companies and find some great options. Hopefully Hoka will rebound but I am jaded

I put around 300 miles on my speedgoat 5s and I loved them. I decided to purchase a set of the version 6 to begin wearing in for when my other ones wear out. Huge mistake, the version 6 is nothing like the 5. Complete upper change, and a 10.5 fit amazing in the v5 but in the v6 it was extremely too tight and had my foot crammed in the shoe. Attempted larger sizes, but was still disappointed. I wish Hoka would go back to the speedgoat 5 design.

I buy at least 6 to 10 pairs of shoes from HOKA every year, that's just me, also my wife wears them as well. The speed goat 6 is nothing like the earlier models. the 5's were good, but the 3 and 4's by far have been the most amazing. i guess i need to stick with the Bondi's,

I recently got the latest version SG6, after being a loyal and loving SG fan. After my first run I thought they seemed stiff and after a week of serious running I had a blister on the side of my foot. I run all the time and getting a blister was a shock and was related to how the shoe is now so stiff and rigid. I have reverted back to my SG5s and am searching for remaining stock of older SGs while I figure out what to do.

I have hiked over 21,000 in the last 4 years, including speed hiking the AT in 67 days in 2022. I have always loved Speedgoats. The 5 is perhaps the best trail speed hiking shoe ever. The 6 may be the hardest and worst shoe ever. Please fix this shoe! Discontinue this shoe immediately! Bring back the 5 asap

The fit of this shoe was exceptional, the Vibram out sole was everything you need on the trails, the midsole however was rock hard out of the box and has not shown any sign of breaking in after 150 miles. It's painful on the bottom of my feet to run more than 10 miles in these. I loved the rest of the shoe, but the midsole makes them unbearable. Fingers crossed for SG7.

Disappointed, digs into ankles. 1st pair of Hoka, wanted to try something different for running the trails, digs into ankles, made different, maybe for people with higher ankles, won't buy hoka's, only plus looks nice , but not functional.

This is my second pair of Hoka's (Hoka Arahi 6 was my first pair) and I was very disappointed when after hiking only 5.5 miles on a moderate trail the toe of the sole was peeling off... I've run nearly 500 miles the my Hoka Arahi 6's with no issues and I've run hundreds of miles in other shoes and have never had this issue. I don't drag my toe at all and this trail wasn't even that challenging or technical yet the Speedgoat 6's failed after only 5.5 miles!! This was very disappointing especially from a brand with the reputation of Hoka. It's worth noting that I think Hoka is a great brand and shoe manufacturer I love my Arahi 6's however the speedgoat 6 is just not it hopefully this changes!

I run 10 miles a day everyday except the days I run longer runs. I loved the speedgoat 5's. I hit reorder my last order and got the speedgoat 6's. (Which was NOT my last order) they were great at first, but after the first week of using them they now dig into my ankles (try running 25 miles with your shoe digging into your ankle, very unpleasant.) I tried adjusting the laces and doubling socks, nope. So sad, I really love the Speedgoat style, especially the rubber soles. The other styles have that stupid foam that wears down super quick. Needless to say, I am very disappointed.

I bet I've had 10 pairs of Speedgoats. They were fantastic! I just ordered and returned the Speedgoat 6. They were huge and the construction was very poor. They should concertate on quality not how many crazy colors and patterns they can get on one shoe.

I purchased my pair of SpeedGoat 6's at my local running shop, they fit ok in the shop and generally they do fit my heel to ball well, the toe box feels tighter than it used to though. overall I think it has potential to be a good shoe but O.M.G it is stiff, I do not know what it is but I feel like I'm stepping on a board with a thin layer of padding while using these. Mileage doesn't help either, they seem to continue to be stiff after putting down miles. I'll probably go back to my other shoes and get a different pair of trail runners down the line, which really sucks because I was excited about these.

I ordered these shoes about a week ago and was so excited when they finally arrived. Tried them on and went out to dinner. My feet hurt before I got out of the car. It was like they were an entire size too small. I have 5 other pairs of Hokas and this was my first bad experience. Try again.

I thought all hokas would fit the same. These hurt my feet. I f I could return them I would. I was sold on the color and design but didn't research if they were as comfortable as the other 10 pair I own.

Have loved the SG 4, Evo and especially the 5. Have been through 3 pairs of the SG 5 and was totally psyched for the SG6. What a disappointing experience. Whoever lead this design team has ruined the shoe. The outsole is still as great as ever but everything else has pretty much been ruined. The cushy and soft yet responsive midsole that Hoka is famous for is now unforgiving and rock hard. The lacing doesn't fit your foot at all. Many reviewers have already pointed out to save fractions a of a cent in materials the tongue is ridiculously, stupidly, bafflingly shorter than the lacing pattern. So you lace over your socks and for me that makes it unwearable. What Hoka was thinking with this I'll never understand but don't waste your money. They have totally moved away from all the core design elements that made this shoe great. Seemingly to make a minuscule bit more profit.

Uncomfortable, lacking cushion and definitely not as good at the Speedgoat 5. I am sending them back or tossing them.
