When these arrived, they were a little bit more narrow than normal. I thought they were just tight and needed to be broken in and wore them to a conference. Unfortunately, they were the only shoes I brought, and they completely destroyed my feet. I developed numbness in my toes and pain, which has only recently gone away. They were not narrow. They were medium width, but probably just too small even though they are the same size as other shoes I have bought from Merrill.

The new Moab shoes are more comfortable right out of the box than the Moab 2s were. Ive been wearing Merrell hikers since the original ones came out years ago, and these seem to be on par with what Ive come to expect, comfortable, breathable, waterproof, etc. Only time will tell if these hold up as well as my other Merrells did, but I expect to get at least a couple years wear out of them, as in my experience Merrells hold up well to wear.

These were comfortable after the first step - they required zero breaking-in. I was only mildly concerned about ankle support, but after our first real hike, those concerns were completely out-of-mind. These are incredibly lightweight and great for walking around town, not just the wilderness. They held up great walking through tiny streams and the soles were grippy walking over wet stones. If I had to change anything, I might address 2 things: 1) The laces require a double knot. For some reason, a single knot comes undone almost immediately, but I have yet to loosen a double knot unintentionally. 2) The waterproofing gives these shoes a bit of a puffy look. I'm not sure if the standard width also does this, but I can say the wide width felt "fat". This is more of an aesthetic problem, and perhaps all waterproof boots have this issue, but I thought I'd at least mention it.

I have been wearing the MOAB 2 and now 3s for years. Very comfortable. The only issue I have is I do a lot of walking on asphalt and concrete, ~ 16-18 miles a week. The rubber on the heels wears down very fast to be totally worn out, often within a few months. This does cause some issues. A more durable rubber sole that would wear longer would make these shoes even better.

This shoe is perfect! Im a flatbed bed truck driver and I walk in a lot of gravel delivering loads in unpaved areas and construction sites. It give comfort, durability, and support when Im on my feet. I like the fact that its a natural wide shoe and its not so tight on my foot. Also it being a waterproof shoe is plus ;)

I dont like buying shoes online but my keens fell apart in Yosemite and I was angry. I also am size awkward in everything I wear. I have wide feet but every time I get EEEEE extra wide they dont feel snug? Anyways so far so good.

Awesome on the trail or at work. I work at a Hospital and Im on my feet all day. Great support, comfort, and durability! Much better arch support than earlier versions of Moabs. Better construction too! The soles give better traction on rock, gravel, and wood. You dont feel the stones underneath your feet. On hard surface floors at work, they feel great . This is my 3rd pair of Moabs . The Gore-Tex versions are nice, because your feet breath well and theyre waterproof . Great for all Beginner through advanced trails that dont have technical climbing involved. For example, I could have used the Mid Top version of the Moab 3 Gore-Tex for climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, in Tanzania in Mid August

Although the shoe has been great the lack of Merrell making a quality product that lasts is still a on going problem for Merrell. Merrell products wear out at a much higher rate than any other boot or sjoewe have bought. For the high price point of Merrells you would expect a better lasting product.

2 months and already breaking! You can see after just a few hikes that the shoes are already becoming dislodged. Id expect more for $150 pair.

I have owned several pairs of Moabs over the years, so I was excited to see them updated. As much as I love orange, and I really love orange, I miss the leather versions. I could better disguise them for work and travel. These shoes do feel differently than previous versions. I have hiked with them across different terrains from National Parks to local trails, as well worn them across more than a few urban landscapes. They feel more like a heavy duty sneaker or low profile hiking shoe than previous versions. The grip is excellent across pavement, rocks, snow, mud, etc. The "canvas" and mesh do hold the mud more than the leather shoes, so they need to be cleaned more frequently. The shoe is a hint tighter on my foot than the older versions, so they really need to be loosened on long flights. I find matching sock thickness is more important in this shoe. Thin compressions slide around and heavy wool can make the inside feel shorter. I'm interested to see if the shoe breaks in or retains the firmer quality. Lastly, the inside heal is different from previous versions around the Achilles. While that isn't an issue for me, I can see that worth investigating for some folks.

I have been using Merrell products for many years and as always, these particular shoes are sturdy, yet comfortable. They fit snugly yet are not too tight. I know they will last through many hikes and outdoor activities. Thank you!

These appear to be very nice shoes but they are extremely narrow. I have always worn medium width shoes so that is what I ordered. I could barley get my foot into these shoes. I didn't think that would be a problem. I would just exchange them for a wide. Wrong! The exchange page would not let my select a wide even though it is shown as available on the website. I had to pay return shipping and will have to reorder the shoes.

I have owned around 8 or 9 pairs of these and love the fit and breathability. I had tried the Moab regular waterproof model previously and they were always too hot even on normal weather days. I switched to the goretex model and have stuck with them for many years. Stayed comfortable in all temps. However, this latest pair do feel warmer than previous models even in the cold of winter. Has the goretex lining changed?

I honestly have not bought the new ones because the ones I bought 2 years ago I wear every day and even in winter (Vermont) they still are awesome. I will purchase again just to have another pair shortly.

This is the four pair of Moab's I have bought. The boots are comfortable and waterproof. The soles wear well. My only complaint is the laces. The round laces never stay tight. I have other hiking boots with flat laces and they never come loose.

Overall, a good shoe. I am disappointed in the sizing / fit. I wear a men's size 12. I recently purchased a pair of Moab 3 Waterproof (NOT Gore-Tex) and there is a distinct difference in fit. The toe box in the GoreT-Tex is "sloppy" as you might be able to see in the photos. The fit in the Moab 3 Waterproof is spot on. It's as if the 2 pair are different sizes. Not sure what to do, but Merrell asked me to rate the shoes, so I did.

Tight fit in relation to the other 3 moabs I have utterly used up. Would have gone a full size larger on a re-order.... 12 to 13.
