Alta is just not the same anymore. I have a pair of Lone Peak 6 that I have worn for through hiking and they are so comfortable. The new 8s are horrible. I don’t understand why they had to mess with fit. I should have returned these as every time I wear them, I just want to tear them off my feet.
I am done with Altra.

The shoes I purchased are ok. I was looking for hiking boots but since Altra has had no availability of **ANY** hiking boots in size 14 for the past 3 months I really can't advise that I'm impressed with the company.

So sad with the new 8's, Loved all the earlier versions of these, but with the new loan peak 8's I can't keep my heal in the shoe. No matter how tight I tie them, even with heal lock I still feel heal slip bad enough for blisters.

Love the fit and comfort (toe box is awesome), but after only 6 weeks the outsole has worn through. Admittedly, I'm a big guy, but only logging 4-5 miles/day, so a little disappointing.

I have wide feed so hard to find shoes. These were a great fit. Comfortable and look good. After 4 months the toe box is separating from the mesh. Poor quality. Altra customer service was no help. Sad

Sizing recommended going a half size up. Was a half size too big :/

The lining at the rear of the shoes is disintegrating. Uppers and soles are doing well but will require replacement due to lack of liner durability.

(TL; DR: the laces suck)
After a week of hiking and car camping through Oregon, Washington, Vancouver Island, up through Blackcomb/Whistler, back down through the Northern Cascades and over into Northern Idaho and Montana, my current trail runners are finally about retired and my feet needed some relief.
I splurged in Montana and bought a pair of the latest Lone Peaks and loved the room in the toe box and the footbed, however the dang laces are on par with the WORST, most useless laces I have ever had!
They have to be double-knotted or they'll constantly come undone and tucking them in always brings them under the foot where they are very distracting and uncomfortable to walk on.
I don't have the receipt anymore and am SO disappointed, I'm considering giving them to a homeless shelter or just childishly throwing them away and trying a competitor; I absolutely refuse to buy different laces for what are supposed to be premium freaking shoes!
Dude, why?!

Bought these for winter running due the the claim that the shoe is waterproof. First run feet were soaked through the toe box. Wet ever run after. Never Altra again.

Comparing to King MT2, these fall way short. Pros- excellent traction, cons- sizing off b/c 1/2 size bigger, no Velcro strap, weird lacing, poor drainage. Results- blisters, foot not locked in.

Comparing this to the King MT: took best OCR shoe (spartan race) and made it worse. Better-grip, worse- sizing, drainage, fit (removed Velcro strap, lacing weird) all lead to blisters (never in KMT)

Love the fit, love everything, except the colorways. I've had to look elsewhere for my footwear the last two seasons because of these color choices. Keep holding out for some earth, neutral, black/white or literally any tone other than the current styles. The primary colors aren't really the problem, but the secondary color that ruins the whole thing. I did buy some last year because I like the wide toe box but they clash with my clothes too bad to actually wear in public. Yes, they also come apart fairly quickly but so do most running shoes these days. Please Altra, no need to respond with a hollow auto-reply, just fix the colors for us. Please!

I absolutely LOVED Altra Loan Peak shoes. I've had worn then for 8 years. Probably had 12 pairs. Everything from hiking 1000's of miles, yard work, working out, hanging out and even TTG events. Wear then until total failure of shoe.
Now avoid them completely. Shoes are awesome. BUT the COLORS ARE ABSOLUTILY STUPID.
Now I wear GO RUCK shoes. The entire team at Altra who's in charge of colors needs to be fired!

They are so soft the heel sinks into the shoe quite a bit giving a sensation of negative drop. I'm no stranger to zero drop shoes, been using them for years but these are not good. My ankle, calves & feet hurt so bad I had to return them. Love the styling though.

I loved my Altra boots and figured I'd give their shoes a try after years of wearing Brooks. These shoes gave me plantar fasciitis and are falling apart after maybe 5 runs. I don't usually write reviews, but these are noticably not worth the price tag. Would value at around $40.

Poor SupportGreat Support
I have worn almost every version of the Lone Peak over the years, and this is my least favorite. The overall shape feels wrong somehow (even though it is supposed to be Altra's "original" foot shape, which I have always liked). Arch support feels minimal, at best, and the squared-off collar rubs the bottom of my ankles. The front of the foot also seems more narrow than before, which seems to be a trend with Altra in recent years. Overall, they are not really painful, but just uncomfortable for me to wear or walk in. A few minor points: the shiny nylon upper looks ugly to me, and the laces are thin and feel cheap.

Bottom line: Altra, please go back to making this shoe in wide sizes, and please give options for the many folks with small but wide feet! I'm not alone when I say that folks want this shoe in wide and short-wide sizes too (7-8 wide!)
I wear a 7.5 shoe normally, but had to get a half size up because altra doesn't make this shoe in 7.5. Even wearing a size 8, the lone peaks's rubber sole siding digs in to the side of my foot.
As to whether I'd recommend it, it's hard. If you have healthy, narrow feet, you will like this shoe. If you have a wide foot or a small size, Altra has left you behind.

I used to brag about my Altras when I had the 6's, but I have alot of issues with the newer generations. For starters, the colors are aweful and continue to get worse. I can't understand why you choose to not have more neutral colors. Bright shoes aren't for everyone. Another thing, you need to use vibram instead of the maxx trax. I don't understand why some of your shoes have vibram and others do not. Vibram is superior and why limit what your shoe quality? Also, you decided to do away with the stitching on the toe, which was also a bad move. The previous generation shoe I had I loved, but didn't have the stitching, and that was the first thing to start coming apart. Bottom line, I was in love with these shoes, but the last two generations of lone peaks have been a big letdown.

"Grippy". There is nothing grippy about this shoe. Not sure why Altra doesn't have vibram in most of their shoes. Shoes are comfortable for sure but definitely are like ice on wet rocks.

Altras used to be my favorite trail shoes ('solely' for of the foot-feel experience). I would have continued to buy a couple of pairs every year if they just offered an all-black option. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to buy Lone Peaks or Superiors for several years because of the hideous color offering. The shape-design and materials are fine, but the colors are baffling.

As others have already said, the colors are truly awful. I bought 10 pairs of the black and grey 3.5's and have been wearing them ever since! I'm on my last pair, please come out with another black/grey option!!!

I started with the LP 3s. Best shoe I've worn. Perfect for my wide feet and great for my gait. That said, while I'm okay with the feel of the 8s, I wish they'd stop reinventing the wheel. Either way, it remains an excellent shoe. Runs a little bigger than they used to, which I also don't mind.
Biggest issue for me though is the colors. They are AWFUL. Colorways seem to have gotten worse with each new generation and I almost didn't buy a new pair because of it. Settled on the olive green because it's the least awful. "You do you" with the wacky colors, but offer a couple more subdued color options in tandem please. I'm not wearing these to express my personality or draw attention. Just want a comfy shoe.

I purchased these in February, but had a baby and only just began putting road miles on them (no trail!) last month. No treadwear yet upper has a hole at toe-seam...?! Unacceptable. Very disappointed.
