Exactly what I was looking for, a training, not a running shoe. Yes, there is a difference. The bottom is flatter and stiffer without any bounce so perfect for strength training. The lateral support is there, so they also work well for HIIT classes.
I'd also recommend:

Usually gym shoes don't have the right arch support, but these are so dang comfy. They have a high backs that hug your feet nicely. My favorite all around shoe for cross fit and lifting.

Great gym shoe! Very comfortable, a great fit, roomy toe box but not a "wide" shoe so it fits nicely around the foot. Shoe looks good too. Happy with purchase, I'll probably pick up another pair

My personal trainer recommended I get a cross training shoe for workouts. So glad I did! This show is great. It's very stable and makes workouts feel more confident. There is plenty of room in the toe box. If you are looking for a superior gym shoe, this is the one!

I love these sneakers. They are perfect for lifting sessions in the gym as they provide great stability and they are comfortable which is what I was looking for and needed. It is also breathable.
