I thought I would love this vest. But its got a couple flaws. The zipper curves over on one side by design, however its ends up looking funny and slightly off without serving a function. The plastic zipper when zipped 3/4 the way up (which is how you wear it most of the time) does not have a piece of fabric covering the top of the zipper abd thus ends up hitting and bothering your neck or your chin, depending on how it hits you all day long. As much as I wanted this vest and wanted to love it like the rest of my Smartwool gear (big fan!!) unfortunately it's goning to have to go back.

Agree with other reviewers. This updated version is really uncomfortable and doesn't look good - fit and fabric are a much worse combo. I have one from 2+ years ago that I adore, it is soft like a Patagonia vest and attractively form fitting. This latest one has a very wide cut and because it has a forced hourglass shape, the stiffer fabric bizarrely pooches out under the armpits. Looks terrible. Also when zipped up all the way, the stiff thicker fabric digs into the soft area of the throat, especially with the hood dragging it back. Keep having to pull it forward to not feel strangled. I loved the older version so much I bought 2 more on sale but they are going back. The only improvement was the quirky embroidered logo is now black instead of white on the darker colored vests, so less visible and you can wear the vest to nicer places too (only if zipped up all the way otherwise you can see the kinda ugly rainbow trim inside the collar)

I've had three prior incarnations of this vest. Had the black vest, the teal vest, and the navy long sleeve jacket. These vests & jackets are my absolute favorite. Warm and Sporty with multiple zippered pockets. I lost weight and purchased the recent version of this vest. Unfortunately it fit wrong. It felt less cozy, more stiff, the length was shorter and the waistline was proportioned differently, making the jacket look like a forced hourglass. The prior jacket version had a feminine slim fit without the fake hourglass shape. I usually don't write reviews and I'm definitely not a negative person but this jacket was my absolute favorite. I've been looking for prior years models to buy without much luck. Hoping Smartwool decides to make the old version next year.

Honestly this is the first time I am disappointed with Smartwool item. I own smartloft vests from 2 years ago that fit nice and are excellent quality. This year design has changed. The side paneling is 50% polyester that makes them stiff. Also vest is 2 inches wider and bit shorter which is really unflattering. Front nylon panel is lower quality, more stiff and makes loud noice. I can definitely see that something changed for worse. This is huge disappointment

I have 2 SmartWool vests from 2+ years ago. I tried to purchase a new one but it was much wider and shorter. It did not have a flattering fit like the previous ones. So sad to see such a good thing take a turn for the worse!

Not true to size. I have same vest in Med and fits well. Can barely zip this one and it is shorter
