Customer Reviews L.L.Bean Signature Organic Cotton Rollneck Sweater Fair Isle

I purchased this sweater in the Light Taupe Heather Mallard size medium. I would say it fits true to size and on initial unpackaging felt like good quality, however after washing it once per instructions and air drying it the cotton material looks as though I've had and worn this for years already. It looks pilled, faded, and frayed - overall terrible for having only been washed once and never even worn. It might be the lighter colors in this colorway but I am pretty unimpressed with the quality for the price. Luckily from a distance it looks decent, but again I would have expected better for the price. Overall this does not stand up to the quality I expect from L L Bean and I am disappointed with my purchase.

Fair Isle refers to a specific type of knitting and this sweater is definitely not it. I expect better from LL Bean. I like LL Bean in general but will think twice before I order from you from now on.

I'd love to buy a Shetland style sweater for my husband, but not of these is even remotely a knock-off of genuine Shetland knitting. Most are intarsia. A lot of would-be customers are put off by this huge and culturally insensitive inaccuracy.
