The shoes are beautiful, but I've had $60 Asics with more padding for the soles. I probably won't buy another pair.

Comfortable but I had to go half size smaller. These seem to run big.

Just OK. The fabric does not fell as sturdy as other brands. Prefer the Altra Via Olympus 2.
I'd also recommend:

These were my go-to boots for winter day hikes . I did not, however, do any multi-day hikes with heavy pack. They're super comfortable and--despite how flexible and lightweight they are--good for ankle stability on rough & muddy terrain. The one downside I experienced is that the waterproof membrane on the right shoe was compromised after about 50 trail miles. The left followed suite about 40 or 50 miles later. For the price, I would have wished for longer use in wet conditions.

The fit is typical Topo. I have many pairs of road and trail running shoes and (for the most part) they all fit the same - and these hikers are no different, which is a huge plus especially when ordering by mail as it's comforting to know that the sizing will be accurate.
The durability is not good. I have worn these approximately twice a week for the last two months on both dry and muddy trails, but nothing extreme. The sole is separating from the midsole on one boot and the upper is separating from the midsole on the other.
Like others commenting here, my expectation for a hiking boot is that it will last a couple of years, certainly more than a few months. Due to my experience, I look at these more as high-top running shoes vs hiking boots. They are too expensive to replace every few months. It's a shame because the comfort and fit is really good for me.

Gail from Tacoma gets it! The Phantom 2 was perfect aside from fast wearing rubber. The P3 is uncomfortable after even a brief trial wear and did not improve when wearing them around the house in an attempt to break them in (ridiculous I know to talk of breaking in Topos). The fit and cushion on the P3 doesn't stand up to its predecessor. So please, please just make the identical P2 shoe again! No changes please unless of course you can provide a durable rubber sole. :)

They fit great but I bought these for their waterproofing and in less than a year, they are no longer waterproof. Both boots failed in the same area around the ball of my foot where the boot bends and water gets in from wet grass.

I had high hopes for these boots. I have used and continue to use Topo trail running shoes with no issues. The waterproof Trailventure 2 WP boots however have been disappointing. My first pair went a year without leaking then fell apart (basically flooded my feet during a rainy backpacking trip). I purchased a second pair before my first pair failed (thinking that the design or features would change). Now I have another failed pair of Terraventure 2 WP boots. One boot leaked the first winter of use. Year 2 and both boots leaks and have multiple points where the sole and toe seal have separated.

Wore these everywhere for 3 days. First day: impressed with the comfort. Second day, started to notice discomfort in my ankles and heels ( i have plantar fasciitis with bone spurs, so this isn't that unusual); but by day 3 the pain became pretty severe. i realized it could be the shoes, so went back to my old shoes, and over the next 3 days the pain went back away. The TPU heel counter goes PART way under Your heel, but not under the whole, so it's uneven support aggravated my bone spurs.

Mainly walking the dog on trails, grass and pavement.
After less than a year of ownership and NOT being overly hard on them the seams came apart so that now they soak my feet in water. Not durable as I would have hoped.

I bought my 75 year old father 2 pairs of these now and they have both pealed at the seams . He doesn't hike or do anything but walk in them. He thinks they are incredibly comfortable it but the quality isn't good for the price. It would be nice if you lowered your price to match the quality .

I bought these because they were comfortable and most importantly lightweight. Unfortunately, they are not durable. I have worn these on only 4 hiking trips(most recently Mt Whitney)....maybe put 80 miles on them at the most. The tread on both boots in the same spot has either fallen off or is falling off. I don't think these are built well enough for serious hiking endeavors. In fairness to TOPO these problems may have been addressed in these WP versions, my review Is for the non WP version.

Forced my feet to pronate. Toe bed was wide enough but narrowed too much through the arch area.

Pros: They fit great, with a nice wide toe box and cushy ride. Waterproofing works great (at first).
Cons: Very aggressive toe spring that adds up to soreness on long hikes.
After only about 40 miles of hiking the sole came unglued from the upper at the bend in the ball of my foot so water now seeps in.

I got these Trailventures for my new winter boot. I love how lightweight and roomy they are, HOWEVER there is water seeping in between the mid and upper. I would exchange them but I fear I will receive another leaky pair so I'll try sealing them with shoe goo. Also, the ankle support is not the most comfy. I mostly wanted the mid to keep out snow so that issue doesn't bother me much. I upgraded the laces too since the stock ones came undone easily. The lacing system is cumbersome. I think they will serve my needs but there is a lot of room for improvement.

Very cheaply I made. Serious athletes do not buy they last less than a week.

I'm 77 and I walk minimum of 6 miles daily. For years I've worn Topo Phantom 2. I was so impressed with this shoe, it was the first time I walked with no foot pain! This last Christmas my husband bought me the Phantom 3. I just put it on for the first time last week. Immediate foot pain. I will probably donate these shoes. I really want the Phantom 2 back. Why change a good thing???? Not sure what I'm going to do after my last pair wears out.

Even though emphatically assured otherwise, these have the same poor ventilation as other Gore-Tex boots. The retailer said that Topo told them that special structural features provided extra ventilation so that they breathed just as well as non-waterproofed boots. Also, they fit a half size smaller than my other Topo shoes, which are not waterproof: it appears that the outers were not made any larger to compensate for the extra space taken-up by by the Gore-Tex liner.

I was so excited about getting these boots. They are my third pair of Topo footwear. I tried them indoors and they felt great. Unfortunately I only did the first hike aftet the return period had expired . That was a huge mistake. It was a rocky hike and several times I hit stones with the toe - there is no protection from that impact. I returned home with two big toes that were red and later turned black and both nail have now loosened from the toe. I wish I had looked more carefully at this boot before committing to them.

This new model seems like a way for the company to cut costs, and sell the item at the same price. I don't see any improvements. I only notice less padding, and the shoe is not as comfortable.
