I am a runner. I've been running for many years. I've heard a lot about this brand. Unfortunately, not very happy with comfort. customer service was 100% fantastic. They took back a pair of shoes that I had and I did not like running in them. My feet would start to hurt. They refunded me. I got these in the same issue.

I recently had the opportunity to try out the Hoka Kawana 2, and overall, I'm quite impressed. These shoes excel in comfort and versatility, making them suitable for gym workouts although they are a little to long for the staristepper. I'm not much of a runner so I haven't run in them and it's winter still so I haven't had a chance to take them on a long walk yet - I feel they will excel walking for me. The cushioning is ample but not so much that you sacrifice proprioception - which is an issue with similar brands. I love heavier shoes, light shoes geek me out. These may be on the heavier side for some but I personally love the solid feel.
The support in the gym is commendable, especially for lateral movements. The fit is true to size, though it may not be ideal for wide feet - that said I love them and I have relatively wide feet. While the Kawana 2 performs well in most aspects, it falls short in heavy weightlifting because they are too springy for my taste now. Once they mash down a but I bet they will be fantastic.
Overall, I would rate the Hoka Kawana 2 four out of five stars. It's a solid choice for those prioritizing comfort and versatility in their workouts. Plus they are a great looking shoe.

I am a long time Hoka fan having purchased a couple dozen Hokas over the years for running, trail running/hiking, backpacking, and sandals. My favorite shoes for years have been Bondi but they are so big and bulky (although not heavy) looking so I thought I would try something new. The Kawana 2 is very comfortable and looks good. They are not quite as cushy as the Bondi so I use these only for walking rather than running. One thing to note that was not evident in the photos is that the heal is forked with a sort of big knob that sticks out. When I look at the photos now, I see it, but I didn't notice it prior to purchasing. I'm still trying to get used to the funky look. So I've decided not to look at them. Other than that, they are comfortable and stylish and I would recommend.

Great fit & great feel. They offer awesome support for my feet, back and knees. However, in really cold weather my feet do get really cold. I have had to wear two pairs of socks sometimes but still recommend these shoes to anyone.

Nice, super light weight shoes, but just not right for my condition. I have Morton's Neuroma in one foot and it can be triggered by pressure on top of the arch of my foot. The tongue of these shoes have a kind of elastic surround which acts like a sock around the arch of your foot. It just put too much pressure on the top of my foot.

I have 3 other pairs of Hokas, all 11.5 in size, my Kawana 2 is a comfortable shoe, butt 11.5 is just a bit big. I also have Bondi 8 that is a little to tight. Both I was told to go up 1/2 size. Which worked for the Kawana and the Rincon 3.
Just a note to you Hoka Folks. What you do with the info is up to you
Regards
Mike

I love the shoes, fantastic for HIIT. From body weight, lateral movement or medium weight lifting to running it performs exceptionally. What killed for me was rowing and elliptical because the heel doesn't fit the cup. I get the design of the heel is probably what makes the shoe perform so well but it really doesn't work well for rowing machines. Going back to Solimar.

My wife saw me try them on in the house, looked at me, laughed and said nice dad shoes...I wanted to love these shoes but the bottom of the shoes that extends past the heel feels very obnoxious from a design perspective and for that I have taken 1 star away and dinged them on style. I really wanted to love the shoe but I couldn't get past the look for everyday wear.
I'd also recommend:
Hoka, Brooks and Adidas.

After having tried both the Kawana 1s and Kawana2s, I can say that the Kawana 1s have been overall more comfortable and better for overall training.
I truly hope the 1s can remain in stock moving forward, because I would love to order them again and again

I've been a big Asics fan but I wanted to try the Hoka brand. I am still becoming accustomed to the way the heel is structured because it it is so different that the shoes I have been wearing. I've only done two workouts in the Hoka's. My sense is that I'll go back to Asics, but I have to give the new shoes a chance.

As a sales rep, I'm on my feet all day long. I'm also a basketball coach and spend a LOT of time on the hardwood! Hoka came to my rescue several years ago when I was having lower body pain while running and I've been an ardent fan ever since. The new Kawana appears to lighter than the previous model and the aesthetics are pretty great too! My one ask: MORE colors.

I've been wearing Nikes and Brooks only and I mean the higher tier ones for running, gym, comfort etc. I have a lot of shoes.
I go to the gym everyday and run a mile or two. These shoes are great for the gym however any outside training I can see that the treads will wear quickly. Wish it had rubber all around but only has where it may be needed. I understand they might of done this to reduce weight. Still a great shoe.
As for comfort, it is not plush or cloud like. It is more bouncy, more of an energy return type of cushion which I prefer at a gym. Don't get me wrong it is comfortable but my current gym shoe rotation lineup is the Pegasus turbo (1 gen) and now that is plush and cloud like compared to the Kawana 2.
My first try on at the gym and 1 mile run. I felt it was maybe a bit narrow ( I have a regular to narrow foot) but it did stretch out a bit a now a comfortable for. Size is true to size.
Wide footers I wouldn't try it unless they bring out a wide food version.
Overall, love the look and comfort. I really think that last nub is not needed as I feel it would rip off if it gets stuck to a machine at the gym. I will continue to see what the Kawana line has to offer.
I'll give this a 4 because I feel like the rubber should be fully covered on the bottom for longevity.

I bought this pair on sale. Put it away for about a month and in the past week started wearing them. They are a little strange to get used to. The right heel changes feel the longer you wear them. Im waiting for the Clifton to go on sale. Not a fan of the Kawana 2.

I am a woman with a wide foot so I ordered the mens size and it was still too narrow! Toe box is weirdly long though. I liked the look and style but they were wildly uncomfortable even sizing up and down.

The shoes were narrower than expected and ran small compared to my other pair of Hokas. I wish I had worn them around the house before wearing them out because these would have been exchanged for a more appropriate size/fit match. Overall I'm disappointed with this purchase.

These fit great and would have been great for running (for mid-foot striker) but as I mostly needed them for walking, my heel felt like it was bottoming out and it was uncomfortable.

I've been on the hunt for a new pair of dailies for the gym. Something that's neutral and firm but still responsive enough for a short run, jump rope, or agility work. First impression of the Kawana was that they were extremely narrow. My arches felt like they were spilling over the sides. Even though these had a wider sole for lateral movements, the raised heel took away some stability. For some simple kettlebell cleans, my heels felt like they wanted to roll back. I wanted to like these because I love the design, but I ended up returning. Still on the hunt.

These are very nice quality shoes but I just don't like a few things. After wearing them a while I feel they are too narrow. Also don't like the asymmetrical nub on the heel. They are nice and lightweight. I will switch back to the Stinson.

These shoes are comfortable and OK for occasional wear, but are definitely not good for my daily 90-min. walks. They are too soft and wobbly, and provide little to no arch support. I previously had a HOKA Clifton 9 and it was much better than this one.
