Best product on the market I found for section hiking and just kicking it around town. Second pair more than likely won't try another product for a long time.

Absolutely love these on the trails. Went 13 miles in snow, mud, slush in mountains and felt in control the whole time. I like a true ground feel but need the extra protection on trails and these provide both. Work well for hikes and general adventuring. Love everything about them

I just returned from a 40 mile hike and the shoes performed great. The extra width in the toe allowing my feet to spread felt amazing without feeling oversized. The grip/traction was better than expected. I have about 80 miles on mine and they look new still.

I have about eight pairs of altras and I use them for running, walking, gym and work. The work part is only when I can find an all black one. I like the lone peak best. Great job.

I needed to find an alternative to Hoka Speedgoats (for hiking and mountain treks) because toe room was becoming a problem. I bought a pair of Topo Mtn Racer 3's that I thought would be it, and then MEC had the Lone Peak 8's on sale so I bought them too. I have to say that of those three shoes, the Lone Peak 8 has become by far my favourite. First, with other shoes, I frequently experienced stubbing of my toes when hitting a root or rock with my foot, and I've never had that with the Lone Peaks, it has more protection. Second, they're made of sturdier stuff than my Topo Mtn Racers, the Mtn Racers developed a small tear in the mesh after day 4 on a trek, but no issues with the Lone Peaks so far. Third, while they have less cushioning than the Hokas, and my feet tend to be sensitive to pounding on the trail, I haven't experienced any discomfort with the Lone Peaks. To date I've used them on 30+ km hikes, hikes on muddy and rocky trails, hikes on a light snow cover, and no issues. I'm very happy with them.

Either my feet are shrinking or these Lone Peaks are bigger than older versions. Great shoes, more durable than the Superiors. The tongue could be thicker/laces wider. The laces cut into top of foot.

I bought the Lone Peaks for light hiking and tons of trail walking. Besides great fit, the traction seems more than adequate and the ground-hugging design gives me more stability than what I am used to.

I have worn through two pairs already this year. Quality and longevity have sharply decreased since the buyout but at least my favorite pair of shoes is back. PLEASE DONT CHANGE ANYTHING FOR THE NINE, unless you're going to make the sole last longer.

This is my 4th pair. I wear a woman’s 101/2 but the toe box isn’t as wide as the men’s. So I wear a Men’s 9. I always use an additional arch support in these shoes. The soles on these shoes wear out pretty quickly but the fit for me is what sells them.

The Lone Peak 8s replaced my LP 7s. I also have the water proof LP 8s. I use them for daily were and trail hiking. They fit true to size out of the box and require no break in period. I love the wide toe box, zero drop, and the traction.

I use it for walking and at the gym. Good stability and connection to the ground, and great traction.

Tried the LP6s on short hikes (< 12mi) and thought they were a game changer in comfort. Trail ran in em and can see why these are thru-hiker's faves. Bought 2 more LP8s. Can't wait to backpack in them!

First rocker shoe. I ran 2 runs (a 5 mile and a 10 mile) in them before my half. It was strange at first but the rock provides a nice push off that I wasn't getting with my other shoes (escalante racer 2, torin 4.5, torin 5). PR improved by 5 minutes!

Bought these to hike trails at Yosemite National Park and Mariposa National Forest.
This is a great hiking shoe! I would definitely recommend Lone Peak 8 hiking shoes!

bought these the night before a trail marathon. I was concerned about breaking them in. My first run in them was a 26.2 mile technical run. They were comfortable, light and I finished with 0 injury!

I love altras but hate the crazy color combos. Whenever there is a nuetral color available they sellout in my size fast. Thanks for making these available. I love them,

I use the Lone Peak 8 for obstacle course racing. Plenty of grip, sheds water quickly and comfortable the whole time. When the souls are worn I use them for yard work. The foot bed keeps its structure so I can work all day without back pain. Pro tip - speed laces keeps them secure while racing and allow you slip them on and off going in and out of the house when muddy

I have about 200 miles on the Lone Peak 8 and use them strictly for trail running. Most of my runs are in the 6-12 mile range, but I'd wear the LP8 for longer runs as well. They are super comfortable right out of the box and needed zero break in time. I sized up half a size and that feels about right for me. I'm starting to notice the tread wearing down a bit here and there, but I'm hoping I can get many more miles out of these before I start slippin and slidin too much! I should note that I have 2 pair of these, I like them that much, but also looking forward to a new Lone Peak with vibram soles ;)

I have 18 miles of city walking on these Black Lone Peak 8. They are intended for city walking. Very comfortable. They seem durable. Let you know if that changes.

I have used Altra shoes for years now whether it is on the road or trail. I use the Lone Peak series for trail/road and other Altra shoes for workouts and road only runs. Love the minimal design.

Perfection. Used for walking & hiking. My old Lone Peak 4's were great for 95 miles at BSA Philmont and this pair feels just as solid. Zero drop feels like walking in a moccasin, but very supportive.
