I've always swore by the speedboat line. Purchased may pairs of the 4's and 5's in wide. The 6 feels completely different and not in a good way. Stiff and uncomfortable compared to previous models. Why change something that was so perfect? Now, I'm not sure where to go. I see 5's are still available but not in wide. I guess I have to start over on my search for my perfect trail shoe. :-(

I wanted to like the sixes but had to take them back. I've been a big Speedgoat fan and usually love the next iteration. I purchased these from my local running shoe store and ran four miles in them. Immediately after my run, my feet were sore. I put my Fives on and felt a big difference. I felt the sixes were more structured than the fives and narrower in the toe box. I found it hard for my foot to settle into the shoe's footbed. The fives feel softer. I am still sticking with Speedgoats for my fall races; I am just buying another pair of fives. Maybe the sevens will work.

I have used the Hoka speedgoat shoes since I started running ultra marathons 8 years ago. They've made some changes but over all then been very reliable. Unfortunately the new Hoka Speedgoat 6 has a drastic change on it's cushion. They are very stiff and hurt my feet and made me tired after 5 miles of running. I am very disappointed.

How many grams did you save with such a short tongue?? On my one and only run I stopped multiple times to try and adjust. I returned them, I am so disappointed

Just tried a new pair in 10.5 and was very disappointed in the fit as compared to the 3 pairs of SG5 I have been wearing. They have been my favorite everyday shoes and hikers. These new SG5 seem shorter- my toes were jammed, my foot seemed to sit higher out of the shoe, the tongue is definitely shorter- the SG5 tongue was short enough. Although the weight is the same in my size, a lot of cushioning seems to have been taken out- soles seems harder. I love the cushion feel that my other HOKAS have and these have definitely changed. Was looking forward to an improvement, or at least the same quality I was loving. They overall feel like a harder, cheaper shoe now. Don't know where to turn now!!

I use this shoe for short hikes and working on tile floors because the speed goat 5 was perfect for both of these activities. After the 4th or 5th day of wearing Speed Goat 6 all of a sudden the ball of my foot just behind my big toe is too sore to even wear it again. I bought the same size 12 Wide as last years model and it feels like the midsole is too hard and too narrow. I would not buy these again.

I had high hopes for the update, but after a couple runs on rocky trails I haven't been able to get a good fit. The tongue is too short and quite uncomfortable with the upper eyelets laced. Additionally, my forefoot is sliding around even with the midfoot laced tight. Overall, a disappointing update.

Did the CEO's 6 yr old daughter design the Colorway? C'mon HOKA, when you release a new model you cannot do it in 1 color way designed for children. Sticking with my SG5 until new colorways released.

The Speedgoat 6 has a much narrower base which makes the toe box a tighter fit and removes the under support of front of your foot. The material is lightweight and seems to avoid slip when coming down mountains but there is still a lot of vulnerability with this shoe. I miss the Speedgoat 4. That sneaker was designed perfectly in my opinion and wish they continued production for sale. The Beet Root color is also very loud and wish HOKA released other options. Maybe Speedgoat 7 will be a hit or hopefully they produce more Speedgoat 4 models.

The launch of the new model needs more colorways! Holding off on the Speedgoat 6 until there's something other than Sherbert/Beet Root -- the mix of colors is terrible, IMO.

The new Speedgoat 6 has a horrible fit. I can't really comment on the rest of the features, but since the side of the shoe drives into your ankle, it's unwearable. I tried a pair and had to return them after giving it a few tries. I couldn't make it much more than a mile. I used to love the model, and it would have been my fifth pair. But now I've had to look elsewhere. And it makes sense why they keep on offering it at a discount. The people at fleet feet told me the same thing, that many people were returning them for the same problem.

The Speedgoat just hasn't lived up to expectations since the 5th edition. The 6th is not very durable and the ankle is cut tight, rubbing on your ankles creating a pain that is nasty after a few miles. We did a few longer hikes and I'm sending them back to see if the 7th edition is any better. The one positive note is that the tread and traction is second to none.

I've worn at least 3 pairs of SG4 and 10 pairs of SG5 for trail running up to 100 miles. My new SG6 feels like my worn out SG5. There a distinct lack of cushion right out of the box. The Clifton line and SG5 were like walking on air out of the box. The SG6 feels flat. The lacing system is wonky and the padded tongue is silly. I'll hopefully buy the SG7, but I won't even buy the SG6 on sale. Bring back SG5 and I'll keep happily buying.

I use for every day wear and working in a hospital definitely a downgrade from Speedgoat 5. The tongue of my shoe came apart at the seam, obviously a material/manufacture quality issue, and warranty would not cover. I've never had to file a warranty claim with HOKA with the 10+ pairs of HOKA's that I have purchased, but when I did it was bogus. The one year warranty is a hoax!!!

These shoes fell apart on me within 5 months of use. I only use them for walking, and only walk about an hour per day. The fabric on the inside near my heel has completely fallen apart to the point where I can't wear these anymore without chaffing my heel. Skip buying this model and consider buying a different shoe.

what happened to my favorite shoes. My Speedgoat 4 inventory finally ran out. I tried the 6 in the same size 9.5 Wide. It is not even close. The upper is very stiff, low volume in the instep and forefoot area. Even the sole feels very different. Could not imagine running with these shoes. Sending them back. Why can't manufacturers (e.g. Hoka) leave things alone when a shoe is great. I blame product management.

Okay messed up a proven winner when they changed the 5 to the 6. After 5 miles on the trail my feet were killing me. I have bought at least 6 pairs of 4 and 5 with no issues. I tried the Challenger 8 and it wasn't a good fit either. I bought a pair of Brooks Ghost Trail and so far, so good. I had no intention of leaving Hoka but I feel like they left me. Fix the Speedgoat and I will probably be back.

The tounge of the shoe was to short and hurt my husband's right foot. I tried to do report it and was unable to upload the pictures. I tried on my phone, home computer and work computer. Out whatever amount I paid because my husband can't wear them.

I have been wearing these shoes for more than 6 years, and I run a lot of miles. Bought this version, and started training for an ultra expecting similar results with prior models. Almost immediately, I started experiencing very bad foot pain. After about 6 miles on every run, these shoes caused blisters on my inner arch. I tried swapping out the insoles, changing my stride. Nothing worked. You might be a speed goats loyalist like me, but I suggest trying these out before you commit to running longer distances in them. Hoka may have lost my business when it comes to trail shoes.

The Speed Goat 6 is poorly made. After 3 months the sole is tearing off. I had the speed goat 5 and it was great. Trying to return them under warranty is a pain. You would think that Hoka would let the stores that sell their product do the returns but apparently they dont. I would definitely stay away from this shoe.

The biggest change from the 5 to the 6 is the significant reduction of interior cushion around the heel joint, which leads to pain in the ankle joint due to the collar hitting that joint with every step. The padding in all the former speedgoats was thick enough to push the collar of the shoe away from the ankle joint, but not these. I have been deperately stockpiling the 5's but was just recently forced to start buying the 6's and dealing with the lain until I find another option.
