I wore these for our Hawaiian hiking trip and it rained almost everyday. By day three the trail was a running creek, but my feet stayed dry! Didn't slip a single time in my Terraventure 4s. These are my new go to hiking shoes!

This shoe is fantastic. It's extremely comfortable, fits very securely, has plenty of toe room, and keeps the feet and toes nice and toasty in the winter. The waterproofing seems better than any waterproof shoe I've ever had. The shoe is a tad bit stiff, but in a very comfortable way. A great waterproof, protective, warm, and comfortable trail shoe/hiking shoe at last.

Combined with the Topo gaiter, I've been able to handle six inches of fresh powder or six inch deep mud with no problem in this shoe. The Vibram MegaGrip outsole just chews up wet rock, mud, snow, and ice. The rock plate and low stack height makes the shoe ideal for rocky, technical terrain. Feels really comfortable and responsive underfoot. Like all WP shoes, a little stiff and noticeably heavier at first but the first time I was out in twenty degree temps with forty mph wind in shin deep snow I really appreciated how warm and well-protected from the elements I felt. Like the monster truck of shoes! You can go hard no matter how bad the conditions. Definitely recommend if you like to run in nasty weather.

I use them for work, I'm on concrete and asphalt and in the weather, the water proof and traction details are amazing. This is what I was looking for a hiking boot shoe that I can also run in. This shoe offers me exactly what I need.

Obviously I love and need the big toe box. I have appreciated how the sizing has remained consistent over the several years, pairs, and models/generations. I was concerned that the WP version of the Terraventure 4 would fit smaller. That turned out to be a non-issue for me (M9). Love them, and they don't have a crinkle sound!

I wear a size 15. If I could up it a half size I would like them better. Okay for walking around but a bit to tight for hiking.

Bought these to be my Northern Michigan winter runners. Need to be waterproof and have good grip. So far, these shoes are working well. I'm getting used to the large toe box. Once winter goes away, these'll become my summer trail runners and general goofing off shoe. So far, I'm impressed. Will consider Topo for next year's road runners.

I liked the regular Terraventure for walks in the City and also shorter Hikes. For long Hikes the Travers is my all time favorite. I bought this Terraventure WP for the cold and wet weather. The shoe is great but with the same size the WP Version is to tight for my feet and I don't like to go up another half size. Instead of made the shoe a little wider it seems that the shoe has the exact same dimensions but looses some space for the WP Inlet.

I have been buying and running in Topo shoes since 2018. I love the fit and have regularly encouraged others to give them a try. I have purchased at least 5 different Topo models and multiple versions of some models, both road and trail running shoes. The first Topos I tied were the Runventure which were close to perfect for me and sold me on the Topo brand. Since Runventure is now no longer available, I tried Terraventure since they looked to be closest in specifications. The Terraventures are well made, fit well and are reasonably comfortable, but I found them a bit stiff in the sole and around the ankle. To my perception, they lack the ground feel that I like for the trail running I do. I will likely end up using these Terraventures more for hiking and walking rather than trail running. I encourage Topo Athletic to bring back the Runventure: a lightweight, zero rise, minimal-ish trail running shoe. This is lacking from the current line up.

My Terraventure 4s are, simply put, the best hiking footwear I've ever worn. I love the fit, the comfort, the rock plate that is just thin enough for me to feel in contact with the trail, the lower stack height which somehow still feels incredibly plush, the miniscule weight, and so on. I will happily wear these till they fall off my feet and will reorder them for as long as they are available. They are almost perfect. Almost. There are 2 things about them that I find could be improved. The first is the major flex point near the toe of the shoe, which is unprotected on the outside, and the fabric there is fraying. This is the second set of Terraventure 4s I've had this happen to. That flex causes a wrinkle inside the shoe that presses against my big toes, and occasionally causes blisters there, which is the second improvement the shoes need. No hiking shoe is perfect. But these are really, really close.

They feel snug when I first put them on, but seem comfortable once I’m walking in them. I wore them for a 6 mile hike this weekend with no issues.

I have a pair of Auras, that are great, but i'm going on a trip and need a waterproof pair. There are only a couple of choices from Topo, and i did not want a boot. As soon as i put them on, the right shoe was a little snug, but felt ok. The left shoe immediately put a pressure point just below my ankle. I tried the on the next morning, and same result, so i returned them. As some other reviewers have suggested, it seems like Topo built the shoe, and then added the waterproof bootie, making the shoes feel snug. Initially, i thought i may have just received a bad pair, but after reading some of the reviews, i'm thinking there may be a problem with this model, and i'll have to find something else. Bummer, because i love the way my Aura's fit.

I do like the fit and performance of these shoes but I really do not like this color. It's a shame they only offer these in a solid black with no other options available. If you're going to offer black shoes as the only option in your one Waterproof Lowcut Hiking product, then maybe add some white or colored accents on them? Everything is either black or dark grey on these shoes and there is no definition. They just look like black ink spots in the corner of my eye with no contrast or definition. How uninteresting! I really wish Topo offered a dark green, or brown, or white, or anything else really.

I've had several pairs of Topos that I liked a lot, enough to buy a 9.5 and a 10 in the same shoe for a thicker sock in the winter. Great shoes..lasted a long time with regular use. Hydroventure maybe? No longer available. These seemed a close match...low, waterproof, not fluorescent, etc. Bought a 9.5..much tighter...figured I could make them work then also got a 10..feels pretty much the same as the 9.5. decent length, but too tight. Fabric squeaks inside. What's up with the curly elf toes?

I like everything about the shoe but due to my over pronation I can't wear. Please make a shoe with a proper base. I'm sticking with the Brooks Cascadia.

I really wanted to like this shoe, but the WP bootie adds too much bulk and creates a very snug fit. Either increase the volume of the midfoot and toebox in the next version or offer a Wide version. Otherwise, I'll pass. Length is true to size however. Also please fix the tongue as well. With the added WP bootie it creates too much excess overlapping of the tongue which again, just adds more bulk and is uncomfortable and adds pressure points to the top of the foot. One last thing, the lacing eyelets on the tongue do not line up either when you cross the laces and feed them through. This was a huge swing and miss on this shoe. Instead of adding a WP bootie to an existing shoe last, please create a stand alone shoe last that is anatomically correct with the bootie with no folding or overlapping tongue, then you'll have a product that works. P.S. - I have also tried on the regular Terraventure 4 and it fits perfectly.

Avid ultralight hiker and long time, dedicated Topo user - I switched from your major competitor years ago, and have purchased well over 20 pairs of men's and women's Mountain Racers, Ultraventure Pro's, and now Terraventures. I live and hike in the NH White Mountains. ALL of these shoes are causing pain at the Achilles - the very top back of the shoe rubs at the top of the Achilles (circled in photo), especially while descending, but it just rubs all day long. I have now run into 5-6 others while hiking - in the same models shoes, all complaining of the same pain. I met a woman on a trail in Ultraventure Pro's who had so much pain there that she took shop scissors and literally cut the top of the shoe off at the back - where her Achilles sits. Russ - this is a design flaw that needs to be addressed. We hope to not have to go back to Hoka's, but we will if not remedied. Thank you for listening!

Initially comfy shoes for trail running and walking, but like so many supposedly "tough" trail and off-trail shoes, I wore through the heel cup within 100 miles. In addition, they have very little lateral stability, so if you go off trail or the trail gets rough, they have the same problem of most "zero drop" and/or "barefoot shoes": they slide around like you're wearing a pair of hut slippers.

This shoe isn't suitable for a neutral gait. It has too much arch and inner heel support, which can cause injuries. I therefore din't get a field test in these, but it does appear to be a quality product.
