Once you get over the learning curve of zero drop and the wide toe box, there's no going back to any other hikers unless rarely I need a boot.
You'll probably have to size up as a helpful heads-up.

These shoes are amazing. Wasn't sure how I'd like the wide toe box but it is very comfortable. Cushioning is the best I've ever had in a running shoe. Will definitely buy again.

I got a pair of Lone Peaks to use in place of my Timps for daily trail excursions. It's nice and rugged for moving along singletrack with my dogs, and has a sweet tread that grips everything really well. Super stable shoe underfoot. These are as comfortable as all my other Altra shoes, and feel featherlight when wearing them. Just heaven for my feet. Nice natural shape that fits my foot perfectly. I am an 8 1/2 - 9 usually, and the 9 fits perfect. The Lone Peak 8 will be my go to shoe for all my trail running now.

Delivered two weeks ago, I've been wearing them everyday, and have nothing but great things to say about Lone Peak 8's. I'm on my feet a lot and I've experienced no discomfort whatsoever. Thanks Altra!

I have owned everything from Superiors to Lone Peaks, Timps, and Olympus ever since a friend told me to ditch my hiking boots in favor of trail runners. I found Altras in 2016, and they're all I wear now. I love the Lone Peaks for every scenario and have no reason to stray away from Altras.

The Lone Peaks have been my go-to trail running shoes ever since the very first model was released. I have a pair of version 7 that I've been using, and am happy with, but I wanted a backup pair of shoes, so I ordered a pair of version 8 in the Taupe color. I took them out for an 11 mile mountain run over the weekend, and think they are an exceptional shoe. These newer versions of the shoe feel a lot more locked in around the heel/ankle than some of the older versions, and the 8 is probably the most comfortable version that I've tried.
I don't notice too much of a difference between the 7 and 8, except that the toe box feels a bit more roomy. The toe box in the 7 feels i bit tighter (side to side AND top to bottom) than older versions of the shoe (I still have a pair of 4.5), but the 8 seems to have some more space. Other than that, it basically feels like the same shoe as the 7 to me, and I really enjoy running in them.
I will say that I like the current midsole material they are using for the Lone Peak much more than what they used in older versions. Also, the Taupe color is great, nice and understated, and I hope they keep it (or something similar) for future versions of the shoe.
I will be keeping an eye out for when these go on sale (usually when the next version is about to drop), and pick up at least one more pair.
I would give these 5 stars, but for some reason this review form will only let me choose 4 stars???

My very first purchase of Altra, extremely comfortable shoes, love the wide toe box, this is my first time wearing zero drop, they are mid strike, very different feel with each step. Very light weight, true to size, they are worth the money, I will definitely buy more Altra shoes.

This is really a great shoe and the only issue I have is that on the web website it stated that it runs smaller so I order a half size up and it's a little too big but because the shoe is so nice and so good I decided to keep it and not do anything about it.
I recommended inflow, but make sure the sizing is right.

Love my new Lone Peak 8's !!!! By far the best trail running or day hiking, through hiking, et al shoe I have ever worn.
These Lone Peak 8's have a perfect balance between:
1. traction (they have incredible grip on steep inclines, steep declines, and side slopes, never slipping)
2. fit (perfect combination of athletic/snug, mixed with relaxed comfort)
3. light weight (feel like I am defying gravity)
4. performance: the combination of flawless fit, traction, and the unique sole design (which feels like it is giving back more energy than it absorbs)
5. looks (they are beautiful)

Love the fit of Altta shoes. My feet have never been happier! These shoes are very light, the soles have super grip and provide good stability and protection on stony surfaces. Highly recommend!

I wore these shoes every day for 27 days. There was some wear and tear on the front edges and sides of the shoes because of the boulders, rocks, tree roots, rivers, lakes and streams. And I wondered. Will they hold up? Well, they did! I was surprised and excited that they could handle the John Muir Trail!!

I just finished my second backpacking trip with the Lone Peak 8.0. it was a 64 mile, 6 day trip which included Mt Whitney summit. you've heard this before but the wide toe box makes these shoes unbeatable for comfort. they also are good to go right out of the box without any break in time. I've been using the Lone Peaks for years and this model seems a little more durable in the toe and the mesh. This year the tan color scheme was really cool looking. The sole is very grippy on rock but on downhill gravel I had to be careful because the heel sometimes would slide out

Favorite shoes I've ever had and have owned 3 pairs. Just wish they would make a lone peak road or gym shoe!

Wanted to say I'm very happy with these (so far). I've been using Lone Peaks since 2.5; last time I needed a new pair of trail shoes there were none anywhere in my size, so I opted for a Mont Blanc - and ended up leaving a seriously negative review - so now you deserve a good one! The 8 seems to be an improvement over the last few generations - I was going through the uppers before wearing out the shoe, and this material seems much more resilient. Also the fit is better - the last few generations were quite tight right over the ball, probably because the laces began right there and that structure reduced flexibility; you've moved them back a little bit compared to a Lone Peak 6 and that really helps (and the Mont Blanc was WAY worse for this, the laces begin 1.5 inches closer to the toes). Really nice job on these, love having the comfy fit back.

I love these shoes. This is my 4th pair of Lone Peak 8's and my 7th pair of Lone Peaks dating back a couple versions. I use orthotic inserts due to a high arch and the zero drop is perfect for them. My orthopedic doctor suggested I try them and I have not worn anything else since.

Super awesome, coming from a Vibram 5 fingers to this for an Ultra 100K trail run and it feels just awesome, the roomy toebox is just soooo nice and I needed some more cushion for the trails
Please make the next Lone Peak with a Vibram sole, that would be a dream come true
HIGHLY recommend!

Most comfortable sneakers I own. I have somewhat flat feet and these Lone Peak 8 work great for me. The toe box is very generous, it's the next best thing to being barefoot. I feel grounded and supported. Only complaint is the ridiculous color options.

I have been running ultra marathons for around 5 years now, 50 milers mostly. In that time I have used a few different styles from altra, but my favorite has been the one peak series. The lone peak 8 is the next best shoe! It feels lighter than the 7 and has a connected tongue while still giving your feet that roomy natural running feel. I would recommend this shoe to anyone getting in to long distance running, or even the casual hiker. This style show had gotten me through many many miles and I'm excited to run my first 100 mile race in them!

Let me start off by saying these are my favorite shoe, but my god are they made cheaply. Super comfy with the wide toe box, but I get holes in the toe box after a year with every single pair I've owned.

First time trying the LP, have had Superior for 5+ yrs. The LPs have a slightly thicker sole, great width from back to front and very comfortable.

I've ran about 140mi with Lone Peak.Great altra product. I've owned last 3 generations of Lone Peak & they are quality, fit & finish shoes.
For context I run an avg of 20mi per week. Trail/Road mix
