This is the perfect size backpack for everyday tasks. With three kids, I prefer backpacks to purses so I can work hands-free. Plenty of room for wallet, a water bottle, wipes, and other essentials.
Two cons: 1) it’s pretty stiff. I’m hoping the material will soften over time. 2) for the price of the bag, I shouldn’t have to pay an extra $20 for the shoulder pads (which, you pretty much need because the straps are thin and stiff and uncomfortable).

This Mini is cute but it is really small, compared to what I thought it would be. It holds more than I thought it would for it’s size when I stuffed a sweatshirt and my things in to see if it would be manageable. But no. My iPhone 8 (the small one) doesn’t fit in the front zip pocket because it is so small, not does a pencil. The inside was roomy for its size, though.
Plus the particular one that shipped to me looked already kinda worn when I opened it. Maybe it is the style of that color tho? Not sure but the color is really cute - a bunt orange meets brick red- and the design on the straps are cute.
Thought about just keeping it as I want it for a purse, but overall, I just felt like I was a giant with a kids backpack on. Returning it and will be buying a full size one instead because it seems to be excellent quality and design.

This bag is adorable...for a kindergartener. I ordered the Kanken mini in pink with light blue straps. It's absolutely darling and I thought the pastels would be fun, but the bag is tiny and the pink would be ever so much cuter on a child than it is on a 40-something year old woman. Returning for a bigger size and different color!

There are two kinds of Fjallraven kanken’s out there. One without the Swedish flag, and the edges inside the bag aren’t wrapped in a rubbed ribbon, and the other with the Swedish flag, and with a ribbed ribbon that wraps the edges of the bag for neater look. I think the one with the flag is the Kanken from a few years ago and made in Vietnam, and the one without the flag is the new Kanken made in China. I prefer the older one made in Vietnam. If you look closely at what Zappos posts, you can tell if it’s the new one or the old one. Usually the solid colored ones are the newer ones without the Swedish flag, while the ones with pin striped or patterned handles are the older ones with the Swedish flag.
I’ve been on the hunt for the best possible Kanken for the past few days and this is what I’ve learned, so I thought I’d share it just in case there was anyone doubting the authenticity of their bag.
I also emailed Fjallraven USA and they told me that some manufacturers make it with the flag and some don’t. It was through my observation of the bags (ordered and returned a few here and on Amazon) that I was able to realize what I know to write this review.

It came in 2 days which is really fast and amazing. This bag is really cute and is actually very spacious. The only thing is that it didn’t come with the seating pad in the back of the bag so I’m kinda bummed out about that.

The pink color is slightly different from website photo, which actually has a neon tone to it. It’s still cute though. The straps are kinda skinny; and it might be more comfortable if they were wider or with some padding. It holds quite a few things, more than I expected and the material is duarable, water-resistant. Overall I’m satisfied with this purchase.

This is a cute backpack with somewhat a functional design. I use it mainly for my short 1-2 hour outings to walk/hike/visit playground with my 2 toddlers. I just pack hand wipes (inside backpack), 2 small kids water bottles (packed inside backpack), sunscreen tubes and hand sanitizer spray (packed on outside side pockets), my wallet (inside backpack), set of keys (inside), portable kleenexes (small zipped pocket of backpack), toilet seat covers for my toddler girl (inside backpack), and 2 juiceboxes (packed inside of backpack). It fits everything i need for the 1-2 hour outings... where i dont want to carry my big diaper bag bc i dont need diapers for those short outings nor a change of toddler clothes... and where i dont want to bring my regular size backpack (northface one) coz its just too big for what i need.
This mini version is just right...
I gave it a 4 star rating instead of a 5 bc the side pockets are really slim - no water bottle that i can find anywhere will fit those slots. Some websites state its for water bottle but its really for like a rolled up magazine or newspaper or a small umbrella. This brand if backpack also comes with a foam padding inside that you can take out and use as a seat cover if u find urself outdoors and dont want to sit on a soiled area (at least thats what some outdoor stores that sell these bags claim they are for)... :)
Overall, i would recommend this bag for short outings esp with lil ones where u dont need to pack diapers anymore!
(Also great to hand it down to your toddler for when they are older and can wear a backpack by themselves)

I love the overall size of this backpack, but there could definitely be some improvements. The pockets are really small. The front pocket can't fit my phone and the side pockets most definitely can't fit a water bottle. The backpack also arrives really crunched up and wrinkly, but they flatten out through use.

I love the color, the size, the design. It is super cute. The straps (being for kids) were initially really small, but were easily expanded to fit me. The zippers are not the easiest in the world, but I am not real hurt about it. The only real complaint I have is that it arrived sort of dirty? It is covered in a dusty dirt brown substance in some areas, which was odd since it was in a sealed bag. it is not everywhere and it is not really noticeable right away, but it is significant enough that I imagine some people might be pretty upset. There are also a few white smudges here and there. I have brushed off a tiny bit of the looser parts of brown, but it has not really done much to clean it. I have yet to try with any sort of moisture, hopefully that will help. Regardless, it is cute and does what I want it to do so I am still pretty pleased. I figure at best it will come clean, at worst it will have a rugged, well-used look right off the bat.

As the description says, this is a mini backpack. The video does a great job of showing off the size of the bag, and it would make a great backpack for a child or a nice day bag for an adult. I bought it because I wanted a tiny but sturdy backpack to carry around my daily essentials, and I find most purses to be clunky and uncomfortable. This bag works great for that and after a little work, the straps can adjust to accommodate any size. A few things I want to point out: 1) The side pockets are very nice, though not quite large enough to hold a regular-sized water bottle 2) The straps are not padded, though pads are available for separate purchase. It is a great little bag, though, and I'm super pleased with the purchase!

This is very cute but the straps would not go through the loops as the directions showed. I gave up and am returning. It would also be better if you could use it as a backpack or crossbody but you can’t. Disappointed

Really wanted to like this backpack more than I do. The straps are pretty uncomfortable for a long day (I wore for 10 hours on a 92 degree day at Disneyland) . But what really bummed me out is how filthy it got right away. I am a very clean person and have no problem keeping accessories spotless. I never placed this bag on the ground. It was always on a chair or on my back. It is now filthy. I do not think this is worth the price and if I could I would send it back.

This is really cute and a good size for a little day trip, I was hoping to use this at Disneyland and I think I could get by but the straps are way too short and it sits very high on the back and narrow on the shoulders. The mini would be great for a child, not really an adult in my opinion. I’m going to check out the classic size.

I love this little bag but it has major design flaws. It is the perfect size to be used as a purse but....the straps are ridiculously short. I am not a big person. I wear a medium shirt and just trying to get it on was difficult. The straps are stiff and once on rub the insides of my arms. Then you have to remove it and to get it off it feels like being tied up. The classic is to big the mini is too little there needs to be an in between size or just make the straps longer. One more thing which is personal preference, I thought the ones with the different colored straps would be cute but they just make the bag really juvenile. Sad about this one because it is a cute bag and a good size for a purse but the straps ruin it. Getting them unsnapped and fed back through those plastic rings also is no picnic and seems like a unnecessary design. The hunt continues for the perfect small backpack.

I ordered this bag with the hopes that it would be able to replace my purse. Unfortunately the straps were simply not long enough and it looked like I was wearing a child's bag rather than something trendy. I would recommend this for children but it doesn't really fit adults unless you are very petite. I had to return it, great quality just not right for me.

I misunderstood the description - I thought this was more of a purse backpack. Actually it seems more like it was designed for a small child. The straps are very small and short and it rides really high up on my back and looks silly. Too bad, the size and style were perfect for me, but the fit was not. I will give the regular sized "kanken" a try.

I bought this on a whim, I liked the idea of having a small backpack for going out and I really like the plum. And while I am happy with the size and the functionality for my needs, I have not been all that satisfied with the material itself. For one the dye job is a bit spotty, it's like there's dust on patches that won't come out and it seems to get dirty very quickly without being able to clean it. I still like the bag and am aware that I'm the only one who will pay attention to the details, but if you are detail oriented like me, it's something to keep in mind as it is a bit disappointing. But I am glad I purchased this and hope that over time the marks will give it more of a rugged look than being dirty.

Cheerful color and trendy design, but impractical shoulder straps-- they have ZERO padding. Straps are just 1-inch wide and concentrate the weight on a narrow area of your body for maximum discomfort.

We bought this for our preschool son. Super Fashionable but can't figure out straps and how to expand. This needs to be explained in a video for people and I think you would get more sales. Heck I would buy another in a different color but I feel it only for a one time use. ;(

The straps on this bag are so awful. The edges are super sharp so they pull my shirt and my pants (when the bag sits in my lap). They also dig into my shoulders. I bought the shoulder pads to go on these and while those help tons the part that adjusts at the end of the shoulder strap pad dig into my armpit area. I made the mistake of wearing this bag into nyc for the first time and I was in agony by the time I left. I am sure the bag has to "break in" but the straps are so rough and awful I will not be able to wear this bag again! The pink color is really cute and while the size is mini, it sure does fit a lot- A 24 oz water bottle, rolled up thin jacket, small wallet, small tube of lotion, small snacks etc.

This is a CHILD SIZED BAG - actually more like a very young child sized bag. The straps will not adjust to allow for an adult to wear. Loved the color, quality and design, it’s just not made for an adult to use.
