I love these shoes! They are lightweight yet very comfortable on both smooth and rough Terrain. I bought them mainly for water use at the Colorado River and they have not disappointed!

These are by far the most comfortable hiking shoes I've found. The fit was very true and the insides are awesome. Love them

Love the hopara sandal gives me comfort on my bunion & heels. Since i have knee problem im 56yrs old size in euro i ordered 8.5 in unisex bec mens widths is not wide enought for me. but this sandal gives comfort to me i would love to wear even on winter time i just put thick socks. I order on unisex bec women size is too narrow for me.

So far going great in Kauai. 6 pairs for the users of all ages, including a day on the Kalalau Trail. Mud, streams, just schlepping around. Love these all-purpose hiker-based sandals. Slight iron staining from the trail washed off about 98% (barley, black, cream - all washed off 100%; 1 of 2 dune with slight staining). Possibly too much for those who want a simple sandal, but a fantastic sandal for those who are active/aggressive and want stability, a secure fit, and sticky grip.

Was on the fence with the first edition. Lots of criticisms with the backside weakness and giving out, as well as general discomfort at the opening around your ankle. The simple top strap left me concerned they would not secure very well. But alas, both issues appear addressed directly and I have been wearing them for a week now. The heel strap enables a more secure fit and the collar is soft. Bought them for the entire family and we're stoked to take them to the mud and streams of Kauai this week!

This is my second pair of Hopara 2 shoes. I have many pairs of different styles of Hoka shoes, from hiking boots to lowcut shoes. All are Plush soles (except the Hopara 2). The Hopara 2 are my everyday go to shoes because they do mot make my feet as hot and sweaty as the other styles and even with the Balanced soles are comfortable enough.

These hop aka opera shoes were delicious and very tender. I braised them with a little salted butter and the bindings just fell off the soul. Served with arugula and achimichurra sauce they reminded me of eating guinea pigs, roasted over charcoals that we had last year in Patagonia (the country not the store)

I've been using this as a summer shoe with socks and without socks. Both ways, it's comfortable and airy. It is a little heavier than I thought it would be, but overall a great balance between weight and cushioning.

They are comfortable and breath well. I think they are more difficult to put on/off. They're more a shoe than sandal. I use them for everyday wear.

For years, I have used Vibram Fivefingers for everything from running (6 miles or less), hiking, kayaking, and fishing. For fishing they allowed me to go in the water and still have my feet protected while not weighing me down by holding water. When fishing multiple days in a row, the Vibrams are difficult to get on and off when wet so I began looking for an alternative. Enter the Hoka Hopara 2 sandals. A 9.5 was a little short so I went with a size 10. They fit well but do stretch/ loosen up more than expected once they're broken in. They still fit fairly well but if they loosen any more I won't be able to tighten/ synch the laces any tighter. They are comfortable when on your feet all day, drain water easily and provide good foot protection. They do, however trap sand and pebbles under foot but that's to be expected in a sandal. I wish it were easier to get them out though. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. Hopefully they fix the couple minor issues in the next version.

I have purchased several of the old style and loved them. This new style is very similar, but I don't think the insoles are as good.

Loved the look. Opened the box and was surprised that the heel portion (by design) is missing. I couldn't tell in the pictures. Even looking back at them, it's truly an easy mistake to make. Maybe Hoka should find a way to point that detail out better. I'm too lazy to change my socks is they are becoming threadbare and that's the first place for them to wear. Only took one out of box. Can't tell you anything more about them.

I use my Hoparas to wear to swimming with limited walking. I like the improved rear fastener (which hasn't frayed with limited use), more enclosed foot, tightener and lace holder. Initially the prominent arch felt hard but it felt fine after initial use. My only caveat is that the 8.5, my usual size, fits perfectly except that my toes are against the end. This doesn't bother me with limited walking but I don't know how it would feel with extended walking.

The breathable upper and solid solid make this a great shoe. However, it took a couple of weeks to break in the shoe.
